I purchased with an oxidized cover from a reputable dealer. The cork was intact, no seepage noted and the wine was well within the neck. I double decanted and left the cork/cap off the bottle. The nose was pleasant typical of this age and year, but the initial taste was tannic and musty and these features were quite overpowering. I gave up on an 1983 Palmer too early once perhaps bc of this. On the suggestion of my friends @drinkbordeaux.com I let it sit for an hour. It softened and turned into a great bottle of wine with tertiary characteristics, currant, tobacco, plum, etc.

Enjoyable bottle, great QPR. I wanted to try something else from 1986 besides the more obvious. I would rec purchasing more.

Not ready at this time. Very good in the spirit of O'Shaughnessy. Hold onto it as they won't have a 2018 vintage bc of fires I believe. I had 1 Mt Veeder and 2 Howell Mountain. I will store the rest for a bit.

Enjoyable bottle of 20 + year St. Julien. I double decanted and drank half the bottle one night and the other the second. I didn't feel it gained much on the second night, like some northern rhone can.

I completely agree with the 95 + ratings. This is an excellent bottle of wine. The 82 is my favorite, the 89 a close second. The 1990 is preferred to the 98 or 2000 at this time in age for me. Above are the vintages I have tried thus far. Note I haven't had a bottle pre dating 82.

Decanted for two hours. Pleasant and has age potential. Respect more negative swinging comments below but I would vote to pack 6 away and drink over next 10-20 years. I would argue a reasonable QPR given region and vineyard.

Meaty, tobacco, tannic, mushroom. There is no late fruit finish like the 82'. Black currant in the back ground. I question whether my bottle is slightly off. Purchased from Acker Merral and Condit. My review is in contrast to one last I posted last year January 2019. I initially planned to do 2/3 bottle with a coravin but got cork seepage with the needle. The cork seemed intact, but because of what happened with the coravin, I used a Durand and it was removed easily. These comments are following a double decant back into the washed 1983 bottle and an immediate pour. After about 30 minutes the tertiary notes are coming out and the wine is more approachable. There is more fruit exposed now. Very enjoyable will up score to 93.

I split into two nights. I should have decanted longer initially and found it not very approachable. The second night the wine was well balanced with less tannic force than the first night. I also noticed animal fur for the first time. Tertiary fruit was present. Overall a good wine, maybe a slightly off bottle? I wouldn't score this particular wine I had that night a 96. Plan for more at some point after COVID ends.

Extremely fruit forward and lacking in any tannic balance.

Good bottle. Double decant. I was underwhelmed to some degree however. Compared to the Cos of 82, Cos performs better. I purchased from HDH a case at auction. Drank a 1995 Leonetti cab in the same night. Hamburger and hot dogs. Good nose, lacking tertiary notes. Minimal tannin. Maybe its my palate and genetic make up not allowing this bottle to express its full potential. Plan is to try another time. I purposefully don't read my previous reviews to help some with bias. This review is in contrast with past 2 reviews which makes me happy that could be bottle variability.

This is a good representation of an older cab from Washington with moderate age potential. I recently became a member of mailing club after a 2 year wait so approach my review with a little bias. My goal is to understand Leonetti better. I purchased for 69 at Benchmark in 2016. Great QPR and if more available buy if you like to compare vintages for this vineyard.

There was bottle variability from the last one. It was acidic in the beginning and I thought was ruined. It opened up over 2 hours and became a pleasant wine with accents of black fruit and the acidity quieted. I didn’t like this bottle as much as the last I had.

Good for educational purposes for me. I have 2 others and wonder if there will be bottle variability and the others will be more pleasant. This particular bottle had more acid than fruit. I didn't decant long at all. I feel the fruit has faded and this n=1 experience represents a wine that is past its prime.

Fading fruit. I didn't decant. Nose is pleasant. Not powerful at all. Acidic initially but this softened over the course of the hour in the glass. Su bois. Mushroom. I have had 3 of these. 1 corked and 2 as written above. It was good to taste the processes from the 1970s that created this wine. Less sophistication but they still got it done. The wine is just becoming more and more past its prime so I would rec to enjoy. I won't be buying more.

Right bank Bordeaux Washington blend. They print the percentage of grapes used in the 2014 Harvest on the front of the bottle which I find very scientific. This is a wonderful wine now, but be patient and open in 2-3 years. Try again. Great QPR. Last time I drank was in 2017 and I stated "needs more time".

My last bottle was corked or overoxidized. The actual cork structure of this one was better intact although fill level was similar to prior bottle. After a short decant the wine is pleasant, the acid overpowers the remaining fruit but not in a completely detrimental way. I'm not sure I would buy more of these personally except for educational purposes to compare to other vintages. I drank over 2 days keeping the other half in the bottle. It was still drinking well the 2nd day.
