11/22/23, 4:45 PM - We really liked this one too... my wife really thought it good
11/22/23, 4:41 PM - Hey Tom, Glad to see you loved this too. I actually had this at a wine tasting with Bob Biale a couple of weeks back. Thought it was outstanding. Powerful, yet elegant. The classic iron fist in a velvet glove.Outdrank the First Grade ..which was also quite good that night
11/8/23, 6:37 PM - 100% agree with your review...cheers
11/8/23, 6:35 PM - Just PnP a bottle tonight and your review was spot on...very close to my exact thoughts...Cheers!!!
4/30/23, 9:28 AM - I think you are spot on in your review. Not bad, but completely underwhelming.
1/28/23, 7:16 AM - Your note is spot on - we had a bottle Wed night for my wife's birthday and it was so well balanced. in a great spot
11/18/22, 7:10 AM - Thanks for bringing up smoke taint... When i saw a 2020 on sale at Vine Republic, it was the first thing that popped into my mind... I was surprised to see the scores so high on CT and was about to pull the trigger...Will likely pass now... Thanks for your note!!!!
10/7/22, 12:24 PM - In my somewhat limited experience with Platt fruit (mostly through Flanagan Platt), i have found it definitely needs a few years of cellar time before popping. I bought three of these and plan to let them sit for a few more years. The notes like your on CT seem to confirm that approach..Thanks for the write-up found it very helpful. Perhaps we will see the swan emerge from its ugly duckling stage in a couple of years and have a couple of better notes on this one
5/20/22, 3:42 AM - Thanks, consider it a gift instead of stealing...
5/19/22, 12:30 PM - Thanks engped - and to be honest i was not sure how to write my note, or even if i should write it. I make no judgement on what they did, and my heart truly went out to the producers in both OR and CA impacted by the fires. But by the same token - i checked CT before i bought, did not see any note of taint, and as a consumer would have liked to have known. I do not know if my bottle was a one off, or any details other than my one experience.Cheers!
5/5/22, 10:49 AM - My feelings exactly. i am kicking myself fore not buying more. This is my favorite de Negoce wine thus far
3/7/22, 9:42 AM - Dang - you and your wife are spot on with my review of this wine. I couldn't have said it any better (and in fact probably did not in my Note :-) ). I would certainly drink it again if offered, but would not buy it - Cheers!
1/29/22, 6:30 AM - I wish I read your note before popping last night... this baby should have remained sleeping for a few more years, or been decanted for a few more hours
1/29/22, 6:23 AM - Just popped my last bottle last night, and your note was spot on... maybe adding a touch of black licorice on finish. Cheers!
1/17/22, 1:02 PM - It was so good we had to crack a second bottle
1/19/22, 6:41 AM - Decanting Queen - based on how good the 2015 was drinking... it is tough to argue with that idea... Enjoy your bottle
1/20/22, 5:40 PM - Glad you enjoyed..... and glad to hear it drinking great
12/29/21, 11:57 AM - available right now as part of a 12 Bottle Shipper blowout sale for $144/case shipping included ... which i believe is cheaper than initial offer if you count shipping
12/29/21, 12:07 PM - Nice... i picked up a case of this and a case of the Columbia Valley Red blend #127 ...which seems like a steal at $7.42/bottle including shipping...I have found most of what i have ordered from them good wines and good values...these seem like they will do nicely as midweek drinkers and party wines
12/29/21, 12:43 PM - makes me feel better that you tried it before and liked it... At that price point, you mostly find plonk in wine stores....
11/25/21, 7:09 PM - We too are kicking ourselves for only getting a six pack. This is one of the best $20 pinots we have ever drank.
10/25/21, 9:33 AM - spot on note... only had a glass of it but was hit like a 2 by 4 by the funky, earthy mid-palate as you described it.For my own taste perhaps a little too much funk... but still interesting to drink for sure/
9/18/21, 6:58 PM - Fantastic note... we just popped a bottle and would agree with your note almost word forcword..Cheers!!!
5/29/21, 8:08 AM - First off, thank you for your thoughts on this, it is really appreciated. I had indeed expected the Petrol, and that does not bother me. I think what caught me by surprise was that I thought the wine was almost syrupy. I will certainly decant if i purchase again. As for sweetness, I probably should have done a bit more research, but to borrow a scale from Riesling, I was expecting something on the order of maybe a Spatlese (maybe close to a Kabinett side of the scale), and instead got something that reminded me more of an an Auslese. just my personal thoughts...
4/3/21, 4:57 PM - Thanks for confirming I am not the only one. Lots of rave reviews, thought I was the odd bird
3/5/21, 11:06 AM - I think there should be separate entries for each bottling release (so you can see how the 01/19 might compare to the 01/20 for example
3/4/21, 5:00 PM - Spot on... really was not drinking well right now
2/17/21, 7:31 PM - Wow - so best after 5 days... Impressive indeed.. i will get some more but let it sit for a while...
