I continue to enjoy wines bu DAOU and this simple Cabernet was no different. However, of all of their wines this is the simplest and less memorable wine.

Young and dark purple with limited clarity. Nose was tight with red fruits and hints of oak spices.

Decently balanced as the alcohol and tannin seems tame and complimentary. The palate was medium+ in body with juicy red fruits and again oak spices. Simple yet enjoyable especially if you can score it in the $20 price range.

I have been enjoying this wine for several years and have found its really a food friendly wine, especially with red sauces IMO.

It is starting to get a little tired and I will consume the last few bottles soon. The nose is still hanging on to the fruit but the age and secondary flavors are emerging. Just a slight bricking on the edges but nothing to indicate 13 years of age.

The palate shows more of the secondary flavors of prune, older red fruits and some truffle to finish this out.

The wine has some oxidation on it so very little to no decanting is needed but that is my preference. Best enjoyed with food as it still delivers a great pairing!

A nice bottle, not as good as previous vintages but still quite nice.

Black fruits, spices, leather and hint of smoke. Nice balanced and just enough tannin to keep this held together.

Unbelievable but only dropped 1 point my rating in 2008. This was my last bottle of this wine and it was just as good, well very close to just as good.

Opened and decanted for 30 minutes. For older wines like this I prefer a shorter decant since they have been exposed to some oxidation over the last 20 years.

Dark purple with no visible bricking and minimal sediment. The nose was beautiful with dark fruits, cedar box, hints of prune and some light oak.

The palate still had some grippy tannin but fresh and soft flavors of black cherry, blueberry, tobacco and cedar. This guy is mouth filling with its full body yet gentle with a nice finish.

Just 1 notch below the wine it was 6 years ago but WOW it still delivers!!

Another fun find from the Lake Chelan area. This is another red Rhone blend comprised of 73% Syrah, 8% Grenache and 11% Mourvédre.

A tad more complex and layered then the Caisléan an Papa IMO with the boldness of the Syrah taking center stage. Red and black fruits with a smokey side and meaty finish.

Visited this winery several months ago and found this to be a delightful red Rhone blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Cinsault and Counoise.

Simple in terms of nose and palate but an easy to enjoy wine that is good alone but really good with food such as hard cheese or beef protein. Big red fruits with some spice and light oak yet medium in body with a nice finish.

The price is also a factor in opening a bottle on Wednesday that is so enjoyable.

A solid and refreshing Chardonnay.

Both the nose and palate are met with bright tropical fruits, creme brulee and enough toasted oak to please the palate without the overload.

Really nice alone or with food.

A very enjoyable Chardonnay with crisp fruit and just enough oak to keep it mellow.

A bright yellow with good clarity. Scents of green apple, peach and a light floral whiff.

Medium body with a nice splash of white fruits and oak. Easy to drink alone and really good with light cheeses.

Young but a power house of a Cabernet.

Beautiful nose of red fruits with cedar and hints of vanilla. The palate was fairly balanced with juicy red and black fruits, cigar box and nice oak spices.

I did not find this very complex but it was tasty, easy to enjoy and very food friendly.

3rd year of enjoying this wine and I think it has peaked.

Good color, nice nose but very shallow on the palate. The fruits have faded and the finish was barely detectable.

Opened a tad early but it was worth it!

Decanted for 1.5 hours. Nose was full of rich black fruit, leather, some chocolate and oak spices. The nose was really really nice!

On the palate it was very consistent with the aroma. Black fruits, cherry, cassis, leather and vanilla spice. The finish was longer than expected so I was happy.

Placed the remaining wine under vacuum at RT for 2 days. Upon open it was softer yet just as powerful and flavorful. I was a tad surprised at how well this hung together. Appears to be a well crafted Cabernet with really good storage potential as most of these are.

Opened and decanted for 1 hour. Consumed over the following 3 hours.

Nose was warm and lush with black fruits, plum and oak spices. The aroma was intoxicating and I would have been happy to just breathe this in for a while.

The palate was smooth and very balanced. The black fruits are center stage wrapped in cigar box, herbal elements and slight chewy tannin. The finish was long and powerful. Even a minute after a sip you taste the fruits, wood and herbal flavors.

Paired with a grilled filet after enjoying a glass on its own and it was perfect. A really nice St. Émilion BDX that has entered prime enjoyment but I am in no hurry to finish the remaining bottles.

A delightful Rose' as usual.

A light to medium salmon pink color with a crisp nose of red cherry, strawberry, hints of tropical fruits and a mineral whiff.

The palate is lively and a tad tart. The red fruits shine in the light body of this rose'. The tropical fruit hints are present and a mineral finish with good hang time.

An outstanding wine and in its prime drinking stage.

