On the nose, it was exactly how I remembered it when I was in NS in 2009. It may have been past its prime, but it showed its quality!

Great bottle for the price. A barrage of fruit hits your nose right from the glass, followed by smooth tannins. Easy drinking.

Aged surprisingly well, but 2016 is definitely the limit for this 2004 bottle. Big red fruit, big tannins, stood up very well to BBQ rib steak. Need to stock up!

Pretty middle of the road Pinot. Good at the beginning but it got funky half way through the meal (pizza w/mushrooms and black olives).

Huge red fruit on the nose initially, but taste doesn't match...a lot lighter than expected. Consistent and balanced after that.

Really nice French Pinot noir. Quite different from your typical P-N, which threw me off at first, but after a few minutes it clicked in: French...

Thanksgiving 2015
Drank alongside MacMurray 2012 and La Crema 2009. Quite different; Good on its own, but fell behind both.

Drank alongside French Bourgogne Pinot 2012 and La Crema 2012. Good on its own, really stood out compared to the others. Great fruit, not overpowering.

Still delicious! Great summer wine, sparkling on the tongue, and pronounced tropical fruit. Need to buy more!

Probably would have been better in a couple of years, but quite enjoyable
nonetheless. Cherry definitely there from the get-go, but the smokiness
of (perhaps?) the "burnt barrel" evolved after about 30 minutes. Good
stuff!

Great with Lebanese cuisine: acts as a nice balance to the acidity of the eggplant, chick pea, fat touch salad. Had it before with Szechuan cuisine, another great pairing.

This is what proper aging does for quality Italian wines: silky tannins, medium body. Slight sedimentation, probably could have waited another year, but why? Not sure if that would have helped. Very happy this bottle was opened!

2nd bottle didn't get any better: no oak, no complexity. Past its prime... Too bad.

First time drinking a Sangiovese. Austere, musty nose to it, but the flavour profile doesn't match the nose - not in a bad way, though. With this aroma I was expecting heavy tannins, but instead they were very smooth, and was quite fruity. Very easy drinking, and glad I have a second bottle in the cellar!

Aged perfectly, and probably could have gone another year. Slightly sedimented, as expected. Need to re-stock on my next trip to the liquor barn...

Impressive: the nose was so different than the taste, but in this case this was a good thing. The nose was definitely on the lighter side (my guess was cherries and sweeter fruits), while I guessed that the taste was on the cola-side with a very sweet strawberry. Need to get my paws on more of these!

Had it for Thanksgiving: traditional turkey dinner with vegetarian stuffing, etc. - not over-seasoned so the Bonterra was a nice pairing.

Awesome aperitif bottle! Smooth, slightly on the sweet side. Could have really used some sort of appetizer to cut the sweetness a little, but still an excellent bottle on a summer night.

Easy-drinking bottle, hitting all the right notes: right amount of fruit while still having firm enough tannins to handle some Italian cuisine standards. Not a bottle that needs to sit for 10 years; 5 years is good to enough.

Classic ice wine in the European style. Sweet but not syrupy like a Sauternes, Not as heavy as I expected. Good stuff.

Could definitely use a few more years of cellaring. Nonetheless the tannins are grippy but not overpowering. Can't wait for 2016!

The '09 seems like it's fallen off the cliff: not sure if it's because it's organic, but this vintage just didn't have anything to offer. If you have any left in your cellar you might want to dispose of it soon.

Still delicious after all these years! Sedimented as expected, but still had plenty of tannins. Oak is still noticeable, but exceptionally smooth and easy-drinking as a Merlot should be.

Not as good as the 2007s I've had last year. The 2008 was missing something: the ominous taste of a good P-N that separates it from all other varietals.
