Medium ruby color. Bright red cherry fruit with a touch of tartness, which is a little surprising given the age. Subtle oak finish. More restrained than many CA Pinots. I wished for a little more complexity, but good example of a classic Pinot profile.

Still bright ruby color with just a ton of cherry fruit. About as intense and vibrant as I think you could get before it starts to become port. Some baking spices mid palate and then a long, lingering finish.

Starting to get a bit of brick-ish color, but still a ton of black cherry fruit, some good earthiness and tinge of Pinot funk. Lingering, balanced finish. Really happy I have more in the cellar.

Cherry color and flavor, a little earthiness. Nicely balanced acidity on the end. Nice but a little simple.

Lovely deep maroon color. Cherry fruit hard to discern after the hit of cedar. Very tannin forward at opening that mellowed out after a couple of hours. You can just feel there's a sweet spot between CA fruit forward and French restraint and acidity. This is so close, just not quite.

Dark maroon color, red raspberry fruit. Maybe more like raspberry vine, since there's also some vegetal elements. Short finish, but balanced.

12/1/2022 Bright red cherry and raspberry fruit, not rich or ripe, just bright & fruity. Not a lot of secondary notes, balanced finish.

Muted cherry fruit, a little baking spice. Nicely balanced finish, but very short. Nothing bad, but nothing to recommend it either.

Clearly I didn't have the same experience as all the other reviewers. Very tart when first opened, it settled down after 30 minutes and the cherry fruit make a strong appearance. Overall a bit thin, and a finish that lasted a mere moment. Also a good eighth inch of sediment, so maybe I just got the last bottle from the barrel.

Plum and cherry fruit, present but a little muted. Some baking spice, then a balance of oak and acidity. Finish was very nice.

A little brioche right at the beginning that I was afraid would intensify. Instead, lemon and pineapple fruit jumped in and then some sweet apple. Clean finish without being tart. Definitely lines up with my preferences in a Chardonnay.

Robust ruby color with nothing to indicate its age. Plush on the tongue. Rich cherry fruit and a little cola. Surprisingly, a little herbal note. Finish still a little closed until it got some air time.

Aromatic and purple when opened. First taste after about 30 minutes. Tons of plum and raspberry, without the least bit of over extraction. Not a ton of mid-palate interest, then a long finish with both the oak and the acidity present. Good with food, good without.

A hint of butter when it first hits your palate, then apples and lemons and oranges. Not green apples, but ripe, eating apples. Finishes with a smooth acidity that never gets too sharp. For my personal preferences, this is about as good as Chardonnay gets.

Deep purple hue, almost Syrah-like in its inkiness. Strong black fruit transitioning to tobacco and leather. Strong components of both tannin and acidity on the finish that didn't open up even after a few hours in the air. Stood up well to roast beef, though.

Tart, red fruit. Sharpness never really integrates (at least not after 2 hours).

Nice summertime Pinot. Maroon color, fresh cherry and raspberry fruit. Pleasing acidity on the back end. Definitely a more restrained style aligned with the lower alcohol %. Not much complexity.

Silky and light across the tongue. Raspberry, plum fruit that's almost delicate. Fades into a good balance of light oak and acidity, if just a touch watery on the finish. Good summer Pinot, especially for the price.

Took a sip right after opening and it was pretty tight, so let it sit for an hour. At that point the seeds and stems were much more integrated and made the tasting a journey. From plum and strawberry fruit it wanders through the garden while picking up a little food-friendly brightness before finishing at the edge of the forest. Very nice example of the old world style Jamie does so well.

Rich ruby color, smooth mouth feel. Strong cherry and a little cranberry fruit. First glass was PnP, and didn't have much in the way of secondary notes. An hour later, the baking spices and earthiness I associate with SLH vineyards came shining through.

Maroon color, nothing particularly noteworthy about mouth feel. Red cherry fruit, a little baking spice, and a touch of mint and tarragon. Herbaceous in a good way. Light acidity on the finish, very light on the oak. Good food wine.

