This is a fantastic bottle of wine. I don't know how this can have anything but 90+ reviews. We popped and poured, just for a taste, and then decanted for about 2-3 hours. Nice color, slight bricking as noted below. Barnyard/forest floor nose; musty, yet attractive and begging to be tasted. Herbs and dark berry palate, perhaps some mushroom and leather hidden in there as well. Just kept getting better and better in our glasses as the night progressed. I am thrilled to have three more bottles. Absolutely delicious.

Red/dark berry nose with the same on the palate; black pepper noted on the palate as well. Very nice with corned beef.

Wish I had taken notes on this one, but because I didn't, I don't feel it's fair to give it a rating. However, I do remember it being absolutely delicious. Brought it to a family dinner of homemade beef stew, and it was the star of the night. Everyone indulged. Luckily, I have a couple more bottles. I think I'll keep those for myself. I do remember that this has a rather high ABV...16% if memory serves, but it didn't seem too hot at all. Looking forward to my other bottles.

Not sure what it was about this wine, but it just wasn't for me. I'm typically a PN fan, but I found this to be rather harsh on the palate. I have another bottle, so I can see at some point in the future if it's the wine or just me.

Similar tastes to my other notes, different pairing. Shared with family and friends and a Christmas Eve dinner of Tur-Duck-En. Sad to see my last bottle go, but everyone enjoyed it.

Wonderful. This local winery is a favorite of ours. Very few bottles made; less than 2,000 per the winery. Fruit forward, semi-dry, and delicious. We shared it with family and friends during and after a Christmas Eve dinner of Tur-Duck-En. Incredible pairing with both white and dark meats.

PnP, drank with dinner of medium rare pork tenderloin; always a nice pairing. Red fruit nose, cherry and maybe some white pepper on the palate. Came back to a glass after dinner and it was quite good. Mild, well rounded tannins and an easy wine to drink.

Drank alone, PnP. Red berry nose and quite fruity, red berry palate as well. Not real complex, but nicely balanced. Agree with the note below about it being a good everyday drinker. Enjoyable.

Decanted approximately three hours. Earthy, forest floor in the nose and dark berries on the palate. Soft tannins, full bodied. Not a bad drink at all. Paired with a homemade pizza.

A blend of 100% Illinois-grown Frontenac, Chambourcin, and Marechal Foch, from one of my favorite local wineries. Paired with barbecued ribs. Ruby colored in the glass, cherry in the nose and on the palate. Well-liked by all.

PnP. Blackberry, pepper, cherry nose. Dark berry on the palate, medium tannins, and a full body leave a lasting impression. I got distracted for a couple hours, and came back to this with some slight changes in my glass that simply added to its enjoyment. Excellent.

Nicely done. Deep garnet in color, and I am in agreement with the note below regarding the dark berry nose and palate. It had some notes of black pepper in the nose for us as well. A little hot on the palate, but deliciously fruit forward, spicy, and well-rounded. We neither used the Venturi nor decanted, and although it is older than two years, I still did the Mollydooker Shake. Flavorful, lengthy finish. Good drink.

Delicious! Paired with a cheese plate of aged gouda, aged cheddar, goat, and brie. I set it in the fridge for about 10 minutes prior to drinking, then PnP. A light violet in the glass, spicy and red berry in the nose and on the palate. Light bodied and nicely structured. I'm happy to have three more bottles.

With homemade chicken pot pie. Not bad at all. Lemon/apple nose, same with oak on the palate. We took this out of the cellar at ~60 degrees, and chilled it just a bit more before drinking. I believe that alone may have bumped up the score from my previous rating.

Pop and pour, and maybe that was a mistake. I think this needs time to open up. Drank with family, and they enjoyed its fruit and complexity. I have a couple more bottles, and I'm hopeful I can last a few more years before I get into them.

Delicious! Opened this bottle about two or three hours before I let anyone touch it, and it was magnificent. Dark berry, smoky nose and dark berry, chocolate on the palate. Well structured, well balanced. Enjoyable drink.

Maybe I got a bad bottle, but I can't agree with many of the rest of the notes/tasters. This just wasn't very good. Loosely structured and disjointed. I did not give it any air. I have a couple more bottles, and I may decant the next one.

This was pretty good. I shared this bottle with family and fiancee. No complaints from this bottle at all, and I know I am an Argentine Malbec fan, but I didn't get the chance to write down any notes. Regardless, I remember it didn't have any major character flaws, and I enjoyed the bottle. I have one more, and look forward to drinking it, perhaps alone next time!

I thought this was good. Shared with family over a dinner of homemade sloppy joes, of all things. Beautifully dark in color, smoky in the nose and dark berry on the palate with a long finish. I'll likely save my other bottle for myself!

Very good. 70/30 Sangiovese/Cab Sauv blend. Nice purple color, dark berry and petrol nose. Dark berry with palate coating tannins initially. Full bodied with a medium-long finish. After a couple hours of air, the tannins eased up but it maintained the lengthy finish. Quite enjoyable.

Tasted this early last year with Anthony Truchard at a wine pairing dinner in Aurora, IL. We bought a bottle then, and very much enjoyed it a year later. Very Good. Creamy, a little buttery, a little oak, good fruit.

I am again very satisfied with this wine. Similar to my note on 22 August 2013 with the very same pairing. I decanted again, but this time for about two hours, with very pleasing results. Lots of berry in the nose, and a good amount on the palate as well. Delicious.

Okay. Opened and decanted for approximately one hour, then drank over the next two hours. Still moderately tannic, with sediment in the bottle and in the decanter. Medium-long finish. Just didn't seem to be a whole lot else. Maybe dark fruit in the nose and on the palate, but not greatly structured.

Paired with Shepherd's Pie at the winemaker's suggestion. Not a bad pairing, but just not a real pleasing wine to either my fiancee or myself. Red berry nose; not very structured or complex at all on the palate. Fair, just not for me.

Fantastic wine from a local winery, made with Illinois grown Vignoles grapes. My fiancee and I paired this with a light pasta and clam sauce, salmon rolls with cream cheese, escargot, and kipper snacks on crackers. Fabulous pairings!! The wine is aromatic, with a nose of citrus and apple, and the same on the palate with perhaps a hint of nutmeg. Well balanced, good acidity, nicely structured. This was gone much too quickly...I'm sure we'll buy more.
