(Disgorged in the late 1980s)
Deep golden colour with a small stream of fine bubbles. Mature nose showing dried fruit and minerals at first, but at the same time very muted and closed. It took almost four hours in the glass before revealing its loveliness with a nose filled with salty oceans, sea shells, lime peel and with a hint of black truffle as well. Lovely intensity on the palate with a nice mixture of mature red apples and citrus acidity before a lengthy finish with a touch of dried fruit and that saltiness from the nose coming back again. This bottle is something to just sit and contemplate over for hours...

Nice yellow colour with a youthful nose showing tropical fruits combined with citrus and minerals. Palate has a nice youthful and fresh citrus acidity that keeps all into the long lasting finish. Not the intensity of a Grand Cru, but as good as a Premier Cru I would say.

Lovely mature nose showing coffee, red berries and perfume in a seductive and pleasing way, not showing the warm fruit that it had a few years ago. Smooth tannins on the well balanced palate showing morello cherry and fresh herbs. Nice and lengthy finish still showing some of the warmth of the vintage. Mature and almost fully evolved this bottle was both working very well with tonight’s dinner, as well as something to sip on afterward.

Deep red colour with a youthful blue red hue. Maturing nose showing wet soil, dried herbs, red fruit and minerals that is a bit tight right now. Smooth tannins on the palate and still showing red fruit before the more tertiary notes starts to take over as this is transforming into its next phase. This is a good showing Lagrange that is nice already, but should improve even more as it moves into more tertiary notes.

Blue red colour with a maturing nose showing red fruit and some wet soil and wood notes in a pleasant way. Palate is feeling a bit austere and not as smooth as last time drinking this last year, fruit start to dry up and tannins stand out a bit right now. Feels as if in a tunnel right now, should keep and wait a few year to see how it comes out on the other end...

Maturing nose showing sweet red berries, wet soil and some herbs in a pleasant way. Palate is still dominated by austere tannins and need more time to smooth out, hopefully enough fruit to match each other over the coming decade. This should perform better with a few more years of cellaring.

(Disgorged in spring of 2007, 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay)
Nice yellow colour with a stream of very fine bubbles. Nose is a bit muted at start, but with some time in the glass it opens up showing incipient maturity with exotic fruit, cream and a touch of honey. Palate starting to show some dried fruit, and with a very expressive, but short finish showing a mix of dried fruit and a smooth bitterness. A bit short in the beginning, but with time in the glass it opens up with a smoother and rounder feeling that was very nice. It’s been five years since last time I had this cuvée and it’s showing a nice maturity at twenty years and the bitterness has toned down over the years and it feels more balanced.

(Disgorged in 2007)
Light yellow colour with an endless stream of very fine bubbles that lead way for a lovely maturing nose showing yellow apples, hazelnuts and flowers at first and then opens up with liquorice and hints of herbs as well. Fresh palate dominated by delicious yellow apples with a creamy mid before the nice and lengthy yellow plums peel bitterness on the finish that makes you long for more. Having a Pol Roger with extra cellar time is always right, although this has been stored for almost an decade now, it feels as if it need more time to really express itself!
🍾Probably best with 5-15 years of extra cellaring

Very light yellow colour with a stream of very fine bubbles. Minerals and stones at first on the nose before showing citrus flowers and
Palate is youthful with butter pears before the lemon citrus acidity takes over from the mid to the nice long finish. Despite its acidity, this is filled with finesse and elegance and showing much less oak compared with earlier vintages of this cuvée, which to me is a positive feeling.. Still very youthful right now, but with added cellar time this should open up very well.

Pouring the glass revealing that it is starting to show a more yellow colour, but still with an explosion of tiny bubbles that lead way for the classic nose showing bread and butter at first, still very youthful with citrus, peach flowers and some grapefruit zest. Fresh acidic palate showing yellow stone fruit and minerals before the very distinct bittersweet red grapefruit on the nice and long finish. Nice glass development and with an intensity and balanced fruitiness that calls for a long life still ahead for this pleasant and pleasing cuvée!

(Disgorged in fall of 2017, base year 2013, 57% Pinot Noir, 3% Meunière and 40% Chardonnay, approx 25% reserve wine, dosage 9 gr/l)
Light yellow in colour with an endless stream of very fine bubbles, a youthful expression of freshly baked bread, citrus and flint on the nose. Citrus acidity on the palate with a round middle showing plums, before the lengthy finish showing plums peel bitterness. This was good, and with extra glass time it showed a lovely butterscotch note as well. But I reckon that this would be even better with a few more years of extra cellar time to open up with added maturity and notes of chocolate.
🍾Best with 3-9 years of added cellaring

(Bottle from the early 1970s on a blend of Pinot Noir, Meunière and Chardonnay)
Darker colour with a deep red colour and just enough small bubbles too keep this fresh. It took some time in the glass before it really started singing, what a wonderful journey with blackcurrants, dark chocolate, hyacinths and blackcurrant leaves in a wonderful combination. Palate is smooth and fresh and dominated by blackcurrant in a way I haven’t seen in a champagne before. Mid shows a nice mature red apples fruitiness before the long and intense finish really showing off the maturity in a nice and positive way. With time in the glass it opens up with butterscotch both on the nose and on the long lasting silky smooth finish, just to give an extra punch to the already lovely mature bottle. This was surprisingly good and nothing I expected when pulling the cork.. Excellent!

Maturing notes on the nose showing yellow apples, butter and cream at first. With extended time in the glass it shows a lovely butterscotch note as well. Very good palate showing green apples acidity at first and with a bit short and thin finish. But when allowed to warm up a bit it broadens out a bit with hints of ginger and leaving a nice saltiness on the lips. Palate with mature yellow apples and a round mid part before the lengthy acidic finish showing yellow plums and a hint of raisins as well. This is one of the better cuvées and a very good showing from the year 2000, and the transformation has been very well in the glass and it should continue evolving nicely over the coming decade or so as it concentrates on plums and more tertiary notes...

Lovely golden yellow colour still with enough pressure to show a gentle stream of bubbles in the glass that lead to the mature nose opening up with honey, hazelnuts, herbs and citrus notes as it opens up with new layers as it stands in the glass.
