Overwhelming barnyard on the nose, very muted neutral palate. Bad bottle.

Very slight spritz to this bottle, seemingly off.

Bright herbal nose with lots of fresh blue fruits. Very refreshing and has some serious complexity for the grape.

On PnP, nose was pretty closed- just some hints of violet and spice. I definitely can see the raw meat echoed by others at this point too. An hour in, and distinct notes of cinnamon stick and eventually some menthol while the palate darkened. Builds with more time... 6 hours of air and the nose finally opened into flowery, liquorice and mint jelly. Palate stayed true to the nose except shut down half way through. This needs more time but has some serious fixings, hopefully night two will continue to develop. 91+

Beautiful entry level introduction to the Mascarello house style. This is classic Dolcetto with fresh and expansive sappy cherries and blueberries. The nose and palate sing after an hour of air.

Juicy ripe red cherry with green stemmy notes that lessen with air. All with a background of attractive forest floor. A little ripe for my palate and not as well balanced as desired, but I can see how this could be a crowd-pleaser.

Red strawberry, roses and herbs on PnP. After an hour, the fruit darkened while the herbs took on olive notes. Mix of Monforte and Verduno fruit, but the Verduno elements win over quite positively for my palate- excellent QPR.

Drank from magnum purchased at winery- truffly earth with cherries and some chalk. Some blueberries hiding somewhere in there too. Give it a year or two and it'll be 90.

Whole different expression of the grape, definitely not a Piedmont wine. Having said that, this was delicious in its own right with loads of cherry vanilla. Yummy.

On PnP- On the nose, beautiful strawberry stands out among a bowl of red fruit punch. The palate is thick yet with silky tannins, the red fruits take on a darker and more candied tone finishing with light spice. After starting very strongly out of the gates, the wine transformed in only 30 min from fruit-predominant to strong menthol and light tar. The mint overpowered the initial complexity for the next 6 hours. Still a great showing.

Wow, talk about a value... by Burgundy standards. Complex yet pure nose of flowers - pink roses, lilacs and white lilies. Also, with lavender and some pine notes present. Wet stone/gravel and a pervasive watermelon rind note. Palate of dark fruit with red licorice and amazing minerality.

Pleasant strawberry/rhubarb nose with a hint of forest floor. Finish was a little too hot with its 14.5% abv.

Not for me, unintegrated oak tannins complement about every red grape grown in Sonoma

Wonderful aged amber color. Exactly what a 20+ year bottle of Sauternes should taste like with loads of complexity and a long finish full of caramel, burnt brown sugar and candied orange peel. Must be bottle to bottle variation...