Lots of cherry fruit, almost extracted but pulls up short. Not much mid-palate, then a lightly acidic finish. A little hard to food match--all that fruit and acidity tend to clash with something in the dish. But very nice pre-dinner.

Deep ruby color, almost plush mouthfeel, more flannel than velvet. Raspberry and plum fruit were not front and center, but the finish makes up for it. Earthiness, a little funk, some cocoa, a touch of smokiness and it just lasts forever.

7/15/2022 This wine just matches what I like in a CA Pinot. Excellent.

Deep garnet color. Rich and unctuous dark berry fruit. Some real tannic heft at the end that leans to black tea over vanilla or forest floor. Pretty sure I would not have pegged this as a Pinot in a blind taste.

Garnet color and slightly silky mouth feel. You can tell there's a bit of acidity up front that keeps it away from being overly plush. Lots of cherry and a little cranberry tartness. Transitions to earthiness before the oak becomes pronounced. Keeps a bit of the fruit through to the very end. Decanted an hour.

Leans toward purple over red. Tons of black fruit. Tannins are stout initially, but mellowed well after a couple of hours decant. A touch of acidity, but mostly this is about the fruit and the oak.

Deep ruby with a little brick around the edge. Luxurious mouthfeel, with strawberry and raspberry fruit. Light oak that lingers on the finish. Lacks some complexity, but the notes it does hit are spot on for a CA style Pinot.

Rich, ripe, black fruit. Some notes of coffee and leather, a little baking spice. Light acidity comes through at the end. On the cusp of over the top, but pulls up in time.

8/26/2022 Seems like the light oak shone through more in this bottle. Good balance of acidity at the end. Wasn't as overwhelmed by the fruit this time around.

Red cherry and cranberry fruit, maybe even a little rhubarb. Very tart initially, but mellowed a lot the 2nd day. A nice bit of subtle oak came through at the finish once that acidity retreated.

6/24/2022 Different bottle 3 weeks later and hardly seems like the same wine. Still centers around the red fruit, but didn't seem to have near the tartness, and got a little earthiness to go with the light oak on the finish.

Cherry and raspberry fruit, with some pronounced tartness on the finish. Better after a couple of hours open. None of the earthiness I tend to expect in a SLH wine. Not much complexity. Simple, but pleasant.

Lots of fruit up front and then a sharp backend that insists on food pairing instead of just before-dinner cocktail. Definitely not the rich, powerful Pinots I typically expect from a CA pinot, nor the august signature I like from Kutch. Fruity and simple is, I suppose, where I land on this one.

9/19/2022 Thin across the palate and a clash of tannin and tartness at the end. Not a favorite Kutch moment.

Dark purple, good mouth feel. Very fruit forward, lots of blackberry, a little tart plum. Not much in the way of secondary notes, but a firm finish with enough tannin and acid to be food friendly without overpowering. I didn't notice the alcohol until the second glass, after I'd already looked at the bottle. So don't know if it pulled itself forward or my subconscious kicked in.

7/10/2022 Big, big fruit. Nice finish with toasted oak. Again, didn't notice the high alcohol.

Boy, having trouble finding fault with this. Still a bright ruby color, with just a touch of brick around the edge if you're looking. Black cherry and blackberry fruit. A little cinnamon and a little cherry cola, then graduates to that light, toasty oak that you smell when you receive the shipment of new barrels.

Fruit is muted on the nose, and (for a Zinfandel) even on the palate. Nice cherry and plum flavors, just restrained. Good acidity and mellow tannins on the finish, not the least bit marred by the 15.5% alcohol. Zinfandel by a Pinot guy.

Pnp'd and the tannins delivered a body blow. Set it aside until the next day and boy was that the right decision. Rich black fruit reflected the rich black color. A bit of fig in there, then nice tobacco and earthiness. Still a little tight, but that cut right through the fattiness of the brisket we ate with it.
