Celebrating our 24th anniv on 9-20-21...a wine I bought futures on when I knew this would be our wedding year wine. All bottles have been pretty much perfect! Glad I decanted at home before dinner, as I had a fight with the cork...it shredded into pieces as it was glued to the neck of the sediment caked bottle...should have used the Durand! Decanted, and brought to the restaurant...the wine was in amazing shape! So dark and youthful...silky smooth seamlessness...loaded with rich and pure dark berry fruits...SO integrated and extracted like an oozing chocolate brownie! Has wonderful dusty graphite dryness of tannins...plenty of structure for a long long life...amazing complexities of mint tobacco, herbs, walnut, rich mineral soil, leather, cigar box...went perfectly with an italian herb chimichurri grilled ribeye! Glad to see this wine still going strong as ever after 24yrs...just like us! Of course...always 97pts.

In need of some air upon opening...the bubbles come shooting out...can't contain all that energy! Still spot on from my last note...as the pop rock explosion of bubbles calms, you get an amazingly primal and youthful, raw state Champagne...bursting with citrus energy, yet creamy and sensual in texture. The fruit...candied pineapple, red delicious, dried apple rings...is bright and full flavored...pillow soft ginger mousse caresses the citrus pucker...nuanced yeasty brioche, crushed limestone chalk...just a super balanced mouthful of goodness! LOVE these wines!

I know nothing about this wine...and am not really "into" Riesling, especially German...but I do appreciate the style and a good bottle or two. I was sold this wine a long time ago, from someone I bought Trimbach FE from, and noted that dry style that I prefer. Cracked this bottle on a whim...first noted the tropical creamy fruits...mainly pineapple...green apple tartness...candied peach...banana skin wax...but here is where this wine shines...KILLER crushed mineral salinity! LOVE the dryness in this wine...very Trimbach-ish...smoky flint strike, yet perceived sweetness from the ripe and full bodied fruits...the dryness and crisp acidity...coupled with the exotic tropical flower florals makes it! Waxy and full bodied texture is pleasing...little white honey butter and petrol from aged complexity is engaging...SO pleasing and a true joy to drink!
For people in the know...tell me more about this wine and producer?

GORGEOUS spice in this...sassafras, red licorice, bouquet of red roses...pure fresh crushed Pinot fruit...candied raspberries and cherries...silky smooth and seamless...there is a nice dryness to the sweet fruit with saline red licorice and crushed stone minerality...fantastic brightness and breadth...well integrated vanilla cola and some smoky barrel spice...finishes with a refreshing sour tart raspberry and that killer array of perfumed spice. SO good! Will be buying more of this!

One of the most satisfying 6 packs I've purchased 10yrs ago...all bottles have been a true joy! Wish I had purchased 10 6 packs, as this wine is still climbing. Super perfumed red berry, dried cherry pretties...translucent and feminine, yet still shows a solid handshake structure of crushed minerality...salt rock dryness...a juicy dry...like red licorice, or dried sweet fruits. Subtle elegance, yet one not to shy away from getting dirty...earthy tilled strawberry field, cinnamon stick, dried roses...little sous bois, menthol, leather starting to integrate...still a youthful sour pucker to the long, kick chair back, finish. Just LOVE the easy going subtleness of 07 Burgs...and THIS wine is one of the best!

Note from day two, day one was PnP on the beach! Bought locally as we picked up BBQ tacos, and headed back out to the beach...my first impression was...why the hell don't I buy these when the mailer comes out?? I've been buying RM Chards and Pinots from day one...and seem to bypass the Cabs when they are offered? I guess Calif Cab is still on the back side of the brain right now...still have and love 04-05 Outpost Cabs...but MAN am I missing out! This "basic" Napa CS is CRAZY rich with inky and extracted blackberry/blueberry fruits...not at all over the top sweetness...KILLER graphite dryness, which is a must have for me...plush yet firm dry tannins...dark chocolate brownie oooooze...liqueured bing cherry cordials...dusty white pepper, clove spiced...black licorice, deep compost earth...such BIG-uns...but shows them off with such class and naturality. Killer wine! Will make me rethink next cab mailer.