Opened and decanted for 40 minutes with some sediment but not too bad. A full nose of rich black fruits, some cranberry, vanilla and rich oak spices.

The longer this was open the more it reveled. A medium to bold bodied wine. Black cherry, blueberry, leather, pencil lead and oak spices. The finish was amazing and long lasting with a hint of black pepper mixed in.

By far one of the better Estate wines I have enjoyed from Montelena. I have vertical from 06 through 15 and these wines need age to fully develop.

Decanted for a short time but this was quite enjoyable!

Dark color with a full aroma of red and black fruits, a smokey edge and some vanilla spices.

On the palate this is very balanced, the acids, tannin and even the alcohol are playing well together. Black fruits, blueberry, smokey woods and a signature pepper finish.

Drinking well and for years to come IMO.

A little disappointed in this bottle. I have had several of these from this vintage and all were very good and past ratings of this exact wine have been 93.

Perhaps in a closed state at the moment. The wine was not giving up any of its normal juicy red fruits or spices, quite subdued to the point I could not describe the flavors or aroma's even after hours in the glass.

Outstanding CdP and ready to drink unless you prefer well aged CdP's.

Dark purple with an almost black core. Nose of black fruits with a meaty side. You get slight pepper and a smoky trail on the nose as well.

Mouth coating, bold and yet balanced. This guy has some alcohol and its seamless in the wine as this point. The black fruits are center with a smoky & pepper finish.

On day two this was as good if not better. Slightly mellowed but the black fruits and meaty, smoky pepper are still in a beautiful finish.

IMO this is ready for most people who love CdP, just the right age on the bottle yet signs of youthful energy. If you love the old CdP's with more prune then wait several more years.

A really nice Pinot that is worthy of time and the WS rating.

A nose of bright yet warm cherry, cranberry and earthy aroma's. The palate is well balanced with bright red fruits and the signature earthy elements of the WV.

Drinking very well and should deliver more with patience.

Solid Willamette Valley Pinot.

Nose of dusty cherry with a bot of tartness. Even after an hour its still wound a bit tight.

Medium body with mildly clear purple color. Dusty cherry, herbs and cranberry on the palate. Somewhat balanced with the acids a little strong at the moment but a nice Pinot that will continue to deliver.

This continues to please and is drinking quite well right now.

A nice blend that is Cabernet dominated with a dark purple hue and lighter meniscus. Full nose of red fruits, spices and herbal scents.

Well balanced and the tannin's have softened up nicely. Rich and mouth coating with red cherry, black berry, cassis, hints of chocolate and a smooth lingering finish.

A beautiful BDX that is in its enjoyment window.

A soft nose of black fruits, cassis, touched of fig and whiffs of vanilla.

On the palate you notice the tannin's are soft but holding this together nicely. Very balanced allowing the fruits to shine with secondary flavors of cassis, chocolate and vanilla.

Not overly complex but drinking very well. Enjoyed this bottle at a friends 50th with filet au poivre sauce and it was a great paring

A beautiful young KB that should offer more down the road.

A light Pinot in both color, clarity and body. A nose of bright red cherry with hints of cola and oak spices.

The palate is medium - in body, fairly balanced and gives fresh red fruits some oak imparted spices and a decent finish.

Very enjoyable now and will be over the next several years!

A young Pinot of a beefy clone but had to give it a go.

Dark purple with limited clarity. Warm nose of black cherry, black fruit with hints of strawberry and spice.

Mouth coating for a Pinot with decent tannin but balanced alcohol and acids. The dark fruits are front and center with a light spice finish. A very tasty wine that surprisingly can be enjoyed alone or with food.

Similar to the tasting notes of others....

PnP and consumed over several hours. Dark purple with limited clarity. On the nose you are met with wet barnyard and then you get to the rich red and black fruits.

On the palate its similar, the wet barnyard is very noticeable but fades after some time to reveal the dark fruit, spice and hints of pepper.

I can see why the barnyard is a block for some but I almost enjoyed it :) I will let my other bottle set for a few years and see if this intensifies or mellows out.

DAY 3. The bottle was vacuumed and sat at RT for a couple of days. On this day the wine was amazing! Still some hints of barnyard but very pleasant. The dark fruits were more subdued but the spices and black pepper were much more prominent. Vary balanced with a very generous finish.

A decent CdP but this requires air time. PnP and first impression was not that good. Nothing wrong with the wine just light, closed and non-existent.

After about an hour or so the aroma and flavor profile started to come into focus. Dark red fruits, mineral and olive flavors emerged. After several hours this pulled into a decent position and the finish became longer.

Not a stellar CdP but decent especially if you can score some below the retail price point.

I enjoy the Pommard Clone and this vintage does not disappoint.

Darker purple with limited clarity. Rich aromas of dark cherry with a meaty and earthy side.