12/23/20, 9:37 AM - I had the same experience with the cork... crumbled right up. Unfortunately I did not have an Ah So, so pushed it in and strained it into my decanter. Also thought your notes were spot on... Though i would say i got a ++ Acidity with mine
12/21/20, 6:56 PM - So interesting.i also was unfamiliar with Flanagan wines until the 12/19/20 Virtual tasting and absolutely fell in love with the 2016 SC Pinot Noir. Ended up joining the club we thought it so good.
3/29/20, 2:17 PM - Looking forward to see what you think. I thought for the money this was really good
9/30/20, 11:31 AM - thanks oropeza - i will have to check it out
9/12/20, 7:18 AM - Wow- your note is so spot on... I was going to add something very similar...particularly about the lightness from a Paso Cab and the green notes, which i found actually very pronounced.
9/8/20, 10:29 AM - It was also really good the next day... seemed to settle down, and yet had lost none of its vibrancy and purity of fruit
9/8/20, 12:03 PM - Agree 100% ; Have enjoyed many bottles from them as well
6/1/20, 1:26 PM - nice review... convinced me to throw a bottle in my cart during my last wine order... Was looking for a decent drinkable Carmenere at this price poiint
4/17/20, 5:17 PM - Spot on tasting note, that I wish I read before I popped and poured. I am 100% in concurrence
4/8/20, 12:32 PM - Still have a bottle sitting (last couple were both drank back in 2013). Glad to see there is still some life left...Thanks for the review
3/23/20, 11:34 AM - Hi James, Was considering picking some of this up on sale for a out $12, and was wondering if it still has some life in it, or if you thought it was on its last legs... Thanks in advance
3/21/20, 7:19 PM - Damn Rick. You are spot on once again. I will say this, last glass was the best glass. I thought this was fairly full bodied and needed some air time. But rest of your note spot on
3/8/20, 5:15 AM - I still actually haven't opened it yet...though it may get some consideration now that you reminded me LOL
2/7/20, 6:18 AM - Hey Rick... I only had a small glass, as my wife and son were drinking it with dinner. Thought it was really drinking well, with black fruit for sure. It is funny as i have been drinking a ton of sangiovese lately and the flavor profile was so different it like slapped me in the face... But it was really tasty
12/13/19, 10:05 AM - Wow - i had the aftertaste as well... kinda ruined hte wine for me off a PnP. Overall wasn't as high on it as you, thought it a little too fruity (not quite the right description but words are escaping me now)
10/22/19, 12:04 PM - Hey Rick - Long time no talk - Saw this on the WL Text sale (use code Winetext10) for less that $9/bottle and was on the fence until I saw your note. I remembered how our plates used to align fairly well.Hope you have been wellLou
10/23/19, 7:33 PM - Will do my friend
12/9/19, 10:20 AM - ok, so popped a bottle yesterday, and am angry that i only bought 3 bottles at the Wine Text price. Once again you were spot on in your comments. My wife loved it. unbelievable value...
10/27/19, 5:01 PM - Thank you , and great point on Perrin family quality up and down the line
9/25/19, 12:17 PM - almost 5 months later and a very similar experience to yours... Finally opened up for the last glass of the night, which was far and away the best.
3/30/19, 12:43 PM - Popped my first bottle last night, and while drinkable this definitely will benefit from time in the cellar imho. If you do pop now definitely give it 30-60 mon decant
10/9/18, 4:31 PM - So interesting that you got campfire . I was surprised to taste that, but happy to see I was not alone. Great note... cheers!
9/3/18, 3:58 AM - Thanks for your comment. I totally agree
7/27/17, 6:00 AM - @seijaro: They are available in some retail, but best way to search them out is through their website: https://www.jeanedwardscellars.com/Karen and John are fantastic people to deal with....
7/26/17, 6:15 PM - Damn Rich... that could be my note exactly, right down to drinking it in my yard
10/24/16, 8:06 PM - you are quite welcome. and your note reminded me to go get some more
10/19/16, 7:55 AM - Just had a bottle last night... and agree with your write-up almost word for word...right down to the wish i had bought more
9/18/16, 2:12 PM - interesting note on the Carmenere. As I drank it over a couple of hours last night, said same thing to myself. Reminded me a little of Purple Anvel
7/16/16, 2:51 PM - spot on review.. opened one last night and found myself nodding repeatedly as i read your notes
3/19/16, 11:43 AM - Hey Mike, worth the $14 tariff at WL or is it money better spent elsewhere?
3/19/16, 1:01 PM - Thanks Mike, Actually went the extra $10, and bought the 2010 Ricci BdM for $24.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
