Full nose and palate - well within the Chassagne style, between Meursault and Puligny in breadth and precision. Dense packed fruit and some backbone with aromatic length to the finish. Comfort in a glass.

Showed well. Aromatics and palate provided forest floor, black and cayenne pepper, light textured but full of Vosne spicy character, fine finish length.

Dark with a nose of wood, cinnamon, leaves and a firm Bordeaux palate of berries, rock, acid, with velvet tannins and a savoury finish. Enjoyed this. Had at Next Door with their lamb ribs.

Domaine Faiveley Mercurey La Framboisiere 2015. Bought in Montreal, I’ve never had a bad Faiveley Burgundy. This one is generous nose of iron and strawberries and the palate is both bright and savoury with a velvet tannin that makes you keep pouring glasses.

Had on Celebrity Equinox USD54. Showed well with light yellow and soft white floral butter aromatics. Palate was rich and fruit still ample and the acidity and mineral flavours completing a good 10 second finish.

Amazing nose of ripe fruit and tobacco and palate of dense berry and minerals and acid finishing long and lush. A beautiful Bordeaux Margaux third growth, my favourite, and I remember the times when this was $85 at LCBO a decade ago

A solid showing of aromatics and palate appropriate for Barolo at the basic level - full bodied, dark fruit.

Opened at dinner with the GrapeNuts. Cork was broken and crumbling due to amateur server who bent the cork, but I managed to recover it all.

Garnet hue, nose was cool dark fruit and palate was a mix of ripe black fruits and low notes of iron tapering to a length of 10+ seconds. Solid masculine Gevrey style.

Showed really well at dinner with the GrapeNuts. Light gold, nose at first muted sulfur, then toasted nuts, solid on the palate with white stone fruit and yellow tropical fruit, broad oily and generous with a firm acid long finish. Great all the way down the bottle.

First time with this. Opened with muted nose but palate was full of tropical fruit first and supportive acidity second. Then within minutes the nose offered lees and toast and a generous plush long finish.

My first Montrachet. Nose started shy then the citrus peel and white flowers and vanilla and honey, the aromas grew intense over the hour. Palate was so deep and complex with nerve, mineral, subdued fruit making way for a long and layered finish. So full of substance and yet so light it is quite different than Premier Cru Puligny or Chassagne, very impressive but not super showy either. Class and refinement.

24 hours after opening

Deep nose of florals like violets and baking spices, cloves, cinnamon, cassis, cigar box. Palate is dense, lush, abundant dark fruits, solid core of integrated fruit and tannin and earth, peppercorns, tapering to a luxurious velvety thick and balanced twenty second finish.

Opened with the Grape Nuts and was immediately enjoying the bouquet but regretting the monotone palate. Glad half was saved overnight to produce this note!

Opened at Jacob’s & Co. Steakhouse in Toronto for my 50th birthday.

Nose opened quietly but every minute the magnitude grew. Graphite. Cassis. Blueberry. BlackBerry. Clove. Balsamic. Palate presses softly then solidly but no heaviness.
Tannin like finest tea, runs so long like 40 seconds. This is so vibrant so balanced so exciting not tired it’s like Bruce Lee. Bad analogy. It’s SO good that you could impress a newbie and a veteran with Chateau Latour and they would both say WOW. Then when you have the steak the black pepper of the wine comes out. The wine aromas change as you swirl. Next it’s a Barolo! Next it’s a Pomerol! Next it’s that Lafite we had a few months ago! The class is off the charts.I actually opened the same vintage 1999 Ch. Latour almost ten years ago. Then, it was too young. I think I hit the window!!

Cork had some white dust on top. Pulled with some effort with a two-pronged ah-so opener. Dark garnet with some clear edges. First nose revealed Bordeaux nobility right away - dense with slowly unfurling complex closed blue flowers, with time the aromas opened to anise, fine herbs, spices, then with more time the oak discovery was the finest I ever smelled, bringing round all the aromatics of a perfectly balanced wine. First sips the palate had higher volume than the nose, and the flavor transitions from initial attack to mid palate were rich with fascinating contours and elegantly complex flavours of age-appropriate cool dark fruit, supported by depth and structure that grew as the finish lingered for twenty seconds or more. With time the aromatics gained width and the palate was plush and luxurious enjoyment. The balance and movement of flavours and smells were amazing to me - all that I love in Pauillac, in Bordeaux, in wine. Flawless.