Such crystalline pureness...rich, yet JACKED with cut...the tropical, white peach fruits are in perfect ripeness...candied pineapple, waxy texture, with a tremendous nervy citrus vein in it. Pretty white flower, lime blossom florals...crushed limestone salinity...nice use of subtle barrel spice, flint strike...really expressive as it warms from fridge temps...incy wincy bite of alc on the long long seductive finish. More intense in everything than the Purrington Rued, which is not necessarily a better thing, as I found the PR just about perfection in balance. Just another amazing Chard from RM!

Disgorged 11-18-20...I believe no dos. Cool looking color! Kind of a metallic aged Burgundy with shiny gold and green tinge...nose of fresh cold apple cider, peach pie, cherry skin, floral lychee. More citrus tingle than I expected...tiny prickly bubbles, more intense citrus cut than I thought it would have...sharp at times...yet there is a super nice ginger/apricot chiffon mousse that creams and calms. Rich and fleshy vinous fruit...wonderful sour to the salt to the ripeness...subtle lees and yeast...less than expected...shows that exotic almond liqueur nuance that I get in these wines...really bright and punchy...the age has brought on some sautéed honey butter, slight bruised apple...but really no signs of aged ox. Fascinating burst of sour energy like a current release wine at first...then the calmness and complexity contemplation like an aged one. I think a little more bottle age will do wonders to polish the balance...would hold another bottle(if I had one) for a couple more years. Another extremely TASTY, and FUN, wine from UM!

First time with this producer, and to be honest, only grabbed a couple bottles at the local Costco because on sale under $20. First thing you notice is the bright RED cherry/raspberry fruit...Cru Bojo came to mind! Needs some airtime as it starts off a little muted...as it opens, has a wonderful fresh crushed cherries vibrancy to it...little sappy and grapey...very pretty potpourri and sandalwood spiced florals...whiffs of white pepper lite up the nostrils...elegant and silky smooth...has some mineral structure to it...crushed rock grip...underbrush rusticity...stem funk...great balance of cherry liqueured sweetness to dryness...no heat...VERY tasty and totally crushable! Would be happy with this at $35...but $19 is steal!

This wine is brilliant! Second go around this year, and it confirms, if not bested, the first! Again, a total DomP reminder...engaging and classy, deep with complexity...yellow apple, smoky lees, chalky limestone, dried honey, caramel apples, griddled pancakes...a graceful, plush, pillow soft lemon ginger chiffon mousse coats the palate...yet VERVY with tingly lemon citrus, cherry skin sours...then a calming contemplation sets in...subtle nuanced truffle butter and white honey...chalky salty minerals...blossom florals...in perfect harmony right now! Like I said last time...such class and brightness...an absolute PLEASURE to drink right now!

47% Roussanne, 21% Chardonnay, 14% Petite Manseng, 11% Viognier and 7% Marsanne, from 41% Eleven Confessions, 30% Cumulus and 29% Bien Nacido...this wine has gotten even richer and packed on some beef since last test drive 5yrs ago! Oily viscosity, dripping in rich and ripe peach, apricot, and tropical fruits...wonderful dry extract, not heavy at all...bright and zesty tingle of citrus acidity livens the FULL bodied goodness...good dose of well integrated oak shows an exotic hot buttered rum spice...smoked lemon grass...long and persistent flavors abound...yet still posses that wonderful waxy and creamy "softness" that I loved the first time. Plenty of structure and impeccable balance holding it all in place...should age well for many a moons!

O....M....G...what a brilliant bottle! Last had this out of Mag 7yrs ago, great then, but simply amazing tonight! Gorgeous shimmering green and gold color...nose of the sea...crushed limestone chalk, lemon blossoms, wet stones, fresh pitted orchard fruit bowl. Just SCREAMS Chablis! So bright and juicy in the mouth with the best orchard fruits...CUT with zippy fresh squeeze citrus, tart green apple skin...and that mineral limestone chalk dust, crushed oyster salinity is to DIE FOR! No signs of age...maybe a little honey butter with total integration. Such purity, seamless balance...a ride on a race boat going 80, in the smooth and calmest of waters...this is what Chablis is all about!

