Floral nose and blackberry fruit. Caught a hint of strawberry right after opening, but couldn't find it later. A bit of gravel mid-palate keeps the fruitiness under control. Relatively short finish with a little sweetness in the oak. Already a touch of brick to the color.

Note to self: wait at least 2 hours after opening. A few minutes after uncorking, this was metallic, sour cherry, wood chips. Three hours later and the cherry added nice plum notes, there was some spiciness to the oak, and a pleasant amount of earthiness. Still, I sort of feel like a 5 year old Pinot shouldn't need to be treated like a 50 year old Burgundy prior to drinking.

11/10/2018 Red cherry, rich fruit, then a little oak. Not bad at all, but lacking the complexity I normally associate with P-P.

12/2/14, 8:14 PM - Interesting perspective ericindc. I can't say I'd given much though to keeping CA Pinots for 10 years. But with so many offerings not gaining much from cellar time, I could stand to save a few back.
