2015 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

I was expecting more out of a 2015 Brunello. It was good but hardly living up to the hype of this vintage. Not really giving up anything besides cherries and tobacco notes. Even drinking over 2 hours. Did not decant but didn't have a decanter with me on vacation. In hindsight, a dump into a pitcher or glass would have probably helped in a pinch. Hoping some additional years in the bottle will let this continue to evolve. Fortunately, the first of many Brunellos that I bought from 2015.

Am remaining optimistic that the 2015s will start hitting their stride in another 2 or 3 years as well. Cheers!

Plenty of ripe berries and some bing cherries; very smooth with moderate level of tannins; relatively short and simple finish
