3/22/24, 8:06 AM - Yeah, this wine is so good and in such a sweet spot.
3/17/24, 5:31 PM - Love the note; it really encapsulates Verset for me--with the crazy nose and complexity in a surprisingly svelte package. 85 Verset was the best wine I had all of last year. Sounds like I need to find an occasion to pop a 96.
11/13/23, 12:31 PM - What a beautiful descriptor of this wine. "Like an old person" is spot on. I opened an '85 a few weeks back, and it was similarly majestic. Maybe the best bottle of Syrah I've ever had.
3/14/23, 12:01 PM - Hard to know. We drank this in a study of 12 btls of Pommard 1ers, and this came in last. I've had inconsistent experiences with M. Gaunoux. This was my third bottle. First was good not great. Second was corked. Then this.
2/8/23, 7:40 AM - This benefits from air. I'd give it at least an hour in the decanter and then follow it in the glass. But if you have a case, I'd definitely give one a try.
1/28/22, 3:39 PM - Great note and spot on with my experience. Really satisfying now but in 10 years or so it's going to be very special.
11/18/21, 6:38 AM - I have found all of the '16 Ramonets to be flat (granted, I haven't tried the GCs). Others disagree, but it has been my consistent (and disappointing) experience. I'm uncertain whether the future will be brighter.
7/10/21, 7:36 AM - Very dismaying note. This was so beautiful on release, but I've feared that it has deteriorated.
4/7/21, 10:54 AM - Love the note and totally agree -- 08 Rayas is magical and a wine that totally transcends the vintage.
12/5/20, 5:22 PM - I haven't had the 164eme or Cristal quite as recently so I don't have a lot of wisdom here. My instinct to hold the Cristal, which too is pretty dense and lemony (but spectacular). The 164eme is also built for the long haul but I suspect it will be a bit more generous throughout its lifespan.
7/28/20, 7:06 AM - Yeah, this wine has always been seriously great -- and shockingly satisfying now given the producer/vineyard/vintage.
3/1/20, 6:09 PM - I doubt this will hit its peak for 15+ years, but it's juicy and beautiful now. Rousseau wines often don't shut down too hard, so hopefully this will perform nicely for quite some time.
9/5/19, 5:47 PM - I've had several bottles of this, and they've all showed like your note.
8/6/18, 9:29 AM - This wine has been so good for so long. Pantheon-level Spatlese.
7/13/18, 1:39 PM - MJReb: This was out of bottle and was definitely ‘16 Chaignots (I have a photo), poured by the Domaine in Burgundy. I suppose it’s possible this was a one-off bottling for tastings.
6/8/18, 9:17 AM - This wine is so good and such an over-achiever.
3/20/18, 8:20 PM - This note precisely captures my impression of every Terra di Lavoro I've ever opened.
3/18/18, 9:02 PM - We did not decant, but my wife and I drank it over six hours (actually, I'm still finishing the last glass).
