Eye: Red core moving out to an orange briwn translucent rim
Nose: redfruits, black cherry, earth, spice and mineral
Palate: candied cherry and cranberry, pomegranate jam and earth. With medium plus acidity and medium to long finish.

Overall this was beautiful...it actually can go another 5 years for sure. The wone was fresh and still plenty of fruit. Lovely, enjoy!

PNP and enjoyed over a couple hours.

Eye: Purple but not opaque.
Nose: Immediately it is dominated by oak. After vigorous swirling and some short time the bouquet opens up with bright black fruits and some graphite. the oak clearly in the background at this point.
Palate: the fruit that was coaxed is center stage from front to mid palate. Full of juicy plums and blackberries. On the back end cedar and a sturdy grip but not overpowering with a medium to long finish.

Overall i thought this was good. It is actually accessible now with a 2-3hour decant. I think it can age another 5-7 years but i don't think there is long term potential here. Again i thought this was a nice wine but for the price point i think there are better opportunities, at least in this vintage. Enjoy!

2/11/16, 6:38 PM - Try the 2012 Château Malescot St. Exupéry. It is 1/2 the price and same satisfaction perhaps a bit better.

Eye: Deep crimson, opaque
Nose: Blackberry, blueberry and vanilla
Palate: Black n blue fruits, cassis, cigar box and smokey with integrated tannins and a medium to long finish.

I opened this poured a glass, let it sit for only 30mins and was amazed at how smooth it was! Overall a nice full bodied CA cab and still surprised given the appellation how approachable this was right now. Enjoy!
