I was really worried. The cork was soaked to the top with juice on it and the foil. Had to use the Ah So and screw from the Screwpull together but got the cork out with a struggle. Much better than the last bottle. Good nose and solid fruit on the palate. Whew!!

Held up well. Fully mature with great bouquet with excellent fruit still. A lovely experience with an older well made wine.

Sooo, the absent-minded Professor (of Pediatrics) left home for the cabin without the '96 Dom we were going to have for New Years. Fortunately the local wine store had a bottle of this. Wife and I agree with prior notes. An excellent Dom with all the correct stuffing. Just not a '96.....

As I recall, this was a Wine Spectator (Speculator?) wine of the year a while back. I was told an entire case was allocated to Alabama and I got one bottle. Drank it the other day. It was good but certainly not a wine epiphany experience. Just a solid Bordeaux-like wine with good Cali fruit.

My wife and I were dining with some of my colleagues at a fine restaurant in New Orleans a number of years ago. We ordered a Turley zin. The waiter, who was in training and accompanied by his trainer, brought out the ridiculous bubble glasses that hold at least 20 ounces. He properly opened the bottle and presented the cork to me and poured a taste in my glass. It was superb as every Turley wine I have had has been. After my approval, he proceeded to pour nearly the entire bottle into my wife's glass. The look of horror on the trainers face who was standing behind the trainee was absolutely priceless and my wife, of course, was delighted. The waiter-in-training disappeared never to be seen again and another waiter brought us another bottle on the house so it all ended well. Love Turley wines!

WOW said my wife with the first sip. Unlike some previous reviewers we think this wine is in a prime drinking window with some time at peak left. Huge fruit with a nice balancing acidity. Too bad it was our only bottle.................

Drank for my 70th birthday following a '96 Dom. It doesn't get much better than this, especially if you like Aussie Shiraz the way we do. Too bad we only had one bottle. Perfect with a grilled prime strip.

Wow! For an off year, this is serious juice. Great aromas and abundant fruit with excellent supporting acidity. One left. Will let the '10s and '12s rest a bit longer.

First of a case. The only wine we have ever had from Ridge that we didn't like was one that was corked. Bottle bouquet is getting fantastic. Smooth and balanced on the palate with nicely developing characteristics that only come with age.

How anyone could think this is Bordeaux-like is beyond me. Classic Napa Cab. Very ripe, jammy fruit on the nose and even more on the palate. The aromas emanating from an emptied glass are sublime. If you like big, hedonistic Cali cabs like us, this one's for you. Unfortunately, this is the last one as our budget did not permit bulk purchase of such wines back then.

Wife, Mother-In-Law (whom I like) and I drank 2 bottles before, during and after our 4th of July meal consisting of sous vide ribs finished on the grill, wife's great baked beans and an excellent potato gratin. Excellent wine which stood up to the savory food. Divine nose, solid mouth feel without any hint of heat from the relatively high alcohol. Lingering finish. Liked it a lot.

At 20 years old, this wine is finally entering adulthood. This is why we buy and cellar fine wine. Everything you want in a Pauillac - Great nose, full bodied with the usual graphite, cedar, chocolate flavors. Lingering aftertaste. Just lovely. At nearly 68 myself and with 9 bottles left, I will try to open one per year. Hope I make it that far to see how it turns out!

Next to the 89 (3 bottles left), this is our favorite Beaucastel. Everything you want in a CdP with just enough of the barnyard to let you know what it is. Bricked color, powerful nose and lovely balance on the palate. Stood up well to the city ham cooked sous vide at 140 for 5 hour. Yum.

It really hurts your feelings to cellar a wine for many years, only to find it corked. Hurts your feelings even more to pour it down the drain. 1997 Phelps Insignia was also corked. Damn.

Holy Moly!! First of a case and glad we waited this long. Still in its adolescence, but this is serious juice. I pulled the cork and let the bottle sit for about 15 minutes, during which the aromas filled the room. Great bouquet. Great fruit. Great mouth feel. Balancing acidity and a finish that goes on and on. I'll try to stay away for a few years but it will be hard to resist. First class stuff.

My wife, mother-in-law (whom I like) knocked off 2 bottles for the 4th of July. This wine is controversial and gets a bad rap for residual sugar. In fact, it was a perfect foil to the sweetness of my wife's awesome baked beans and sweet warm potato salad and my BBQ ribs and chicken.
