100% Sangiovese. 14.5% alcohol. Maceration time of 18-20 days. A total of four years of ripening there of years in 25-50 and 75 hl oak barrels from Slavonia and Allier followed by at least 12 months bottle maturation.

Quite a dense power aromas with concentrated aroma of darker plums, cherries, exotic spices, mushrooms, leather and strong saltiness. Full bodied wine that is surprisingly available in the mouthfeel. Closes again at the finish with stronger darker notes of dark cherry, deep concentrated plum, dark raspberry, slightly dried berries, tough spice notes, leather, salt and a touch of espresso. The alcohol is there, but the acidity is so present that the wine is not perceived to be otherwise fresh. Firm tanninsZ Real power pack of a Brunello from Col d`Orcia that many will like with their forward-looking and tough style. Note - if you like leaner and more rustic Brunello is not this wine for you in this vintage. Anyway - Very good quality! 91 points. For now. (91-93 points)

Syrah. 13% alcohol. Grapes mainly from the Patou vineyard, where the domain disposes of 1.4 hectares. 0.5 acres are 60 year old vines. Only natural yeast from own vineyards is used in the fermentation. Over-pumping occurs regularly. The wine is stored and ripened in well-used oak barrels (2-8 years old) and bottled unfiltered about 18 months after the wine harvest.

Fresh and very pleasing aromas of fresh dark flowers lying over blackcurrants, redder plums, half-raw meat, a touch of juniper and clearly finely ground pepper that seduces. Pretty full-bodied wine and fresh Cornas that create lust. Typically tight, yet has a forward-looking and richer style that creates good balance in the wine. Slightly smooth mouthfeel. Typical dark purple fruits, deep salty soils, graphite, espresso, leather, licorice and herbs in the form of clear juniper berries. Good acidity and tannin structure that provides good bite on a long finish. Cornas need cellar time, including this one. But here is a lot to come from 5 - 15 years. Super wine from Paris. 92 points.

100% Frappato. 13% alcohol. From the single vineyard in Fossa di Lupo with 60 years old vines. Soils consisting mainly of white and brown calcareous sand with some clay but with almost only limestone under the sloping sand layer of 40 cm, situated 280 meters above sea level. with north-eastern exposure facing the Iblei mountains. Production Method. Hand-harvested, pressed and spontaneously fermented. 30 days of maceration. Matured 16 months in Slavonic barrels of 21 hl and 6 months in bottle. Only 2,700 bottles produced.

Quite intense and seductive aromas with lovely summery flower meadows over sunny red cherries, juicy blueberries, nectar peel and with a nice spice tone. Touch of volatile. Medium full and immediate fresh wine that seduces completely with a lovely touch. Pretty juicy, delicate and pronounced fresh fruit with sour cherries, red fruit peel, light stable, soil and leather. More power and darker tones at an excellent finish. Lovely acidity and perfect tannins that provide good bite. Brilliant wine. For light game and lamb. Remember to let the wine get some air. 93 points.

100% Nebbiolo. 14% alcohol. Wine made with grapes from the Rocagliette vineyard, located directly in front of Bondonio's "La Berchialla" winery in Tre stelle Barbaresco. Most of the vines are planted in 1958. Soil calcareous clay and blue marl. Fermentation starts with a pied de cuve on cement tanks. (Get the grapes "thieves" fermentation. The yeast from these grapes is used with the rest). 60 days maceration. Cappello sommero (Skin soaked in grape juice during the fermentation) 20 months on botti 1500-2500 liters of Austrian Stockinger and Slavonic barrels. No filtration.

Broader aromas on a richer style in this very hot vintage. Beautiful dark floral flower meadow with violet and dark roses lying over purple fruit, dried figs, hints of tar, truffle, leather belt, meat, spices and with nice saltiness from the soil. Pretty full-bodied and textured Barbaresco that exudes power, yet manages to show the delicate mouthfeel of juicy but fresh darker berries, deep saltiness, leather, licorice and dark spices. Slightly tighter and tougher finish with lightly dried pulp and slightly warm tone without noticeably draws the conclusion down. Firm tannins that can be perceived as demanding, but this gives an extra bite to the wine. Enough acidity to provide freshness. Bondonio does it again - this is a brilliant wine in a challenging vintage! Note that the wine needs a few years in the cellar. 93 points.

