9/11/22, 12:38 PM - You may be completely correct, but the drink window I have been using derive from those suggested by the Pro Reviewers. My experience as of today is that I should have already drunk all of my bottles of this wine. As I said, earlier bottles were much more enjoyable. However, the cork problem is another issue. I have tended not have many cork problems with Red Bordeaux wines......even one that go back to the 1989 time frame. My big cork problem has been high quality California Cabernet Sauvignon from mid-1990 vintages.
6/12/22, 3:22 PM - I have been asked how I was disappointed. My recollection is the wine was one-dimensional and lacked the depth and complexity I expect in a Zin.....and have almost experienced with other Ledson offerings.
12/3/21, 1:11 PM - I bought it in 2012 from the Bottle Shop in New Jersey. I would check some of the wine search web sites to see if it is available anywhere.
11/21/21, 2:56 PM - Thanks for confirming my experience.
9/7/21, 8:17 AM - I have had good luck with Sojourn wines at all price points. I last had a bottle of this particular wine in May, 2021, and found it to be up to Sojourn standards and the price point. There are other reviewers that have the same view.......as to the point rating. Perhaps your bottles underwent some bad storage along the way to you.
8/27/21, 6:47 PM - 1989 and 2006
8/28/21, 11:44 AM - Thanks for the input. This case was purchased after I moved to South Florida. There is always a chance it was heat damaged during shipping/storage.
5/2/21, 10:12 AM - I usually note how long I decant a bottle of wine, but for some reason did not do so for this bottle. However, I do remember that I did decant it. I would have never decanted for less than an hour. If I had decanted for more that 2 hours, I would have remembered that. My best recollection is that the decant was in the range of one and a half hours.
6/26/20, 12:36 PM - It certainly could be a retail sourcing problem.....this case was purchased from one of the well know Internet suppliers. However, when I have thought I have had a sourcing problem in the past, the problem I had was virtually always the same on all bottles across the board.....not random events as with this one. Also, the purchase was a full case that came in a box from the winery. Hence, all of the bottles had to be together along the way. Wine is not a game of perfect.
4/29/20, 12:41 PM - I agree......the wine has a style that should appeal to most anyone.
6/14/19, 1:38 PM - I did not decant, but opened the bottle about 2 hours ahead of drinking. It drank steady throughout the evening. Then, the remainder was not as good on the second night. Most of the time that I did not decant (or did not decant enough)…..the wine is noticeably better on the second night. That was not the case here. I have a couple of bottles left and will definitely decant them, especially to see if there is a difference in the experience.
2/25/18, 12:29 PM - That seems to be the smart move.....
7/26/17, 12:22 PM - I have also had wines that rate an 88 that are good. However, they are usually relatively inexpensive. I can find those wines for $20 per bottle and less......not Caymus prices.
7/16/17, 12:37 PM - i have not been able to get my hands on any vintages since the 2010.
9/6/16, 1:05 PM - I do not want to name the source because I have bought a lot of stuff form them without ever having a problem. Also, the negative comments about this wine last year were very large in number.....which means it is very unlikely all of it could have come from this one source. For 2-3 months the reviews were bifurcated.....around 85 or around 95.
6/8/16, 11:25 AM - $24.99 per bottle from wineaccess.com
9/19/15, 2:32 PM - The bottles have been stored horizontally. A bottle in March, 2015, was fine. Then, three bad ones in a row. I had a similar experience a while back with a Oregon pinot noir. The first two bottle were extremely good....then the others were bad (just bad......not the cork). In this case, many others had a similar experience. The current reviews on this wine are either 92-94 or 80 and below, which is very unusual. I believe some thing bad happened.....a part of this production was damaged during shipment or storage (not at the winery). .......or something happened to the wine in a particular fermenter at the winery. However, this is only the second time I have had multiple bad corks for the same wine. The other case was a few bottles of Opus that I might have kept too long.
3/26/13, 3:54 PM - I believe there is one other tasing note on the 2010 vintage that it might not last as long as other BK pinots.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
