Exceptional right now, everything I look for in a Chablis: minerality, a hint of citrus, a hint of honey.

Strong. Muscular. Dense. Tight. And nowhere near ready.
White
Lemon and oyster shells. Crispy and acidic. A treat.
White - Sparkling
Bottle purchased in 2006 - base vintage 2004: nice evolution, toasty, yeasty, slight oxydation notes, still nice fruit going on in the background. A treat.
Red
Popped and poured, seemed ready but actually opened up in the glass in the next couple of hours. Drink or hold, I guess.

I kept hearing people raving about Chidaine but never really understood why. This bottle showed me the light.

Really good stuff, can age but not an issue opening one now. Very delicate and elegant.

Exceptional wine. Up there with the best of St Joseph.

Showed great at first but we made the mistake to decant it, thinking air would help it show more as it was quite tight. Sadly it tightened up even more and was totally closed down by the end. Advice: right now, stick to pop and pour.

Good now but doesn't look like there's much upside.

Drinking very well now, surprising for the vintage, it would be a mistake to snub because there's 2003 written on the label.

Excellent. Focused, mineral, vibrant. Drinking great right now, but no hurry.

Quite sweet, way too much to pair with any kind of regular meal in my opinion. We tried to pair it with a chicken tajine (cinnamon, ginger, saffron, prunes and honey) and while it worked on an aromatic level, the wine was just too sweet for the dish. It also lacks acidity to be really compelling. Overall a disappointment for this price.

Seems at his peak, not sure there's much future for this vintage. Very monolithic with torrefaction notes, high acidity, lacking finesse and oomph.

5/25/2014 - Will Likes this wine:
Lots of minerality (oyster shells), ripe fruit (apricot), great acidity, evolving towards honey with some time in the glass. Really nice now but built for the long term.

N.V. Jacques Selosse Initial Champagne Grand Cru Chardonnay (view label images)
5/25/2014 - Will Likes this wine:
Textbook Selosse with oxydative style, power, richness, length, complexity. Disgorged: 4 July 2007.

Still very primary, dark and brooding, ripe, nice nose but very tight on the palate, very long finish. Lots of potential, but still way too young for the moment.

Classic and delicious. Great balance, texture (oily) and length. Not particularly sweet.

Seems tired. Nice perfume, but just vey acidic on the palate with not much else going on.

Utterly delicious. Exactly what I'm expecting from an aged CdP, great balance, evolved aromas, garrigue...

Nice syrah, green notes (which I liked, but I can imagine aren't to everyone's taste).

3/14/2014 - Will Likes this wine:
Rustic and seductive at the same time. Very Cabernet on the nose, nice tannins, very expressive and at the same time soft and understated, starting to show some evolution. A treat, really my type of Chinon.

3/21/2014 - Will Likes this wine:
Nice ruby color, very bright fruit, intense, quite incredible nose for this level, starting to show some signs of aging (tertiary notes mostly on the nose). Drinking really well now, but can certainly age more. Delicious.

Rather average. Nice nose and tannins, finish is ok, the rest is nothing to write home about. Lacks density and presence in the mouth.

Drinking really well right now. No sign of "green meanies", typical Chambolle character, very seductive, a bit earthy, faded fruit, already seems mature.

Drinking really well. Nose is already a bit aged, like dried flowers. In the mouth very classical in style, high acidity, a bit tart, prominent red fruit and faded flower notes. Good length on the acidity. Much better than I expected. Great QPR.

12/26/2013 - Will Likes this wine:
Faded flowers, nice structure but the aromatic profile feels tired and a little over the hill although still providing decent pleasure. 4y post-degorgement might be a bit too long for this wine.

Traditional Bordeaux as far as I'm concerned, wouldn't fool anybody in a blind tasting. Drinking very nicely right now, integrated tannins (but still present), good balance with acidity, nice classic aroma profile, good length. There's pleasure in drinking this.

Very, very raisiny. Not at all the flavour profile I was expecting. Oxydative style, feels quite dry given the residual sugar. Seems almost tried. Still quite good, but not as good as I had hoped.

1999 Château de Sales Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
12/22/2013 - Will Likes this wine:
I have gone through several bottles of this wine over the years and never enjoyed it. It's thin, sour and dry. There's no life, no flesh, it's like an empty shell with vague flavours and not much pleasure. Avoid or drink up.

2005 Château des Annereaux Lalande de Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
12/24/2013 - Will Likes this wine:
Nice wine if a bit simple, but certainly true to its origins, typical Bordeaux flavour profile, earthy aromas, smooth, not particularly tannic. Really decent for the price.
White - Sparkling

Delicious (out of a magnum). Very fresh, toasty/roasted aroma, brioche, butter. Very ample, in a reductive style, pairing well with various snacks and finger food.

(magnum) Drinking well right now, seems to have more life than the bottle size. Still very fruity.

A bit oxydative and not giving much at first. Quickly opened up to become a real treat, with the signature Selosse style.

11/10/2013 - Will Likes this wine:
Quite broad and bold, but still in check with good balance. A really good wine representative from the Languedoc.

Stunning bottle of Chablis. Evolved yet still crisp and fresh.

This wine is a bit in a transition phase right now: it has lost the exuberance of its youth, but is still primary and monolithic. Great balance, fine tannins, earthy aromatics. Very promising but needs more time.

12/29/2012 - Will Likes this wine:
Excellent. Vertical, focused, very deep, strong minerality, precise but still ample and broad. All that I love in Meursault.
White
Day 1: quite fat and oaky, to the point of it being somewhat "too much", but settling down after a while. Pairing with food helps. Day 2: minerality comes out a lot more, drinking well, should sleep for a few years more.
