Lovely wine, with just slightly tough palate impression. Try again in a year.

Very tasty wine, though I feel that the fruit is ever so slightly weak against the firm tannic structure. Still like this very much, but at this point I'm not recommending further cellaring.

Sure, there is noticeable alcohol in this, but apart from that I don't see what the heck everyone's problem is with it. Very tasty juice that oozes character. In spite of the alcohol, we drank it all up without ill effect. Lovely wine, just not for everyone.

This has to be one of the best bargains of our time. Terrific juice, drinking beautifully, with tons of character. Not a long term candidate, but should drink well for some years.

Fabulous drinking. Lively and sweet oak along with cherry, olive, herbal aromas. At a great place with regard to tannins, which have softened but are still very much in evidence. Vibrant acidity, succulent balsamic and sweet fruit. A notable mineral note, svelte structure, powerful yet feminine. Last bottle of this beauty, but it went out with a splash.

Alongside a couple of opulent Napa Cabs, this modest and inexpensive wine was not at all embarrassed. Honest wine, with lovely cool fruit, and decent structure, it easily beats the Napa Cabs in value for the money.

Lavishly oaked, super sweet fruit. Solid backbone of tannin is well hidden. Beautiful cocoa powder infused juice, a lot to love here. Drinks pretty well now but I imagine this will get better with a little age. Via Coravin.

4oz pour via Coravin. Piercing mouthfeel, with somewhat tough tannins and powerful acidity. Sturdy build, and definitely in need of further time in the cellar before it will show its best. But the fruit seems to be there, and the oak is tastefully modest. Looking forward to trying this again in a year or two.

Terrific drinking right now. Showing a little brown around the edges, but in the mouth it's fresh and powerful. Probably not going to get any better; Drink now and over the next few years.

Concrete structure here, with oozing fruit, plenty of alcohol and oak. Chocolate and espresso, very pleasing bittersweet finish. Definitely would cellar this for a while.

Great showing for my last bottle of this bargain. Alluring bright acidity which is a hallmark of Ygay, and plenty of sweet wood which some may find excessive, but I find to be beautifully melded with cherry fruit.

Cranberry juice acidity on this, quite sharp, but plenty of lush fruit behind it. I liked the extraction and pucker of this, very tasty, but clearly not for everyone and possibly tricky to pair. It was pretty good with a spicy grilled salmon steak.

Beautiful wine, not at all like the typical cheap Malbec. While there is good fruit, it's not jammy and sweet, but rather cool, with a twist of tobacco and menthol. Likewise, instead of flabby and limp, this wine has some very decent backbone, with moderate acidity and noticeable tannins. Certainly the best Malbec under $20 that I've tasted. Would buy again.

Wonderfully aromatic. Wild and spicy, quite dry, and a sharp herbal tinge which is most pleasant. Still has a few hard but retreating tannins, and fresh acidity. From a cold cellar, this bottle is mature but vibrant and delicious.

Gave it plenty of time in the decanter, and it paid off. The wine had plenty of structure, but the tannins were just softened enough to meld into the generous body and fruit. Hold another year or two before trying again.

Definitely still tough upon opening, but aerated and decanted and the wine was drinking beautifully in a short time. Aromatically huge, and plenty of wood on the palate. Not exactly charming, but muscular and alluring. From a 375, so ymmv.

Light body and fairly soft acidity. But the bouquet rocks, and there's just enough structure to hold it all together. Probably was at its best a few years ago, but it's still a good drink.

Ha, last tasting note on this is 8 years old, but I found a bottle in the bargain bin and took a chance. Sweet eucalyptus, smoky, spicy palate with plenty of candied fruit. I'd say this is drinking as well as ever. Not really my style, but it certainly aged respectably.

Still fairly sturdy, though much of the youthful roughness has disappeared. From my cold cellar, this wine appears almost at its apogee, and could go for quite a long time. Great delivery, a joy to drink now and over the next 5 years.

Gave it an hour in the decanter, and it was very nicely aromatic. Certainly a lighter weight Barolo, but carries itself with class. A touch of violet and cedar, and good acidity. Not a long term keeper, but great drinking right now.

Absolutely spot on right now, drinking beautifully. Very healthy acidity provides verve to textured tannins and potent dark fruits. Exotic spices and wet stone complete the picture. Stellar juice that provides value well beyond its modest price. Should be great for years to come.

From a cold cellar. Cork was perfect, looked brand new. Two hour decant, and it was still tight and backward. After another hour in the glass it started to reveal its juicy, meaty palate. The tannins were still very powerful, but finally settled down alongside a prime NY steak. The mouthfeel of this wine is tremendous; It is rich and thick, with tons of sweet cherry, a touch of espresso and herbal notes. Definitely the best bottle of this I've had so far. I'd still recommend waiting another 2 or 3 years before trying another.

A fine drink, but if you're looking for a full bodied Napa Cab, best go to Napa. This wine is altogether lighter in body, and driven more by spice and mineral than fruit, as is the norm for California. Dare I say this has some elegance and subtlety, but lacks the sheer power to merit an outstanding rating in my book. Don't get me wrong, I like this wine, and enjoyed it a lot, but it just landed slightly in quaffer territory rather than keeper.

Found in a bargain bin, and wasn't expecting much given the most recent notes. The color was consistent with expectations, with a distinct brown hue. The nose was initially a little funky, but then gave way to earthiness, and soon to plummy. Chocolately tannins, with fading sweet fruit, this wine turned out to be much better than expected. We drank and enjoyed the whole bottle, which was quite impressive given its age and modest pedigree. Short finish, but really nice extract on the palate. Well worth its bargain price!

The most recent tasting note on cellartracker for this was 8 years ago, so this was was purchased solely as a curiosity and at a bargain basement price. Amazingly, the wine is still pretty fresh, with lively fruit and acidity. It did not magically develop much depth, but it holds ups pretty well as something enjoyable to drink. It still shows some structure, and though perhaps past its best, it's far from being dead.

Was expecting the worst, but this wine was surprisingly fresh. Whatever tannins it had are now fully resolved, leaving a nice firm backbone for the weakening fruit. Acidity is a little soft, but it's enough. Nice little spice on the finish. Most enjoyable wine, but obviously, try to drink this a few years ago.
