White - Sparkling
1988 Ruinart Champagne Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay
Charleston III - the Weekend; 9/18/2014-9/20/2014 (Charleston SC - various locations incl. Red Drum, Halls, Circa 1886, and Kings Courtyard Inn): Popped and poured. Nice and toasty. I thought it was still tasting on the younger side although a few people noted that the bubbles were less apparent. They had certainly softened. A bit of butteriness to it. It was a good start to the afternoon.

9/29/14, 8:04 PM - Did you try both bottles? One was definitely better than the other, which is a testament to bottle variation. It was subtle but you could definitely perceive it when you had them side by side. I tore the label on the better bottle, but by then there wasn't much left.

White - Sparkling
1990 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame Champagne Blend
Charleston III - the Weekend; 9/18/2014-9/20/2014 (Charleston SC - various locations incl. Red Drum, Halls, Circa 1886, and Kings Courtyard Inn): Popped and poured. Enjoyed over ~40 minutes. Started sharp, but then really smoothed out. Got some butterscotch along with most of the table, honey flavors. Super soft bubbles, very smooth, with just the lightest sense of toastiness right at the end. Tasted again after a sip of the Montrachet and the sweetness was much more apparent. Liked this better than the '93 we had alongside, but the group was split.

9/29/14, 8:00 PM - How did you get this to last for 40 minutes? I feel like a lush now because I tossed this back quickly. It was delicious and def I prefer the 1990 over the 1993.

Red
2007 Barboursville Vineyards Octagon Monticello Red Bordeaux Blend

8/16/14, 7:59 PM - Bummer. Sorry it wasn't great for you. Ericindc and I had one tonight and it was pretty spectacular before it fell off. Do you think you decanted it for too long?
