Decanted one hour. This needs the decant as it’s a pretty powerful Chambolle with still some lingering tannins. Black cherry, tea, herbs and mineral come through. Nicely balanced, good acidity. Mature but nowhere near over the hill. Still edgy and in need of softening a little. No rush to drink this.

Decanted 90 min. Lovely entry level Barolo. Red cherry, earth and tar come through on the nose. The palate is medium to full bodied, but shows that wonderful Roagna balance, acidity. This doesn’t have the depth of the single vineyard cuvees but if you like the Roagna style is a reasonably priced entry point.

Popped and poured. After a bunch of recent premoxed white wines, this was welcome. Lovely nose of white flowers, orchard and tropical fruit and a touch of spice. The palate is full bodied, nicely balanced, showing a nice touch of oak and god length. Early maturity. Drink over the next three to five years.

Popped and poured. Medium to full bodied. Cherry, orange peel, minerals and floral notes. The wine is fairly full on the mouth, ripe and but nicely balanced. This is quite good but lacks the elegance of the best cuvées.

Slow ox one hour. Black cherry, spices and a little animal on the nose. The wine is medium to full bodied, ripe fruit but strong acidity. Raspberry fruit, a little earth and spice with some lingering back tannin on the palate. Still quite youthful. This is structured for aging and could continue to develop.

Popped and poured. Subtle nose showing pear, orange peel and a little sea salt. The wine is medium to full bodied, silky and elegant and remarkably fresh still. This lacks the complexity of the best vintages but is still quite good. Aubert is the most consistent long term agers among chardonnays that I have found.

Decanted one hour. Black cherry, black tea, cooked meats, a touch of barnyard on the nose. Medium to full bodied, this is riper more accessible, also more wild, than a 1995 drank alongside it but it’s not as refined and precise, feels like it’s aging faster.

Decanted one hour. Black cherry, black tea, wild herbs, earth come through. Medium to full bodied, structured, old school style, with lots of depth and length on the finish. This has reached a mature plateau where it can hold probably for a decade or more.

Popped and poured. A bit austere and closed on the nose even after rigorous swirling. Similiarly the palate seems reserved, structured with some lingering unresolved tannin. There is ripe black cherry, raspberry, herbs and iron coming through. Terrific concentration and length. This is one for the ages but I would let it develop in the cellar a bit longer. The score is a guess. This could be better.

Stunning perfume on this of wild strawberries, herbs and spice. The wine is medium bodied, layered and complex with good acidity and balance. Showing early maturity but with plenty of life ahead of it. This was a real surprise and continues to show that 2007 has some hidden treasures and when it’s good it can be really good.

Attractive nose of blackberry, raspberry, broiled meats and soy. On the palate this is medium bodied, with well integrated tannins. There is good weight and depth here although it is not showing much complexity yet.

Black cherry, tea, and earth come through on an attractive nose. The wine is medium bodied, ripe but nicely balanced with supple tannin. While this may not be a long ager it is going to drink very well and evolve nicely over the next 10’years

Terrific nose out of the gate. White flower, peach, pear, some tropical notes come through. The wine is full bodied with great depth balanced with acidity. This shows none of the heaviness or over ripeness one might anticipate from a hot year like this. Finishes long and precise.

At first the bouquet is a little shy but it comes to life in the glass with notes of white flowers peach, nectarine. Medium bodied with good acidity and minerality. Lacking a little drive. May not be long lived.

Popped and poured. Slow ox for 2 hours. Classic flashy style Hundred Acre. Big, attractive perfume emanates from the glass. The wine shows oodles of glycerine and length. Black raspberry and cherry fruit, with some gravel and tobacco notes. Layers of flavor.

Not as good as previous bottles. This almost felt off. There was a very earthy undercurrent and the clarity of the fruit wasn’t what I remember. Not sure if this is an off bottle or the maturation process took a wrong turn.

Popped and poured. This was humming. Really nice floral, peach fruit nose. The wine medium bodied with crisp acidity and lots of energy. Peach, apple, steely minerals come through with good focus. Overall an excellent showing.

Slow ox 30 min. Black cherry, cigar box and lead pencil on the nose. The wine is refined and sophisticated, showing ripe but not roasted black cherry fruit. There is a level of glycerine and alcohol here that is a bit high for my taste. Very concentrated and youthful. Let’s see where it goes from here.

Popped and poured. Full bodied, packed with ripe black cherry, rasperry, smoke meats, minerals and spice. Obviously in a youthful, exuberant stage but clearly has lots of life ahead. A little heat on the finish which should dissipate with age.

Slow ox two hours. Nose of black cherry, smoked meats and earth. The wine is medium bodied, fully mature, with flavors of black currant, leather, olives and spice. This has reached its mature peak and is drinking well but probably will start to decline soon.

Popped and poured. Out of the gate this is excellent. Raspberry and floral notes on the nose. The palate is nicely balanced, medium to full bodied, so ripe dark fruit with tea and earthy notes. There is a lot of substance and a long finish to this. Holding up really well for its age.

Popped and poured. The wine evolves significantly with air adding weight and complexity. Black cherry, some red fruited nose, forest floor and herbs comes through. Medium bodied, high acidity but enough ripe fruit that brings it all together. Depth and complexity are developing. Still youthful. Will be interesting to see how this develops over time.
