This is finally coming into it's own. Decanted 1.5 hrs and drunk over the next 1.5 hrs, a great wine, big in fruit extract and acid to make this astounding in the mouth. Primarily higer acid orchard fruits, not much in tropical nature, but peach, grapefruit, tangerine, pear in big amounts. Love this and wish I had more.

open. just shortly before beginning of consumption. everything about this wine is elegant, from the beginning nose with hints of sous bois and the color of transparent rose. while the fruit is playing second fiddle its the tension and balance that send this soaring. Perfect timing. Just a great wine now.

about 6 hrs open and 1 hr decant; slow out of the gate but kept getting deeper and more brooding in a very good way. Best of and sadly last of 8 bottles.

nearly a year has done wonders to this wine for me, maybe its just bottle variation but with a couple hours open then a short decant this wine goes from a very light and thin wine to one of nice substance and more complex flavors, some sous bois and generally deeper mouthfeel. Liking a lot now.

last bottle a year ago, this is similar, deep black and red fruit, with great blending, all tannins pretty much resolved. Black fruit, like CS is moderated by the red higher acid red fruit. Lovely wine, deep and so flavorful.

couple hour open then 1 hr decant, much needed. Previously, 3 yrs ago, this showed next to nothing, so the ensuing years and the time allowed to open made this wine everything it should be: rich, complex with perfect balance, slight honeyed, nuts, slight petrol notes. A very long and unctuous finish. Drink now or wait.

couple hr decant, great nose of dark cherry; at first pour seemed a bit of VA coming thru, tasting is full of chewy tannins and good fruit, this never changed with the less than elegant nature I would have expected. Overall a disappointment for me.

1 hr decant...first taste is so great, honeyed with snap pea bitterness combined, finishes with bitter and sweet viscosity. Great for me and so typical for the GV's I love. I do believe youth in these wines are key to keeping the freshness and vitality alive.

a couple hrs open then decant as there is so much fizz. Tasting is another thing altogether, more of an orange rind flavor with such excellent texture in the mouth, great depth of fruit and acid balance, the spritz in the mouith adds another point of interest. Fun and different experience and so together. Good to drink now.

2 hr decant. started slowly and was quite a varied opening showing multilevel flavors and balance. Once this came together the predominate notes are a darker berry fruit, a soft almost cream like texture, acid/tannins were in balance. An odd combination of things going on. In the end a deep but flavorful wine with creamy texture as opposed to most tannic structured wines. Not my favorite but pretty good.

2 hrs open and an hour or so over dinner. So big dark fruit starting out very dark and young (purple notes), then over the course of dinner it seems to come out a bit of more red fruit. All in the context of very ripe and lush, easy tannins and unfortunately next to no acid structure. Easy to drink but not one that I would say "I've could drink all night". Gets kind of boring after a bit.

couple hour double decant and drunk over another two hours. Only the last hour was this singing the tune of depth with great character of CF, still in need of another 5 years minimum to reveal it's best.

found what was a "lost" bottle, so, pnp, thick and very resolved, balance is a bit fat in texture, acid is low. Not horrible but glad there's no more. Fruit is thick and jammy.

open a few hours, this is a lush wine, tannins are fairly resolved but leaves you wanting a better element of acid as the wine is a bit flabby.

I've had this wine a number of times over the years, but this is surely the best. I had been a bit worried about an overabundance of fig flavor, but this opened after a short decant as a large and vibrant bottle of exquisite red fruited wine, some element of darker fig like flavors but just the combination perfect balance of structural elements make this a great wine. By far the most sediment I've ever seen in a wine but not surprised. Not tired in any way. Drink now and enjoy.

from 375, basically pnp and drank over an hour. This is one of the more complex and interesting '08's I've had going back 6 years or so. So complex with fresh lemon and honey notes mixed the the sulfur/gun flint/petrol notes of older wines. So unique and at this age so remarkable. Other vintages I've been drinking, namely '09, have nothing on this. Only to say the Mouchere is the only Boillot wine in the '09's to be drinkable now. Enjoy this now.

