a bit worried. Clean, straight line, slight fruit (apples, pear, fresh fruit) but lost the unctuousness that I have associated with other bottles/vintages. Still, a most impressive languedoc.

Well, this is why we taste wines blind. This is a wine from a vineyard owned by Sting. It turned out to be my favorite wine of the tasting among seven wines, including the warm up, and it was the group's second favorite. I would have probably been a little biased going in knowing a celebrity was attached to a vineyard. A couple of months ago I tried a shot of Haig Scotch done with affiliation with David Beckham and British music producer Simon Fuller it was definitely DNPIM (do not put in mouth). So I was surprised to find out it has ties to Sting.
This isn't a profound wine. It's not a wine to cellar. But it has nice balance and elegance like a good Beaujolais Village. It's a good food wine.
It's mostly black fruits and some cedar. There's a little bit of a tannic spine I don't usually notice in sangiovese. It may be from the syrah blended in. Good but not great finish. It seems like it was made for restaurant wine lists. Imported by Maritime Wine Trading Collective.

A much better bottle than the first one (corked). Medium bodied, showing somewhat bright, not heavy or jammy. Tannins were soft, affording fresh black fruits, and hints of earth and briar on the nose.

2000 Storybook Mountain Vineyards Zinfandel Mayacamas Range Napa Valley
A bit dull/flat tasting. Notes of tobacco and, maybe blackberries. Past its prime, I'm sure.