My GOD...the nose! Gorgeous perfumed candied red licorice, crushed cherries, raspberry puree...some leather and sous bois earth tones...slight tomato leaf greenness that doesn't distract. Showing more earth tones with age than last had 4 yrs ago...of course...that bottle was brilliantly bright, fresh, and elegant...this one still a gorgeous feminine and transparent grace...yet not as perky! The pretty red fruits are a little muddled with earth...lifted blood orange acidity, green leaf, with a little edge to it...not in perfect balance as before...yet that nose is worth the price of admission! Still tasty and satisfying...yet might be in an awkward stage right now. So will hold the last bottle for a few more years in hope that the Bertheau magic will return. +pts

3 for 3 with these...another crazy good bottle...even more glimmering yellow gold freshness in this bottle! Not as oily rich as first noted...citrus and crushed oyster shell screams louder...wonderful freshness, integrated with aged nuances of white mushroom and honey notes...buttery sautéed apples, flint strike lees...salty sea air, with a little funk...what a FANTASTIC 17yr old Chablis should taste like!!! Impressive that all three bottles have outdone each one in succession.

An old friend...reloaded on these a few years ago...drank a TON of this back in the day, and 10 or so years ago they were still drinking peak! On the reload, had a few duds...seepage corks, tart and drying...some drinking just ok, but not like the good-ol...this bottle though, is an absolute ROCK STAR! Transported me back to the 90's, when Calif Cab/Merlot was killing it! Classic Bordeaux blend...youthful dark berry fruits...plush silky smooth dusty tannins...still with a firm grip of structure, yet SO open and inviting. Fantastic aged Bordeaux-esk flavors of dried tobacco leaf, leather, cigar box, pencil lead...silky smooooooth...elegant and regal, yet has that sun kissed sweetness of Ca. So complex, and pleasing in the mouth...and washed down after a bite of steak....MMMMmmmmmm good! Like I said in 2009...Great Producer, great vintage, GREAT wine!

Like the 16 Les Monts Damnés...start with some crystalline rainwater...fresh squeeze more grapefruit, limes...quince paste...add some lemongrass, white flowers, dried kaffir lime leaf...ton of salty rocks, smoky flint strike, chalky limestone...then CRUSH and stir! Air out a bit for integration and harmony...this wine! Damn tasty, with room to grow!

This wine reminds me of truffle mac-n-cheese...not in flavor, but more in the comfort food that is SO satisfying...able to be gobbled up without thinking...yet the mind is engaged and tastebuds activated with the added truffles...more so than just straight MNC. This wine is creamy, 1er worthy, and almost balanced too well...nothing stands out, kind of boring to me as I like unique things that scream something! Ripe orchard fruits(pear/apple)...tad sweetness, but like a sweet lemon...crisp and super crystalline pureness...plenty citrus cut and crushed oyster shell salinity. Very pretty white flower, spearmint florals and sweet vanilla bean spice...slight lees. Just a leisurely, uneventful, but totally satisfying cruise down the river. I drank the whole bottle myself!

Day two note...SUPER balance of botrytis candied honey, toffee chews, dried pineapple/apricots sweetness...to the intense tangerine and lemon citrus streak of fresh acidity...salty crushed minerals...FLORALS galore of saffron threads, peach tea, apricot jam, honeycomb. Age has waxed up the sheen nicely...little tobacco spice, wet wool, and orange bitters show in the long, expressive, and even keel finish. Showing a ton more complexities than my last bottle in 2008(duh). Always a regal wine...a treat in itself!

Bottle #10 from a brilliant case purchase 5.5 yrs ago..ALL bottles have reached, and most exceeded, the very high standard of quality that is a wine with the name "Roulot" on it! Most have had a mold tipped corked, and a squeaky cork extraction! Bottle 10 shows more butterscotch, butter sauté apple advancement...especially after the very fresh #9 two yrs ago...yet that lemon/lime citrus still beams bright, and just KILLER crushed chalky limestone salts up the orchard fruits...creamy exotic white honey from age...toasted marshmallow, slight flint strike...crushed handful of lime blossoms and white flowers...the wine gains in geology with air...more rocks and vine struggle...yet the pureness of the fruit is evident. Drinks SO well...with just a skinny whinny tad bit of the ox showing...which is perfectly acceptable at age 14. Ok...another successful bottle! I'm going to be heartbroken when these are gone!