finally got to the right stage in this bottlings life, previous very closed up but now showing great depth of flavors with compexity of sous bois adding to overall depth of this wine. Structure is great with just a hint of medicinal note in the finish. Time to drink

So for the past couple of weeks I've been going thru all my Boillot '09s, mainly the meursault wines and not one have been ok, all oxidized. The only '09 that was decent to good has been the PM Mouchere which, while ripe, was still very enjoyable.

short decant, this was immediately showing its stuffing, rich red fruit with all the elements of greatness, a bit of medicinal red note that kept the higher profile intact. Just kept getting better as it opened. Very nice now. Sadly my on of this appelation, hopin the others I have are as good.

glad I was able to find my last bottle in sound shape. This was great from the get go, Large scaled fruit w/o any issues of brett or even much GLT which I love so, but still so round yet firm grip, taste that lasted a long time in the mouth. This is certainly at it's best now, so why wait.

open for a little while then started with fine depth, rather large really, and fine acid balance which makes this a fine example that shows no age at all. Surprisingly no reviews and doesn't seem to be much US distribution.

last bottle of this, just pnp, very amber color, nose of an oxidative nature, worrying here, however, the flavors and acid balance were perfect, previous bottles have been excellent yet not developed the fruit component like this. Flavor was of light orange marmalade and just hit the spot with a creamy tarragon sauce over chicken. Really a treat and so easy to drink. Acid balance was making the wine sing a truly different note.

! hr decant, much better than previous bottles, everything was hitting their marks tonight. Balance was great, good fruit/tannins/acid in a CA way which means to me no complexity but as good at i've had.

well 2 out of 3 bottles in the last 2 weeks tell me this is not a keeper. One was pretty damn good, I'd call it appropriately aged with signs of deep color and flavor not found in young wines. The other two were definately oxidized and not much joy. Nose far worse than on the palate. Got'em drink them!

This bottling/producer has always been a bit of a problem with me, many pre oxed and so this being my last bottle I couldn't expect greatness so just pnp and while this was advanced it was not pre ox as it wasn't showing sherry notes though pretty golden in the glass. Thoroughly enjoyed this with a rich creamy mushroom sauce, mainly orchard fruit, no citrus, oily to an extent, just quite delightful. Drink now!

1 hr plus decant, whiile I love the overall balance of fruit and acid/tannin structure at this point the outllier in equation is the flavor of beet root that dominates the wines taste. Not my cup of tea and I notice it a lot in Copain wines, not sure why.

didn't give this the decant it needed, so I'm watching the development over a couple days. Day one: very promising with deep cherry/plum but tight, still only showing bits of itself. A bit of woodsy note but nose. I'm guessing another 5 years as the components are in place for a good future.

1 hr plus decant. In such a great spot now, showing nicely evolved tannins and a dusty fruit with a little tang/bite at the finish. So elegant and good depth of fruit. While not showing much overall complexity other than the slight dusty tannins that are in a great place with the cherry notes.

A fairly long routine in opening, long open then couple hour decant. Having had this 6 years ago I remembered it quickly, so distinctive, I'm not really much of a black fruit wine fan but this mix, which shows overwhelming a significant merlot signature is quite impressive if you like viscous full wine with a good mix of acid and tannin. Coats the tongue and leave a long long finish in the mouth. Overall a good balance of fruits though merlot dominates. Ive seen little change over the years but still quite good for the extreme style it is. Needs a big steak I think.

Open all day and decanted for 1.5 hrs. This came out of the gate singing; such a variety of flavors, intense deep red cherry with notes of smoke, leather, violets, and a bit of sweetness similar to what Montevertine does with their whites. Sure there were rather strong drying tannins but they took a back seat to the overall depth and complexity of this wine. All the parts are working so well together finishing with a slight tart finish; I've had so many Rancias but this one is so special. A very long life ahead, hope I have enough.

