Thanksgiving 1.0 “pleasure bomb”. I effectively popped and poured and I’d advise a decant. The aromatics were incredible but the wine otherwise seemed closed. I also didn’t notice bacterial taint as noted by others.

11/18/18, 9:17 AM - jviz, I was referring to the palette flavors and textures as being closed, not the bouquet. The nose was incredible, but in my experience, the mouth flavors were dull and muted, and so they felt inconsistent with the nose. My hope would be that more time in bottle or a decant would bring out more, as one note indicated. Whether that's at the expense of the nose, I'm unsure.

I don’t think this is yet a 97pt wine (per Vinous) but it’s got the stuffing for greatness. Young. Young. Young. Even after dbl decant, 6 hours slow ox, 1 hour wide decant. Others have called this period the “dumb phase” for this wine. I generally agree. Still a lot of fun. It’s like an energetic, boisterous Italian Pinot.

Red candy, red fruit, red acid, but pair with the other white meat

2/8/15, 6:54 PM - This particular bottle is about ready. It may get a little better but is drinking well now especially paired with food, due to the decent acid level.

2/8/15, 7:01 PM - I had some of their library wines at a recent pickup party, the oldest being 2008. Besides then, I'd only had brand new Anthill. They definitely benefited from those few additional years!