Not the Big Dog...but hey...it's only tuesday! Decanted for a couple hours...67% CS, 33% Merlot...this is DA BOMB! Right off the bat, killer dry extract of licorice and graphite...SILKY smooth pureness...with intoxication floral and exotic spiced dark red berry fruits...cherry, raspberry, plum jelly...still very youthful with a good dusty spiced tannic grip...yet that velvet glove thing. There is really no signs of age from 8yrs ago since I last had a bottle...this has integrated and balanced itself to SE levels...just KILLER savory mineral dryness, kirsch liqueur, sweet exotic spices and perfect wood integration...it has plenty of structure for more age...and tbh...I kind of like it better than the last couple SE's I've had(03/09). Total class wine here!

Brings back memories! Back in the day, these were the "Red Man's" whites...rich and spicy, oak endowed...and full of flavor! Arrowood's Reserve Spéciale was one of best, yet also had a Burgundian touch to the richness that lifted it, and structured with minerality for longevity. At 27 years of age...Dick Arrowood's masterful touch is evident! Still has that rich butterscotch, butter sautéed tropical fruits, toasted marshmallow oak spice, aged exotic white honey, smoky lees...full bodied...smooth and creamy...yet there is a nice cut of citrus, apricot jam freshness that really livens the wine...chalky and spicy crushed minerality shows salinity...no signs of any premature ox, or any over the hill ox...REALLY aging out in pre 96 Grand Cru form! Spice and florals linger on the finish...waxy texture, some tobacco and hazelnut...just explodes with complexity when it warms in the glass! Just an amazing bottle of aged Sonoma Chard...yes...it can be done!

One of the most disappointing purchases I've ever made...these KOBRAND imported CdC bottles. After a couple year hiatus, opened another one of these...and it is STILL like the others...harsh and angry acid-fest! Nothing remotely like the BRILLIANT, plush with cut, 4 bottles of the "Kirkcrest" Euro bottles I initially had before the reload purchase that blew me away! SO disappointing...and quite frankly, has made me not want to purchase anymore vintages of CdC, of which I haven't. Also hate the bottle shape that doesn't rack. But...MAN...those first four bottles were SO SO goooooood!

This showed up at the local Costco for $39, never had this producer, so I had to give it a spin. First off, I am a sucker for young, fairly inexpensive Barolo...love to put a little chill on it, enjoy the mouth puckering dryness...the tasty crunchy vibrant wild berry fruits...silky smooth sheen and florals...tight structure...all well knowing there "might" be more magic with age...but who cares, as it's damn tasty now! This Clerico totally fits the bill...bright cherry, pom, red plum fruits...med bodied and full of lacy pretties! Mouth puckering dry tannins...LOVE that...dusty sandalwood, cherry vanilla oak barrel...silky smooth polish...some complexities poking out of tilled citrus field, menthol tobacco, dried roses, tar...nice lift of blood orange acidity...balanced in a simple and easy drinking way. I totally dig this wine! And at this price point...great wine to pop n pour when in that young Barolo mood! Will be buying more to age out a few more years...and drink a few chilled by the pool!

Well...not wanting to risk this bottle in a tasting with friends, and definitely not wanting to screw someone over by selling it...decided to pop the cork on a tues, with the wife away, just me and Leflaive hangin out...and hopefully enjoying the bottle to the end. 06 not a fav White Burgundy vintage for me, lot of flab and ripeness...and a very much maligned one for Leflaive, at the height of their POX woes. But there is always hope...and some people have had great experiences with this wine. Here it goes...not a good start as the cork breaks in half...smells of apple juice...shit...let sit for an hour...first pour...little dark, but not too so...smells of apple juice, yet a lemon brightness and chalky limestone...ok ok...taste...FRIGGIN OXED! Just can't get around it...baked apples in vinegar...and a kick in the nuts while you are down...it's edgy and harsh as well...and sugarfied with sweetness AND an alc burn! What a hot mess here...shame! To my friends, Winebid buyers, wife...who didn't have to try this wine...you're WELCOME!
And to DOMAINE LEFLAIVE...all those thousands of bottles you reconditioned because you KNEW you had a problem...I want a sound replacement bottle...or at least my money back! The least you could do! Hit me up...