It's been a little over a year and a half since my first bottle of this, at the time I was amazed at the sheer power this had, so vibrant and large scaled, I truly loved it. Fast forward to today and I find a much different wine, one that has settle out much of the character and is left with good flavors but has lost the acidic energy that first bottle had. Now whats' left is much too sweet for me and leaves a heavy coating in my mouth. "15 was a warn year I feel the rs is now showing itself, to. me at least. I'm pretty bummed.

Having had this same wine a month ago, this was an eye opener. Previously the bottle (Domaine) with 2 hr decant was decidely soft and showed orchard fruit and little more, it did improve over an hour but never exciting. This bottle today was decidely different from the get go, I didn't but open and let sit for an hour before consuming. Initial nose was showing great amount of salinity/sea shell notes and got better from there, slowly evolving to show nuts, slight butter, flowers and more salinity. This didn't change over the entire time consuming, warming over dinner only soften and expanded the experience. Comparing these two bottle was like night and day, both Diam corks, not sure I remember the same tightness as todays bottle which was very tight and no wax on the cork. But so different they were. I have one left and if the same as today's then many more years left. Same providence so my finger are crossed.

short decant which wasn't enough, however this did come around through dinner and showed the excellent character of Loire CF, while a bit darker fruited than many it was certainly showing a developed green leaf tobacco flavor after a while, this was the one element that was a bit hesitant to show off. Overall balance was terrific with a strong savory element. Unfortunately my last bottle.

short decant and still needed more as there is a distracting note at first, rather medicinal but blows off after a bit, leaving a routine splash of oak that really never goes away but becomes just a normal trait for this producer/wine. Once the oak is acknowledged this wine become enjoyable, never more. I feel time, much, will help this as it's not meant to be a robust wine but an elegant one, just not yet.

3 hr decant and while showing a bit of VA at the beginning this wine evolved over the course of the meal to show very broad deeper, darker fruit; great balance. Very fine tannin sediment which was not tart/sharp at all, lending itself to a very fine finish at the end. Perhaps not known for reds, this time it was stellar.

after a couple hour decant the nose first revealed a lighter and higher pitched wine. Later upon tasting this confirmed the nicely aging wine, browning mininscus. balance was great, rather typical sense of fruit depth and acid level for an '01. A joy to drink. No hurry to drink up.

decanted a couple hours; initially this would easily be confused with a low weight chianti, tart and slightly sharp and little fruit; over a bit more time the acid/tannin softened and became more enjoyable but overall not entirely to my liking. In comparison the '13 of this is quite a bit better with more fruit and better balance; perhaps the additional year will help this expand.

A real pygmalion this one. Started off after 5 hours open and 3 hrs after decant to reveal a medium bodied mid depth wine with red fruit flavors with darker color, tannins and fruit were in great shape, such an excellent wine here. As the wine sat in the decanter the development continued to get deeper in all aspects along with massive increase in tannins. All elements seemed amped up from a mid weight to a heavy weight in all respects, this at about the 6 hr mark. I'm thinking this is acting like a young wine that shows more racy and elegant and closes down with time open, while this did do that the fruit depth kept up with the tannins. I'm thinking this must be an adolescent wine with a long life ahead. Very powerful for a barbaresco. Really did love this.

1 hr decant...starts quite shallow in flavor but expands over time, 30 min, more red cherry coming forward, always elegant with those white grapes adding lift. Overall a fine wine just all about elegance/balance w/ lighter fruit component than most which would garner bigger scores by most, but so good with lighter fare foods.

I keep trying to like this but this years version is just so big and still tannic I guess it's going to be a long haul. Not the delicate wine of '90 even with time in my opinion. It does seem a bit out of balance with less acid than I'd like, thus not my best liking of Ursules.
