Rusty rimmed. Menthol, eucalyptus, rich dark fruits, almost port like. Light to medium body fresh bright acidity. Minimal tannin. A tad alcoholic - warmish finish so perhaps not quite as harmonious overall as it might / will be. Try again in year

Fabulous value. Many years - tannins fine but stick the mouth together. Plenty of crunchy fruit and flowers with a hint if spice. Barbaresco plus. Find more!

Super value. Hints of smoke and menthol even, dark almost brooding fruits. Slight earthy funk. Gentle tannins and plenty of bright acidity all coming together in a most pleasant manner. generous and smooth overall - not unlike a young Nigel havers.

Well made, pure - red berry a little smoke and spice. Perhaps a little sweet at the end and not overly complex but very pleasant.

Complex and great value. Spice, smoke, meatiness and black olives. Quite austere and vegetal bitterness Improves on 2nd day. Wine for the head But found it hard to love.

A wine of two halves - Wonderful, quite unusual on the nose - cherry and blossom, red fruits, sweeties, hint of sandalwood and cloves. Promises a fine experience and yet... and yet, mean in the mouth. Acidity and lack of body whacks it out of kilter, almost astringent. Like sucking on a joss-stick. But what a perfume...

Some complexity - cherry, strawbs even , spice and a hint of truffle but some way to go judging by tannins.

Rustic but Pretty good expression of Sangiovese. Dark fruits, bright cherry, leather and some woodiness - even a little polish. Tannins add structure. Pretty darn good for the sponds.

Wowsers! A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Sadly this only lasted an evening but its depths continue to haunt. From truffle to berry, menthol to orange, clove to chocolate and so on. Robust tannins yet completely make sense here. Wish I had another... Would love to say hello again in a few years.

Pretty bracing, a little austere... Took a punt on this but its tartness and minerality is not backed by the fruit or oiliness you might expect. Celery rather than spring flowers. Like biting into a cooking apple or waking up next to a teutonic matron with rubber gloves - not necessarily a bad thing but a little scary.

Oily, Rich honey and a little suckle. Sweet and dense in mouth - bit of a gob stopper. Not quite the freshness one would hope for but pretty aperitif nonetheless.

Last of the wedding wine. Luckily lasted pretty well but glad we didn't wait any longer. As for the wine - a good, medium body Rioja. Plenty of ripe fruit and toasty vanilla. No surprises but sometimes life is better that way.

Some rough Italian character, like someone lurking around the back of Milan Central with a package of dark , dusty fruit strapped to his back. Ok for £7/8

Lovely burg and rare value - bright, tart fruits but a little spice and even a hint of the farm. One suspects a year or two wouldn't hurt.

Great value. Burgundian in style for somewhat less than you'd pay there for this serious charders. Creamy. Nice.

Lovely. Shows what cracking value to be had from Pinot up in the glorious north east of Italy. Burgundy of this calibre would certainly set you back considerably more. Lovely but gentle fruit, a little spice, not overly sweet and acidity and fine tannins. Bright, pretty and serious. Like a post-grad critical theory student.

Honeysuckle, elderflower, (too?) sweet fruit - all ok but minerality, acidity a bit lacking. Decent splash for the price though.

Pretty, bright, crunchy fruit. Cherries, tinned strawbs - Pinot alright. Plenty of acidity, fine tannins. Slipped down nicely enough with food but would leave it a bit if I had another.

bracing walk through heat soaked maquis. Hot plump berries and plenty of spice. Dry? yes but with a paysant dish rather splendid. Cracking value.