Has it been 5yrs already??? Nope...just 5 months...I have no patience! I did heed my warning as I at least decanted it for a couple hours...this is a RICH RAM! Plenty of sun kissed fruit(reminds me of Rivers Marie)...good dose of oak barrel spice(again RM)...yet ample fresh squeeze and chalky crushed rocks to cut it up nicely! Everything is big...super tasty...yet does posses a balanced elegance believe it or not. Showing a trace of spearmint as well...yay! Again, the cork concerns me for future aging as there is a noticeable saturation on one side to the top...as noted in the first bottle as well? Hopefully there won't be any issues as this one would be rockstar in 5-10yrs!

Youthful exuberance...poprocks party right out the gate! Needs air to calm down the crazy tart lemon head citrus and bursting effervescence...it does...there is a noticeable elegant creme to this one...more so than the 08...a lemon ginger pastry creme...wonderful layers and depth to the crystalline yellow pitted fruits...slight tropical, with a green apple tart snap. Just LOVE the white flower, dried apple ring florals and minerality in this...limestone chalk, match strike lees, sea salted shortbread...finishes energized and refreshing...yet there is a pillow soft calming that fills the senses and makes you just melt away! As good as the 08 imo...both must haves for the cellar!

Last bottle...and BOY does this need some air!!! Stank tomato patch and tar upon opening...screeching acid...after a good hour decant...ahhhhhhh...there we go! Little more aged earth browning...not as vibrant as before...but shows similar notes...lovely tarted red berry (more plum) fruits and licorice...dried roses and orange potpourri...firm and perky acidity and tannin...dusty dry hay bale...tar...really goes well with some charcuterie and cheeses. But I think we are on the down slope as this gets a little whacky and disjointed at times...not the finesse it once had, and not a Barolo reminder like before. Nice Conterno drink...but hold no longer.

Jump into this like a barrel sample...youthful crunch, tart pucker, little heat...air brings it all into some harmony...bright and perky wild red berry fruits...raspberry, cherry, red plum...little more heat and edge than the 18 had 5 mos ago...yet still classic RM exotic seduction and intoxicating sandalwood spices. Vein of sour blood orange citrus makes it SO refreshing...creams up nicely with a little oak barrel vanilla cola...pretty dried roses and potpourri florals...that heat bite detracts a little...can't call it seamlessness like the 18...but I think it will silk out with some age. Sure bet this will be amazing in 5-10...but SO damn hard not to drink them in their youth! Try to hold off on at least one bottle till then... as that's when the REAL magic happens! ++pts

Last bottle of a case bought 7 years ago at the winery, and for some reason, my first note on it. Except for the cork, it's holding up extremely well! Shows a pretty goldilocks, green tinge color...inviting nose of honeycomb, sautéed green apples/pineapple, honeysuckle...SUPER soft and waxy mouthfeel...very appealing texture...yet still fresh with a citrus acid tingle...savory crushed minerality...chalk dust...perfect amount of oak barrel spice, and smoky lees. Pretty white and honeysuckle, hay bale florals...cellar temp brings everything out for show...in such harmony and balance, with a lengthy mellow, laid-back cruising finish. I remember trying and buying this at the winery 7 years ago thinking it already has a nice aged sheen to it, and will probably drink well for the next year or so? Every bottle has been like this...and there is no decline in sight imo. Wish I had another case to go 7...hell...15 more years! Great wine!

