Had to try one young, decanted for 6 hours, very tight wine with thick chewy tannin and but heavy on the oak early. Deep dark fruit powered the mid-palate. Drank 1/2 the bottle and served next day. the following day the tannin reduced into a very silky, round with blue fruits and violet. Ton of violet notes in Pontet Canet in my opinion. another really good wine, comparable to the 2015 but no where close to the 2009 masterpiece

A very good wine. Decanted for an hour and the wine evolved greatly over 3 hours. Plush tannin, nicely toatsed oak, and a balnce of cassis and dark cherry. It was too young early in the drink but got more plum forward near the end. Not over the hill at all, but evolved weirdly. I have another bottle and will hold for at least 5 more years.

I really liked this. 91-93 points. Strawberry, dried cherry, and a bit of bakers spice. This can last another decade easy but I felt this had good structure and in a good.place

Utterly fantastic bottle of wine. Decanted for 6 hours. Not a hard edge on this wine. Tight tannin with blueberry, cassis and bakers spice. So well rounded and fruit and oak are in perfect harmony, and I mean perfect. This wine will age forever and i suggest holding off. But I had 8 bottles and had to give it a go,.and was well rewarded. Monte Bello is top 3 all time favorite wines and this may have been best I have had.

I loved this. Very heavy bead with intense mid palate of crisp apple and brioche. I always think Dom is to sweet. This was not. Very bright, crisp, and very rounded. I thought showing very well at this point. One of my favorite vintages of Dom.

A very good bottle of wine. Yes it is young but these Pontet Canet is very good young. Thick chewy tannin with earth and currant. People rave about 2015, this was good but got the doors smacked off of it compared to the 09 at around the same age after release. A good wine that may be great but nothing like the 09.

Started off a bit sweet, my main issue with Dom and why I prefer others to this wine. But after 20 minutes or so, wow! Bread box, apple, citrus and a mild bead that makes this approachable even young. This will be incredible in a few years and best Dom I have had in a long time

Vastly different experience than the other notes. This was bought end of 2018 direct from Cayuse. This wine has another 15 years easy. Funk, bacon fat, and stewed meat galore. A really good Cayuse. Would have guessed a Cornas if blind. Performed better than I thought. I liked it!

This was exceptional. It needs time as some hard edges but far more approachable than I anticipated. Intense beading, brioche and a great mid palate. I will hold off a few more years for other bottles but worth opening one now

very young wine but showing well. still massive amount of oak with chocolate and bing cherry. needs at least 5 more years to round out some edges but this wine is superbly built with a taste profile that goes on for 30 seconds. tannin is well balanced at this early age

This is excpetional. It is young, no doubt, but not sure a domestic syrah can be much better. I am a huge fan of Northern Rhone wines and this would have me baffled for a Cornas. Best Cayuse wine I have had. Incredible mineral, crushed blueberry, and just a note of leather. Great mouthful and a finish that goes on for 30 plus seconds. I don't write many tasting notes anymore but this was worth the time. I will try to hold off another 3- 5 years for my other bottles but give this a good 8 hour decant, which I did and it will be singing. Finished off the next day and even better. Easily one of the more memorable wines I have had in past 6 months or so

I agree this is a bit shut down. still an incredible wine with no hard edges, cedar, toasted oak, and a mellow cassis profile. The nose of violet and vanilla is still incredible. I have had this a few times and this is a near perfect wine whe I tried 2 years back, but lay down for at least 4-5 years, more like 15 years and I am confident it will be pushing perfection then. Now it is a great wine but lacking the balance it had before.

This was spot on. a bit sweet but so silky smooth with not a rough edge on it. apple, brioche, and honey. heavy mousse that lead to a creamy mid palate. This was really good and I will get my hands on more

totally great wine with coffee, licorice, cedar and tobacco. Just exploded on the mid palate and was silky smooth. Can last many more years but also great to drink now, one of the best wine of 2013

took 3-4 hours to open up and as I like to do is get this a bit cooler than room temperature but not drink cold. great oak influence and citrus notes on this. melon, honeydew, lemon, and a touch of fat with a buttery tone but not over the top at all. good stuff

drank my final bottle. This wine never really did it for me. Massive wine and good structure but was very ripe, a bit hot, and oak dominated. I took this to Brazil to drink with a few friends and they loved it. I was hoping for a bit more finesse and complexity. If would hold another 10 years if I had more as still very one dimensional.

wanted to wait a few more years but this was calling my name. Espresso, cassis and firm tannin on the midpalate. This can go many more years, still needs to unwind a bit and allow the flavor profile to match the tannin and heat. A really good wine that will get better with patience

Took a while to open. Out of 375. Bakers spice, cherries, and gritty tannins round this out. Still holding up well.

still a bit young, this could easily go another 10 years. Great balance of espresso, cassis, and a leathery finish. Polished tannins and an overall great wine

absolutely monumental bottle of wine. worth all the praise!not a hard edge on this wine for being so young. A creamy texture with cassis, coffee, and black fruits. 45-60 seconds of finish. totally silky, elegant and seductive. This wine is amazing and in time will become legendary. worth all the hype

opened for our 7year anniversary (2005 wedding year). Decanted for an hour and this win still needs 5 more years. The wine is very rich and complex.Toasted oak, citrus notes, and great acidity. Blown away by how well this wine has held up. For Auberts they are best to be drank early or put away. i will not touch the other bottle for at least 3- 5 years

upon opening smelled a bit dead and upon first taste was shut down and borderline over the hill. With about an hour of air this thing was humming. Massive floral nose with ripe berries, tobacco, and some cedar. really impressed with the structure and the sweet fruits. Holding amazing well for 19years

15.9 alcohol, can you say HOT! when first opened it was dominated by candied strawberry and an effervescent tone to it. After 3 hours the effervescent blew off and finally the fruit tamed a bit to showcase a balanced layer of sweet red fruits with a hint of earth and bakers spice. All in all a pretty good wine. Needs many more years or some serious decant.

oak dominated for the first hour. Oak blew off and left with a nice minerality, sweet tropical fruits and a lit match like hint to the midpalate. Enjoyable. Drank for the next 3 hours and probably would be better with 6-10 hours of decant

very well balanced wine with apricots, orange and sweet floral tones, Really nice wine, except that Alban Viognier tastes very similar (since it comes from the same place) and is much cheaper. I like this wine, but when I want more I will buy Alban Viognier
Really good wine though

again a great bottle. Needed 2+ hours to open up and then packed with layers of lemon, apples, and a rich creme brulee nuance to the mid palate. would have liked a bit more minerality to offset the sweetness, but a really well made that for the price point($48) tops the region in my opinion

this had it going on tonight. Very well made wine with very complex layers of blackberry, tobacco, earth, cedar and a bit of bakers spice. Mid palate was special and the wine coated the mouth but was not tannic or hot at all. Very dense and rich aftertaste lingering for 40+ seconds. Could use another 5-8 years but really fun to drink this a bit young. This wine is spot on for the price point and greatly crafted, brings back quickly why I love these wines

this wine was a bit flabby. Actually one of the worst PM Chards I have had. It was still good, but not up to par. Overly ripe with some rhine like characteritics to it. Very one dimensional and unbalanced. Had the plush mouthfeel, nice hints of tropical fruits, a bit of butter, then rounded out flabby. Many $30 chards perform better than this.