Decently balanced at this age with flavors of dark cherry, oak spices, light smoke, hint of cola and that meaty finish. The flavors blend nicely and drinking well already.

A really nice showing of a Pinot Noir Rose'

A clear yet nicely colored Rose'. A nose of white peach, watermelon and red fruits.

Solid Granache but starting its descent...

PnP with a quick decant in the glass. Dark purple with a nice nose of juicy red fruits with earthy scents.

Lush on the palate with red fruits and hints of prune and mature earthy flavors. The longer this sat in the glass the earthy flavors began to over take the fruits.

Nicely balanced and decent finish but I see this as fading pretty quickly.

Popped a tad early but has to see what was under the hood!

Quick mini decant in the glass and with a few swirls the aroma was seet red cherry with some ceder wood.

A very lush wine with red cherry and oak underpinnings. This is not a complex wine and lacks several layers of fruit, spice and minerals but it is young a very tasty right now!

Opened and decanted for 2 hours.

A darker Pinot with good clarity. The nose is giving up red berry, some clove and oak imparted spice.

On the palate this vintage is spot on and drinking well and this young age. This is not a hold for 10 years wine but a few more years in the cellar will only improve this 2016 vintage.

Paired with rosemary stuffed pork tenderloin and it was perfect. The balanced acids and alcohol met the pork and Rosemary filling with balance and flavor explosion!

A really nice Canernet that is drinking well and above its weight class.

Dark purple with no clarity. A nice aroma of black cherry, cassis and red plum followed by spice and vanilla.

Smooth and balanced with dark fruits, spices and plenty of oak imparted vanilla. Not too much thankfully but enough to round this out and keep it in a balanced sweet spot.

Found this for well below community price and that makes this a winner in my book.

A beautiful Tuscan blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot, 20% Cabernet Franc.

Drinking very well

A year later and same rating for me.

This GSM is quite nice in both wine quality and price. Just another reason why I like exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Still needs some time in a decanter or glass but the red fruits, mineral and earth flavors emerge nicely. Great balance and layers of complexity completes the wine.

A nice showing but my expectations were not met or they were to high.... seems more investigation is needed!

A medium to light purple with good clarity. Nose of red cherry, strawberry and subtle earthy moss.

Decently balanced with a slight edge to the acids. The red fruits are primary with some light cola and earth to round out the palate.

IMO this wine benefits from pairing with food with ease the acids then its a very easy drinking Pinot.

Keeping the same 91 point rating as last year.

A solid wine with substantial red and black fruits with plenty of vanilla... boarding on to much but didn't cross the line.

Out of the single vineyard line up of Flora Springs wines of this vintage this is the least giving but popping the wine still leads to enjoyment!

PnP with some time in the glass before hours of sipping.

Medium purple with good clarity. A muted nose but scents of black fruits and mineral rose up from the glass.

On the palate this was still pretty tight. At this stage there is little complexity which is fine at this price, However the fruits are still muted and not giving up what they have to offer. Seems balanced with a slight acetic edge IMO.

Time in the bottle or a good 2+ hour decant next go-round. Again, at this price point its a good wine so expectations should be matched,

A nice representation of a Pinot Rose'.

Some folks may be surprised by its dark color but no worries, its a rose'. This had a longer maceration period so the color is darker but the gentle flavors of light cherry, watermelon and some hints of white fruits round this out nicely.

Balanced and goes very well with light snacks or a grilled salmon dinner.

This is an easy drinking and very enjoyable wine, especially if you can score some at $30 or less.

Typical dark purple in the glass for a Napa/Sonoma Cabernet. A nice nose of black fruits, herbal scents and oak. On the palate the dark fruits and oak imparted spices are nicely mingled. A decent amount of acids and tannin keeps this wine together and makes it easy to enjoy alone or with food.

I ended up buying a few more given its price and quality attributes. Not over complex at all but at this price point I am enjoying what I am tasting.

First bottle of this vintage and its drinking quite well.

PnP and allowed to decant in the glass. Dark color with dark fruits of black cherry, fresh plum and a pepper trail on the nose.

The palate was pleased! The black cherry and plum carried over to the palate with a nice spice/pepper on the mid palate. The longer this sits open the more integrated and balanced this became. The finish was medium long and this has more body than one would expect, nice with food.

This is a very nice Rhone style blend and at a very nice price point. 55% Syrah 28% Mourvedre, 15% Petite Sirah and 2% Viognier.

Dark color with no clarity. Brooding aroma's of black fruits, slight coffee and a touch of funk.

After an hour in the decanter the funk blew off and the dark fruits including blueberry came though. Hints of coffee, mocha and oak spices round it out. Medium body and very balanced with just a touch of heat. A decent finish that lingered for 5+ seconds.

Good QPR in my opinion.
