A group of seasoned Bordeaux and Cali cab tasters took this on blindly.
To a man, the decision was French. Not even any equivocation. I thought it had a little gunpowder on the nose. I speculated 96 Cos. Another pointed out the dense black cherry, big mouth feel. One thought LaTour-ish, 1986-1990? Then a vote for 86 Talbot, and described as fading with brett being present. Then someone pointed out the crushed olives and minerals. Scores were 95. 96, 98 with the one low score.
This was followed by a 96 Dom. There was not a single French guess for the 96 bottle.
