Very good Volnay. But may be I was expecting more scent of the Domaine's too much. Should be good for another 5 years+

Opened easily considering the age of the bottle. The wine is very old and very very little life in it. Some said the wine was gone, some said not flawed but has nothing left. Personally thinking...... way passed everything the wine could offer.

Very nice condition, typical pauillac with hints of herbs, tobacco, and just a little light in fruit. Smooth with pretty nice acid. This is a surprise for me as I didn't expect much from it.

Lafite is my most favorite of all 5, but as the price soaring , I get to drink my Lafite less often

Opening the bottle made me tired. The cork was damp and soft and torn in pieces.
The wine is on the other side of the hill, offers cherry, mineral, dry leave. Very smooth in mouth with nice and surprisingly quite good finish.
I think this bottle has a storage condition.

Latour 2003
Very dark purple with sweet caramel with a little noticeable alcoho.l Some say it's like a Top-Norch Napa, but to me I'd say its a super baby Bordeaux. Cassis, black fruits sweet fine tannin but you don't actually feel the sweetness when swallowed. Really big wine but surprisingly very smooth and drinkable !! You don't feel like infanitizing. at all. Very very good fruits. Great wine to be.
My beloved elders said that this type of Latour is completely different in style to those of older vintage when it was always backward and need lots of time to mature. How can I tell?

Harlan Estate wine dinner (Harvey , Bangkok, Thailand): My 2nd bottle of this wine. Big and lust, with the most CA cab of the night. Very young with dark purple color. Nose blackberry, cedar, creamy caramel. Big in mouth with big tannins but sweet. Rugged and should be laid down for a long long time. The wine fade pretty fast both in terms of the nose and in mouth.

Harlan Estate wine dinner (Harvey , Bangkok, Thailand): The 1991 has just been added to the tasting in the last minute.
Still a young wine in terms of its color, dark ruby red with black fruits, forest floor, truffle. Old Harlan reminds me a little of many of the old " Cults " which offer very little french oriented comparing to those "french oriented" Napa.
Very firm and delicate tannin with somehow a little too average. still has a very long live ahead and may benefits a little more with time.

We celebrate the new year 1 day later. At the Inter Continental, Hua Hin with Maria Sharapova sitting 2 tables away.

Not an ideal bottle of the 1989 Palmer, a tied nose came right off 1st pour. It may have suffered a storage issue during some period.

With time the unpleasant smell was gone. The to die for nose of herbs, wild flowers, red fruits, some tobacco, smokey meat. The wine wasn't quite balanced as the acidity was way too high and the fruits was not lived up the the other elements, perhaps it's a storage problem. Still a very nice and fantastic wine to drink for this 2010 new year

Nice and easily remove cork. The killing nose of big and nearly mature bordeaux, blueberries, mint and milky smell. very big and firm tannin with a chocolate like in mouth. The wine keeps getting better and better with the smooth tannin in the end. Exceptional aftertaste. Montrose is my favorite St.Estephe

Along with 1989 Palmer, while the Montrose was clearly better all around somehow I do miss the Palmer . . . .

2nd day and the wine picks up its own unique saltiness style. It offers nice scent of sweet caramel, blackberries, blueberries. BUT the taste has lean toward the saltiness, the wine taste salty and become more salty toward the end of the bottle. Is it the style of Greenock as I've encountered most of the wine from this winery has the salty palate.

Pop and pour in about 10 minutes, Dark but with a little mature color. Big lush and fruity with blank fruits, vanilla, cream, herbs, and lastly a candle wax smell. Big and chewy wine with very very little noticeable 15% alcohol. Rich with sweet tannin. Will finish another half tomorrow.

Best Las Cases I've ever had, to me it's better and more mature than the 1982. Killing nose of pauillac like but a little more creamy, gelatin, tobacco and red and black fruits keep changing in the glass. Very fine tannin with long long aftertaste which last nearly a minute

Ready for business now and should stay that way for a very long time.

