I can see why reviews are all over the board on this one. A beastly Sangiovese! Old world for sure with ample saddle leather and compost. More of a steak wine not a drink alone. You gotta be into to this stuff to like it.

I'm sure others would like this far more than me... it needs time to breath and then knits into a dense, lush, rather powerful style of CDP, but without real balance and (to my taste) a bit hot.

From Dec 2015: Terrific, balanced wine loaded with fruit. A bit precocious, but smooth and as delicious as advertised.

Two years later, still outstanding. Score unchanged, maybe less edges from 2 years ago and loaded with dark berries. Some nice meaty notes are coming though. Can't wait to enjoy with braised (in Merlot!) lamb shank.

12/22/17, 2:21 PM - Good point. I meant to say I’ve wanted to taste Gracia since first learning about the wines 10 years ago. Will definitely edit. Please feel free to proof read any of my other posts. I’m sure you’ll catch something!;-)

Kind of a guess at this point, cause sometimes you know the second you open a bottle, oops, that was a mistake. Perhaps an expensive mistake, but you can chalk it up to, no, you can't, it's just a mistake.

Dark red/purple, nose somber tending to closed, only marginal hints of black fruits assaulted by a rather brooding, monolithic granite and granite sensation. Very tight in the mouth, and if anything, gets tighter with an hour or two of air, so what we have here is a failure to communicate. There's tension and balance, but it's younnng.

That's fine, it's just doing it's thing. Do watcha wanna do, I'll see you in another 3-5 years. Rating is an approximation of what I expect to see on the other side.

Ok ok. I committed infanticide in opening this wine! But, even at this early stage, the 2000 Cos shows well. Give it time after opening, and you will be rewarded; howver, if it's your only bottle, I'd wait. It is a bit on the soft side at the moment. A higher score will come in the future, I'm sure.

10/2/15, 7:20 PM - Certainly a baby for top 2000 Bordeaux, my friend. This wine will grow up a lot in the next 2 decades. Cheers.

- Greenish color with small pearls and aromas of lemon and violet. It's balanced and has flavours of grapefruit with a light body. Bright texture with a short finish - Okay in my mind, although his best of all the sparkling wines open for tasting when I visited. My friends where all over it though, especially when drunk with the Trump CRU.

Nose: Coal dust bin; Tanned leather; Black cherries; Cassis
Taste: Bit acidic; soy-esque reduction; flesh of purple and black plums
Overall: Acceptable; perhaps past its peak. 85-87 points
