On the palate, light bodied citrus, floral/honey, yellow apple, lemon/lime, creamy mouthfeel, low acidity with a medium finish to honey & chalk.
Even though the flavour profile was good, the overall taste wasn’t, but definitely better with curried fish than on its on.

Hadn’t tasted this grape before & decided to try an authentic Austrian version.
Slightly darker than pale lemon in colour with somewhat restrained aromas of citrus, wet gravel & blossoms/honey.
On the palate, light bodied citrus, zesty lemon/lime, blossoms/honey, a yeasty/biscuit note, electrifying high acidity with a long finish to chalky minerality, a hint of white pepper & green apple in the aftertaste.

Tasted the 2011 earlier this year & wasn’t impressed. This 2013 is much better & the drinking window of this vintage is definitely longer than 2023.
Will be interesting to taste my final bottles of both vintages. Other than the tannin, the 2013 is very Pinot Noir-like.

The grapes were handpicked from 70 year old vines grown on steep slopes. After traditional fermentation, aging was done for 15 months in 70% new & 30% one year old oak barrels.
Tasted after a 90 minute decant & double aeration.
Dark ruby in colour with a distinct purple hue. Immediate classic aromas of cured meat, earth, sweet black fruit with a distinct floral note.
On the palate, full bodied tart mostly black fruit, boysenberry, sour cherry, cassis, quite floral/lavender(?), cedar, high acidity, medium slightly angular tannins with a long finish to black pepper & cassis.
This wine is young but balanced, even at 15% ABV, with good flavour & the structure to cellar successfully. At this point it has a dominant floral overprint, nicely done!
Still great flavour on day #4, dominantly floral cassis. Definitely on the repurchase list!

Purchased after a recent Wine Spectator 92 point recommendation.
Tasted after nearly a 2 hour decant.
Dark ruby in colour with lovely aromas of sweet black fruit, floral, black olive tapenade with a hint of cured meat.
On the palate, full bodied, full bore black fruit, cassis/blueberry/blackberry dominant, milk chocolate, floral, well integrated oak, high acidity, medium, relatively soft tannins with a medium to long finish to intense black pepper.
This wine is definitely high test Aussie Shiraz, & probably not for the elegant Syrah lovers. The ABV 16% is over the top, & the flavour is not particularly complex, but it is enjoyable.

Initial aromas were citrus & a somewhat green grassy fragrance a la Marlborough that blew off quite quickly to add a hint of floral & tropical fruit.

The profile on initial tasting is not complex, but the flavour is pleasant & the lively acidity is lovely!

The grape for this wine is listed in CellarTracker as Nero Di Troia, which is the normal grape for this DOC. However, the winery website lists the blend as 70% Aglianico, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Syrah.
Tasted after a one hour decant.
Dark ruby in colour with lovely aromas of floral black fruit, leather, dusty earth & cocoa powder.
On the palate, full bodied tart black fruit, blackberry/bramble, leather, tobacco, cedar, earth, cocoa, high acidity, high soft tannins with a long finish to intense pepper.
This is complex, aggressive, balanced wine that punches a way above its price point.
Given the acidity/tannin backbone it should age a bit longer, but drink it now if you’ve got it. Well done!

Pale lemon/golden in colour with lovely aromas of apple & citrus.

On the palate, medium bodied tart black fruit, blackberry, leather, vanilla oak, tobacco/mocha, high acidity, high silky tannins with a long finish to spice & earthy minerality.
Even though 11 years old & the secondary aging flavours have mostly supplanted the primary fruit, this is excellent, complex, balanced wine!
Unfortunately does not appear to be available in my area now, disappointing!