Shared at home with friends over roast lamb.

Bought on Celebrity Equinox at the Tuscan Grill. Shiny ruby. Generous nose of florals and red fruit and some herbs. Palate was silk smooth tannins, so young yet so polished it amazed me again after years having had the last Tignanello from 2007. Decent length and so delicious.

Opened too young, but I wanted to try this out at Charley's steak house in Orlando with their bone-in rib steak. Dark ruby. Aromatically dense with earth and the fruit implied this can be a floral and complex sniff with the right time in cellar and glass. Palate had that sought-after mineral notes and again the fruit suggested a long sleep would reward richly. Saved some the next day out of a paper cup paired with some Chipotle's Mexican grill on the down-low and it was much more open, complex, deep.

2015 Domaine de Tourtelles Macon Villages. Average age of vines is 55 years! It is a very light straw, nose is white flower and palate is that immediate Macon snappy crisp Apple and light herbaceous / leesy character for a complex enjoyable acid steel tank maybe a miniscule oak finish of replaying 15 seconds. good QPR not as far as Talmard but really good in its own right!

Served chilled. Light straw. Quiet nose of citrus and white stone fruit. Palate broadens with lively acid balanced with lemons, limes, grapefruit, broadening on the mid palate, with mineral and the acids delivering lots of structure to a long thirty second finish of replaying flavours. Showed very well with distinction above Bourgogne level. Would buy again. Opened at Melanie's Bistro with the GrapeNuts.

Served lightly chilled. Deep straw colour. Funky nose (diminished over the hour) followed by ripe stone fruit and mellow floral aromas. Palate very broad with laid-back maturing fruit, lees contact providing some complexity and good mid palate presence, with softened malo acids bringing it all to a medium 15 second finish. Stays within Bourgogne territory, feels like Meursault naturally. This is not a bargain at current prices. Opened at Melanie's Bistro with the GrapeNuts.

Wow. At first I was convinced this was corked but set it aside hoping for more. 18 hours later Medium garnet. Nose of little funk, charred meat, leather, black peppercorns. Palate of intense mature fruit that shows appropriate age but maintaining rustic Nuits character with Vosne spices of clove and cinnamon and a broad mineral acidity and a very long finish with rounded tannins and flavour replays several seconds. This should not be a Burg for those starting their way, but is an education in patience for a bottle to miraculously come alive the next day.

Dark garnet. Soft nose of wild forest dark cherry and palate of black and red berries and velvet tannins that stay through the long finish. What first offers a Bourgogne is followed by a steady mineral stream of sweet top notes with savoury sour bottom notes sandwiching that tea like tannin finish and a smoky end. Is it Chambolle? Maybe a more masculine side of it.

I'm not a Pinot Grigio guy. But first taste of this, was impressed by its lively aromas of fresh bright fruit and floral and voluminous palate within a narrow range very similar to Chablis Premier Cru sensations of saline mineral and a long finish. Held up nicely to charcoal grilled Thai chicken, pepper and cumin shrimp, and even Korean short ribs. At $20 in Ontario, its got good QPR and I would buy again.

Ten years in the wine is a dark ruby. Generous nose of herbs and earth and mix of ripe and stewed fruit. The palate texture is rich with a bowl of mixed berries and spices, and the structure of tannins like well-broken-in leather and slight mineral acidity and gives a long complex finish. Matched with bone in ribeye at the Keg, wife loved it. Next day still delivered only more relaxed. Not much sediment.

Dark ruby. Serious mature violet and dried herb nose. Palate delicious and generous mix of aged dark red berries, dark chocolate, silky tannins, pencil lead, tobacco, rich and beautiful Margaux Cabernet in its secondary stage.