Top norch quality wine, accessible and impressive. I used to not quite like the Guigal's wine with my limited experience with them. This 1996 Turque changed my mind all the way with its explosive nose of tropical fruits, mineral, vanilla and with Guigal's herbs & spices. Also there was no compromise on the palate, full bodied, but yet elegant. my WOTN

My 1st 2001 and it disappointed me, may be it's the storage problem. the wine is very cloudy and unbalanced. The nose on the other hand offered nice aroma of flower fields, along with light sweet strawberry. The wine did not do well in mouth, still tannic and very little fruits. The aftertaste was great though. I hope that this specific lot will revive as my friend who brought it still has a few in stock. finger crossed.

As dark as the wine from late 90s. very fine cork as well, all of us couldn't believe how perfect the condition of the cork was. Still seem young and thick, bordeaux-like nose as usual for old dominus. Tasted blind with 83 Beychavelle, you could easily detect the sweet tannin and the fruity mid palate of the CA cab. Too bad I only have 1 bottle of this fine CA cab.

While it's obvious that it's too young, it already offered silky palate with full bodied and delicate tannins. Round and uniquely pomerol with killing finish. Excellent wine and will be great with time. Only problem is how to keep my hands off the rest of them in the cellar.

Opened for 3 hour before we first pour. Deep nice ruby with a surprisingly gentle nose than expected. The wine got better with air and became more powerful. Creamy, caramelize with smooth oak, vanilla. Fine and delicate sweet tannin, along with Shafer Hillside Select, this wine stood up nicely. Long lasting aftertaste. This wine showed how important the winemaking is as important as having good raw materials....

Very nice and I really loved it. Is it reasonable for it's price, who knows?????

Very Burgundian in style, Aged color with high acidity ( like Burgs again ). Clean floral nose with mixed red fruits, got better with its 2nd part of the bottle. The tannin picked up some sweet which went along very well with its acidity. Very fine wine overall.
This wine makes me wanna find some other Chave Hermitage to try.

Open 12 hours before drinking. May be I was wrong about the opening time, 12 hours is way too much for this Maiden.
When drinking CA Cab, I always looking for american oak, caramelize and intense aroma which is what I love about it, but this too long opened Maiden didn't deliver what I was looking for at least for the 1st half of the bottle. It displayed opaque color with greeny nose with spices all over the place, black fruits, tasted blind and other thought of good Italian wine instead of CA cab. Big and harsh in mouth. The 2nd glass was a huge step up, the Maiden is back in shape, caramel, vanilla, and creamy stuff recovered and I quite enjoyed it. I think this big cult wine is to be enjoyed as it was made for. Open for 12 hours was a very bad idea.

My friend who's schedule to go back to UK the very next day brought this bottle. I do not expect much out of this bottle as I personally heard that Lafleur requires lots of aging time ( I've tasted 95s and 93s and totally agreed ). Another thing is it's the 94s bordeaux, which to me is pretty strange vintage. I never have quite enjoyed most of the top wine from this vintage so far.
This 94 Lafleur stunned me right off my first sniff. It offers such a beautiful floral and silky nose. Red plums, gravels & damp pebbles, blackberries. The scent of this wine blown me away. Still young but accessible now. Medium bodied wine with sweet tannin which will be at it's best for a long time with the long long lasting finish. ( My WOTN ).

My 2nd time with this great year of Las Cases. This giant is still in it's youth ( 27 years old ? ), by the appearance of it's color I think everybody must be fooled. It's posses garnet purple color with a light brownish rim. Muted nose, just like my 1st bottle a year ago. I cannot find such nose of fruits but when drinking you can tell that there is fruits in it but it just won't explode. The tannin is delicate but strong that can't be enjoyed much tonight. Great body but the palate keep changing which makes it very difficult to try to drink it now. I hope that the tannin would fade very soon while the fruits are still holding on otherwise it will still be a very difficult to drink wine. Great long lasting aftertaste though

My 2nd time with this great Lafite. I must said that great bottle of mature Lafite offers such a memorable moment. Clearly first class nose of smooth cassis, pencil leads, cigar box. The color was just as it suppose to be for it's 33 years of age. A friend of mine who has just had this beauty not long ago said that the wine gets better after the 1st hour and this bottle is no exception. 2nd glass was even better!, with fine tannin ( which will keep this wine to be as good for a few more years ) and a little more weight and red fruits. Incredible aftertaste. What a wine...
