Very nice champagne, not profound but quite clean and went well with appetizers.

Had with roast pork after 2 hour decant. Lovely Margaux, Merlot predominant based on the prominent chocolatey notes. Tannins are surprisingly non-prominent, so wondering how this will age.

Cellared this for the last 20 years I think! Glad I waited but I think this has a very long life ahead as it is still quite primary, with a dark purple opaque color and blackberry, chocolate, and coffee notes predominating. Tannins are mostly faded. Alchohol is wel integrated. Finish is medium. A really enjoyable vintage port!

Reserving judgment on this wine for now as I didn’t get all the wonderful sensations tjat other recent commenters did. Will see how it is after a night under vacuum.

Awful. Bitter finish, not much in the way of redeeming qualities. Tasted a bit through Coravim and relegated to the cooking wine shelf.

Ok but didn’t wow. Not particularly complex. Had with thanksgiving dinner so I was admittedly distracted. But wouldn’t fall over myself to get more of this.

My second bottle of four. A really enjoyable and interesting wine-Even teetering into profundity. Lots going on including dark fruits, leather, funk, and just enough Brett.

Nice but not memorable. Moving into secondary characters and I think, not a cuvée to cellar for many years. Bought this at a Buty library sale and rue the $50 I spent on it.

Nice if a little one-dimensional. Improved with time in the glass even after a 4-hour decant.

A really nice Amarone, standing up well after 12 years. Nose of cherries and raisins, and a m the palate has structure and acidity to balance the 15.5% alcohol, and some remaining tannins still. Nice long finish. Would pair really well with aged cheeses, like Parmigiano-Reggiano or aged Gouda. Have had some disappointing Amarones at this price point ($40) but would buy this again.

At long last a sub-$30 Burgundy that…actually tastes like Burgundy! Not fancy or profound, but no way you could mistake this for Cali or Oregon PN. This has an elegance and balance that just seems out of reach in New World Pinot. Very light garnet in color, nose of cherries, violets, and rose petals, with a hint of white pepper. On the palate, very balanced with nice acidity, and no discernible tannins. This is one for drinking young I think but très agreable! Really good QPR at $22.

A very nice expression of Gamay, something that not a lot of Cru Beaujolais accomplish in my opinion. Too often, Beaujolais winemakers think that to be taken seriously, their wine must be highly extracted and heavy in feel, which I believe is antithetical to the true identity of the varietal. Instead, this cuvée embraces the delicate prettiness of Gamay, emphasizing raspberry and floral notes on the nose. The palate is similar with a pleasant bit of earthiness thrown in, with just enough acidity to keep things lively. Very small amount of fine tannins are present, so I would expect this is a wine to be drink young. Medium finish. Nice QPR at $20.

Pleasant but not my favorite Sauternes experience. Had with Eleni’s pear-raspberry crumble. Maybe lacking acidity a bit? Maybe too much botryitis character?

A weird wine-It seemed to have some nice fruit components but something was missing (acid?). Zero tannins detectable. A bit better with food than without but not a really enjoyable wine.

Similar to WGMcALUM’s note. Really singing at the moment, more so than even a year ago. Ten years may be the right amount of age for this impressive cuvée.

Nice enough wine but still doesn’t taste like Pinot Noir to me. I’d have maybe pegged it as a Dolcetto or maybe a Morgon? Tannic, good acidity, enough fruit to be pleasant but far from lush, some leather. Short finish. An odd little wine. Probably won’t buy again.

Quite enjoyed this with steak au poivre. Richard’s contribution to dinner with the lads. Well-made cab with quite a lot of new oak as evidenced by a strong vanilla element on the nose.

Not flawed, but really representing Amarone at its worst. The one word that comes to mind is “port-like”. There is nothing to balance the stewed prune flavors. Not enjoyable to drink I’m afraid.

Not giving a numerical rating since I think this is in a slightly dumb phase. That said, it appears to have structure (specifically, ample tannin and acid) to support a long life. The nose and palate are kind of unidimensional and dominated by sour cherry, black licorice, and olive tapenade. Opened up partially after an hour decant, but I feel like this still needs time to develop.

Addendum-Tasted again after two days under vacuum. Unfortunately this doesn’t portend too well as with a half hour of air started having some not entirely pleasant stewed prune and mushroom-type flavors.

Had by the glass at How to Cook a Wolf. Really nice food wine. Light (went well with salmon) but still very subsrantive. Great balance between savory, fruit, and acid. Significant tannins which fit in well with the rest. A great value at $20/bottle which seems to be the typical retail price point.

Served as part of a by-the-glass pairing at Enoteca la Torre in Rome. Very interesting wine as I hadn't had this varietal before. Candied cherries and red vine Twizzler on the nose but palate was more substantial with significant tannins. Went well with braised beef.

Served as part of a by-the-glass pairing at Enoteca la Torre in Rome. Fresh, clean, good aperitif and went well with salty amuse bouche items. It was served ice-cold and improved a bit as it warmed to just north of ice-cold.

Nice but didn’t “wow” as previous bottles did. A bit more on the caramel/toffee side (due to maturity) and maybe losing a bit of its youthful vigor.

Paired with Eleni’s olive oil cake. Wow, this is a majestic wine. Immense depth and a finish to at lasts at least 60 seconds. Tastes like it has spent a ton of time on the lees. Reminds me of Krug.

Coravined a couple of glasses. Could be mistaken for a classified growth Bordeaux at peak of maturity. Nearly opaque dark red-purple. On the nose, blue and black berries jump out of the glass, along with hints of coconut, vanilla, and a tiny amount of eucalyptus. Fresh on the palate with moderate fine tannins. Finish is short.

Not giving this a rating since my experience was so different from others’. Decanted 1 hour and drank over two. Found it to have a rather mute nose and palate. Mouthfeel was silky but otherwise an unremarkable wine. Perhaps entering a mute phase?

This is a delicious wine-Not complex, not a “vin de contemplation”, but quite yummy. Fruit-forward (mostly blackberry) but not one-dimensional-There’s chocolate, oak (not overly so), and a medium finish. A very very nice daily drinker. A bit on the loud side (I think Robert Parker would say “hedonistic”) so food pairing would have to be a bit careful but goes well with strong cheeses.
