I read through all of the CT reviews. As happens with some varietals which present in an array of styles, these scores between 89-94. are all “right”. No one can deny this chardonnay is well crafted: rich, balanced, delicious, clean, no off notes. So, that gets us to 89/90. The 4 or 5 points after that are subjective. Regular consumers of great chablis may find Rombauer vulgar, a heavy breathing body builder invading a gentle vegan yoga class. I went through a ten year stage of frequently drinking CA monsters like this: Kistler, Marcassin, Patz and Hall, The Judge, etc, but grew palate weary. I just stopped buying and drinking them regularly. But like a titillating short term encounter with an ex you haven’t seen in years, when you’ve been away then come back, you are well reminded of your faded passion. I love the intense fruits: tangerine, coconut and pear, and that lingering finish of warm toast slathered in remarkably fresh butter, so comforting and decadent. That orange citrus acidity carries through to the end, try this with sole, turbot or lobster and a citrus beurre blanc. Romby, you’re a little fat, but I missed you.

2013 Napa Cabernet Double Blind Tasting at Shane's (Nw Jersey): Decanted around 2pm, put back in the covered bottle around 5pm then drunk from 6-9pm...served double blind to all but our host for whom they were only single blind. "Margaux-style Blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and petit verdot. My #3 of the night by the end but #5 earlier on as it got better with more air. Medium translucent garnet color. Herbaceous nose with lavender, red and black currant and graphite on the nose. Extremely fine grained tannins, lighter weight than some of the other wines tonight, very well balanced with the right amount of acidity, more reddish fruit on the palate with a lot of lavender, and spice box. a little bitter on the finish early but long and graceful by the end of the evening. Very elegant and precise. Great with the food!

As other have pointed out, I was rightfully skeptical of the 91 WS rating, but for $8.99, this is a very good everyday Cab, varietally correct, a click more than medium-bodied, and approachable/drinkable now, pop and pour. There is a place in the world for a wine like this and we have stocked up.
Their Chard and Syrah are pretty decent, too. No aging needed.
p.s. THIS IS A WASHINGTON STATE WINE, NOT CALIFORNIA

Had this as part of a 2009 CA Cab get together. I brought 3 wines, the 2009 O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain (2nd of 7 wines on the night), the 2009 Anakota Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota Vineyard (4th of 7) and the 2009 Larkmead Caberenet (7th of 7), we also had the 2009 Harlan Estate (3rd of 7) that was supplied by our host.

This was my second time opening one of these. So far, I prefer it to the slightly more expensive Mt. Veeder bottling. A lot going on here and its a pleasure to drink, with our without food.

A bit one dimensional, short finish and tons of sediment. Just OK. Way overhyped by wine access.
