Bought this last year in Tenerife on vacation. Opened tonight to find lots of ripe black cherry, cassis and blackberry syrup. A bit syrah like with a strong white pepper palate. Lots of new oak, vanilla and an interesting green bell pepper streak. The finish however just leaves your mouth tasting like an ash tray.... And for a long time! The finish is intense but it tastes like you just finished a cigarette. Unreal, I have never had a wine like this.
This reminds me of that scene in Cider House Rules when that one guy is making the Cider and his ash is falling into the vat and the other guy comes up and reprimands him for potentially ruining all the cider. Anyway, Im sure this is not the case here.... right? Perhaps it has something to do with the vineyard being in close proximity to the famous Canary Islanda tobacco plantations?

Interesting for me non the less. 83 pts.
Not my favorite though. I can only imagine this flavor intensifying as this wine ages and the fruit slowly starts to fall out. So, drink now.

Dry, medium + bodied wine with a a solid woody grip. This comes off very cool climate with simple plum and red cherry notes. Complexity is supplied by a smidge of leather and lots of spice. The Alcohol sticks out a bit on the lengthy finish.

I love marks wines as they offer fantastic value. Typically tart for this vintage this still shows good red fruits with lovely integrated oak, cocoa powder, sweat and vanilla notes. Sharp acidity and tight tannins give a grippy finish that may be a bit unbalanced. Still this is very pleasurable for drinking in the short term.

Rich concentrated nose of dark fruits and woody spice.
Dry palate with a lovely purity of plum, current and blackberry. The wood is a bit heavy, lots of toasty notes, butter and spice. Bold mouth filling tannins need better integration at this stage. Honestly, much of this is still disjointed. The finish is massively long and stoney. So much promise here...

Clean nose of smoky campfire and bacon with little to no fruit showing.
Dry palate and a soft mouth feel leads to lots of forest fruit and minerality with cocoa and a long stemmy finish. The tannins are surprisingly light for the full bodied nature of this wine. I think this is just in a bit of a funk at the moment. Is it a root day today? lol I do see promise in this.

This has a beautiful floral nose. Delicate berries and bike tire/rubber also peek through.
The palate is dry and very dainty. Lots of cranberry, unripe strawberry and unripe raspberry. This is also a touch vegital on the lengthy finish. Light oak is used here but with the delicate nature of this wine it still comes off too intense. It would be interesting to know if they picked Clos de Beze in late August instead of waiting for early September.

The palate is very similar to the nose; black cherry and plum jam dominates whilst a lovely well integrated oak flavor is subtlety noticeable on the lengthy gritty finish. There is also a lot of this multivitamin/minerality note that somes out with some lengthy breathing.

Dry palate with delicate confected black fruits, tar and violet. The tannins are quite light here and it gives this wine a lovely subtlety. With more thought this wines' complexity is outstanding, spice, wood and layers of fruits just dazzle. All while keeping a low profile and perfect balance. Lovely...

This winery makes their Riesling dry, medium or sweet depending on the vintage and this 2011 is off dry and showcases a fantastic balance for such young vines (5 years old). This does lack some complexity though with bruised red apple and lime cordial dominating the palate. Give this winery some time and this small plot of Riesling should really come into its own.

This is a lovely off dry wine that showcases a lot of muscat qualities. It has a delicate fruitiness of sweet grape, peach nectar and papaya.. The acidity keeps it lively here while hiding into the well integrated residual sugar. The finish is another matter though... This has a real soapiness to it while the long length gets more and more bitter and almost reminds me of pine needles. That being said, this wine is incredibly refreshing and you could drink vats of this out on the beach in Tenerife.

Clean rich red fruit nose. Lots of raspberry and red cherry fruit with a bit of old chest/dusty clothes (in a good way).
On the palate this is light with gentile tannins. The fruit body is a bit lacking, it has this touch of garden berries but the acidity overpowers the fruit and takes this wine down a notch. Long length of cocoa, triple sec and strawberry jam.
Good quality but still this needs a bit of food. High acid keeps this from being as balanced as it could be.

Massive sweet nose of violets and kirsch with highlights of worn saddle, sweat and sage.
Dry palate with bold fruit for a wine of this age. Red current and cherry fruit notes start out a touch tart but merry well with Darjeeling and Christmas spice flavors. Leather and spice give a masculine feel to this fantastic silky, fresh wine. The tannins are definitely in retreat but they still offer enough grip to stand up to a decent piece of meat. The red fruits really transform in the mouth and become sweeter on the lengthy finish.
This is really drinking well now. I think its in the zone now and should hold here over the next 5 years or so.

Typical Southern Okanagan nose of sage with lots of black licorice, burnt coal and aromatic cedar. The dark fruits find themselves in a secondary role with a bit of fig leaf and mint.
The palate is dry. Moderate plus tannins and well balanced acidity give this a framework for the medium to long term. Stone fruits, wet granite and heaps of sage give a pleasant feel but the alcohol is all out of whack and ruins the party. The oak is also a bit obtuse at this stage. The finish showcases a solid tannic body with a bit of nutmeg and cocoa. Like the nose, this is quite sage-y.

While not at its best now, this will definitely reward drinking from 2013 - 2022.

Beautiful perfumed nose that changes by the minute and turns to aromas of candied fruits, melon and cantaloupe; mixed with hints of mesquite.
The palate is dry with a solid framework of acidity. Balanced tart fruits transition into more ripe fruits such as white cranberry, peach and apricot. The alcohol sticks out a good deal on the mid palate then gets woven back into the wine by the time the long finish of butter, walnut and clove comes along. This does have an element of disjointed-ness but overall the wine comes off very elegantly.

On the palate, this is dry. Light plastic/diesel notes mingle with unripe apple, pear and tart lemon. There is a bit of a candied lime note that runs through this giving the real green fruit a lift; as does the hint of minerality on the long finish. Its a little to late though as this really comes off one dimensional but pleasant enough.

This is a rich layered Pinot Gris with rotund peach, tangerine, nectarine and apricot flavors upfront. There are also delicate floral notes on the front palate that really bloom into more exotic flowers as the long tropical fruit laden finish creeps along your palate. Massive sweet black fruits dominate here as usual but I find a real green streak to this vintage. It detracts from the opulent fruit structure of the wine. Spanish cedar, cocoa, tobacco are all found in here but not well integrated. Acidity is alive and keeps the fruit from getting overbearing but the tannins struggle to find their way in the huge body of this wine. Confected finish that really lingers.

This wine is a bit of a curiosity more than a serious wine in my opinion. The nose is rich and has a touch of sweetness to it. It showcases lots of bruised peach and apricot aromas with heaps of smoke and soft wood. The palate however really lets me down; hollow and a bit watery, the richness from the nose disappears and basic notes of white fruits with soft woodiness dominate, but pass by quickly. On the finish a redeeming streak of chalky minerality lingers for a long time but its not elegant enough to compensate for the lean body and light flavors found here.

The palate is dry and this bottle shows a fair amount of oxidization. It is obvious this is past its prime and not a bottle problem. The wine holds together for a few minutes with focused garden berry fruit, Darjeeling flavors and toasted cinnamon. The finish is gorgeous with tomato leaf, caramel and chocolate notes matching the vibrancy of the solid acidity.

After a few minutes a light sherried note became much more prominent as the wine fell apart.