Ok...I was just thinking about if there is another Chablis producer that resembles my fav Raveneau...that amazingly waxy sensual texture, intense vibrant citrus cut, and classic Chablis sea air salinity...when I first took a sip of this 16 Duplessis MdT it totally reminded me of Raveneau! Only this wine has done that, as the other Duplessis I've had, have been built for the long haul, and structured like a fortress! A nice cellar temp brings out that wonderful waxiness...soft and so inviting...plush and ripe fruit ala vintage...creamed with a smidgen vanilla spiced oak...lemon/lime citrus adds a vein of energy...crushed oyster shell galore give it salt...pretty florals of white flower, lime blossom, and some spearmint...in such balance and effortless...TOTAL Chablis! Amazing recovery from the 15, which either had a faulty cork issue, or I just had bad luck with a few bottles. LOVE this 16!

Age has snuck up in this bottle a bit...more plum and raisin than I remember...yet plenty of pleasure is to be had in this wine! Wonderful silky smooth seamlessness to go with the darker liqueured berry fruits...rich earth tones...dusty powdery tannins fully resolved, yet still pack some spicy cedar dryness...tart cherry skin acidity refreshens...some aged leather, cigar wrapper...you think Bordeaux...then the bright and acidic chocolate covered orange wedge, dried potpourri, and tar bring you back to the boot! Braised meat is the perfect pairing with this wine. Show less raisin and the score would go up a couple more.

Ripeness of the vintage shows, little sweetness, yet plenty chalky citrus cut...the lemon/lime twang...subtle match strike reduction...sappy orchard and tropical fruits...some flint strike smokiness, and wood spice...all of this in a more subdued, easy drinking fashion than you get with the bigger boys of PYCM...not as intense and lengthy...you get what you pay for...and I'll pay for this all day long!

Another super tasty and VERY refreshing Cinsault Rosé from Tercero...crisp and vibrant peaches, strawberry, cantaloup, dried apple ring fruits...kissed with the Ca sunshine...pure as rainwater...plenty of fresh citrus acidity squeeze, crushed rock salinity...the prettiest of fresh flower florals, subtle cherry wood spice...and what I love the most is the impeccable balance as there is zero hint of alc "martini" which I find in a lot of domestic Rosé. Maybe the little bit of French oak barrel age is the key? Fantastic wine! Btw, these is from second day tasting. More expressive than day one.

First thing that strikes me is the color...a red raspberry jelly with some pinkish rim...wonderful nose of dusty white pepper, wild underbrush, crushed cherries and raspberries, dried roses, red licorice...SUCH an appealing nose! In the mouth...ahhhh...there's that graphite dry extract that I LOVE! Dusty, savory, sandalwood spiced oak, crushed rock, cinnamon stick...wonderful spicy and savory tannins, goes well with the briary mountain fruit that's perfectly ripe(13.75 abv), with restraint...lots of exotic, floral and spice complexities...and THIS is where the Merlot shines...the silky smooth texture ala right bank Bords...you can enjoy this wine now for it's youthful exuberance and vibrancy...without having to cellar for 20+yrs like the cabs. Fantastic wine here...would put a TON of Napa cabs to shame imo.

This wine is DA BOMB right now! The massive match strike reduction has integrated beautifully into the creamy crystalline orchard fruits...punchy citrus twang with the lemon/lime acidity...crushed rocks and minerals salt up the butter sauté of fresh tropical fruit...creamy and delicious...nothing sticks out...so balanced with symmetry and yummy-ness! Pretty florals and spice linger on the persistent finish...with the only negative...my last bottle! Just wonderful stuff!

Long time fan of Terre Rouge...my go to foothills Rhone fix! Pumped to see this show up at the local grocer, and on sale for $16! 43% Grenache, 43% Mourvedre, 14% Syrah...LOT of bottle caked on sediment...more Grenache dominant red fruited cherry and raspberry...really spicy and high toned brightness...is the dirt volcanic?...as it reminds me so...LOTS of crushed volcanic rock with crazy saline minerality and earth tones. Balanced well with some creamy and meaty Rhone goodness...smoky and spicy...again LOVE the red Kirsch-like brightness in this ala Chave...engaging briar patch rusticity...SO much complexity and attention grabbing for a wine at this price! In love here!