Caluso, Piedmont, Italy. 100% Erbaluce. Erbaluce is some unknown native grape from Piedmont with history dating back to the 16th century. The wine is fermented under a relatively cool environment to preserve its freshness. Has matured on "lees" for 1 month. Battonage. 5000 bottles are made.

Surprisingly tight and majestic aromas with tough floral tone over sun-warmed yellow apple and good minerals. Medium bodied and good wine with slightly oily mouthfeel, almost slightly oily texture. Juicy light sun-warmed apple, nut, some spice and some bitter stalks on a good finish. Good acidity. Very distinctive wine on an unknown grape for most. For half fat fish dishes and white meat with vegetables. 87 points.

60% Weissburgunder and 40% Chardonnay. Handpicked grapes, whole grape bunches in vinification and stored on oak for 14 months "on lees". 30% of the barrels are new. 12,000 bottles made.

Straw yellow, slightly cloudy wine. Forward and appealing aromas with stone fruits, caramel, brioche, pleasant wood and light butter. Good full bodied wine with fruity feeling of juicy yellow fruits, grapefruit, green apple peel, light sweet wood and nut. Long powerful finish with good freshness in the form of juicy lime edge. Missing a little tension in the middle part, but for the money this is very good quality product from Germany. For semi-fat fish with vegetables to and from sea crabs.

13% alcohol. Hand harvested and pressed before spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and maturation 12 months in 500 liter barrels. About 20% are new barrels. 6 months bottle storage.

Golden light yellow in color. Fresh and elegant aromas with cool yellow fruit, caramel, buttercream, light wood and gentle tones of road dust which adds extra complexity. Medium full bodied and fresh wine with delicate mouthfeel. Pretty fresh fruit with sweet citrus, a little grapefruit, nut, slightly dry wood and a long charming finish that refreshes with both lime and citrus peel. Good saltiness too. 100% Gamay. 12.5% alcohol. Granite soils of about 300 meters above sea level located on steep slopes and very old vines. Hand Picked. Destemmed, pressed and then spontaneously fermented in open yeast. Matured in concrete and used barrels for 16 months.

More concentrated, complex and serious aromas with dark red berries, a particularly deep salt, stones that really tells you that these are old vines. A little road dust, close to graphite. This is depth! Pretty full bodied and serious wine with real complexity. Very good concentrated fruit feeling with darker red berries, salt, licorice and herbs. Good acidity. Solid but well-propelled tannins. Very long finish. A really serious Beaujolais that maybe not everyone can quite understand. But this must be the top three Beaujolais that are made. Very nice wine. Rich and quite as powerful aromas with the familiar Cornas style of blackberry, concentrated plum, match and with wonderful pepper aromas. Good bodied wine and usually a little tight mouthfeel with great fruit rich fruit of blackberries, youthful plum, match and with a nice graphite nerve at a good finish. Firm, but with good tannin structure. As usual, this wine needs two, three years in the cellar, but with intense decanter movements and air it can work as early as this year's Easter. To light game. The grapes come from specially selected vineyards - Osterberg and Geisberg - which are both Grand Cru vineyards. The vines have an average age of 50 years. Clay and calcareous soils. This wine matures at least five years on bottle before launch.

Rich and appealing aromas with juicy grapefruit, ripe citrus, light flower and almost some powder. Pretty full-bodied and lightly rich wine with good fruit of cool melon, stone fruit, succulent grape, minerals and light stalk on a rather fat and wide finish. High alcohol, 14%, but the wine retains its freshness and will be a great follow for fatter fish dishes. 92 points.

Not too intense, but the wine really has a complex aromas that is demanding but also creates lust. Deep soils, graphite, concentrated dark red fruit and all the way a watchful dark floral tone that lies above the fruit. Pretty full bodied and fresh wine that really challenges. This is the Hulk's fist wrapped in Cinderella's silk glove. Fresh fruit helps create elegance with dark cherries, raspberries and plums. The finish is considerably coarser and with more force. Here comes the wonderful complexity with deep saltiness, gentle wood and leather. Solid tannins, fruit present and delicious acidity create a truly storable Burgundy. Here we talk decades. Fabulous wine from Roman Taupenot! 95 points.
