8/2/23, 7:20 AM - I felt the same way about 2014 and bought this on a flyer and it was spectacular, so much so that I bought 3 more...
1/21/23, 5:27 AM - Yes indeed. Can’t wait to try some of the others.
1/12/22, 11:10 AM - I also found this to be tremendous, so much so that I ended up with a case and have about half left. Cheers
12/14/21, 1:57 PM - Curious which others you would go for at this price point. Always looking for Napa cabs, but so many are well into the $100s now. Any cool recommendations?
12/14/21, 5:31 PM - This is great! I'm going to check some of these out for sure. Thanks for the response!
12/22/21, 7:09 AM - Hey--Thanks for the follow up note. I found the Lewelling at Sokolin Wines--$67. Scored one to try it. I will look for Beuna Vista in addition to the other ones you mentioned. Robert Foley has a large offering on their website which is cool, but I'll likely stick with the base cab as that single vineyard one is around $200. Sokolin also convinced me to try a $32 Cab from Napa, the 2019 Royal Prince. I have not tasted it yet, but my guy there says it is really good for the $. In terms of Tuscans, yes, that is my sweet spot and happy to offer some options if you want them. I have found most things from 2015 and 2016 are just awesome, some ready to go now, others needing some time, especially Brunello. 2017 was a hot year as I understand it and I have only had a couple from that vintage so far, but 2018 is looking promising again. Great values from '15 and '16 are Chianti. Many punch way above their price point. The 2016 Bibbiano Chianti Classico Riservra is one of the them that is just awesome. Should be mid $20s if you can find it. Happy to help further if you want. Cheers.
11/22/21, 7:58 AM - Thanks!
10/11/21, 12:07 PM - Thanks!
10/6/21, 5:48 PM - Thanks for the note!
8/19/21, 6:36 PM - Thanks for the note. Do you think it's because Poggione is made in traditional style? Usually at least for me, Brunello seems ready around 10 years from vintage date.
9/5/21, 7:16 PM - Thanks! Much appreciated.
8/11/21, 11:25 AM - Agree with your notes. My first of 6 bottles was corked--yikes, but bottle 2 was good, but agree it needs air and better yet more time.
4/25/21, 1:20 PM - How did it compare to the '15?
4/23/21, 6:24 AM - I have 4 of these left from a 6 pack. This punches way above its weight IMO. Can't wait to see how this continues to develop.
3/19/21, 6:04 AM - I concur and I only bought a six pack! This is outstanding and better than many of the lower cost Brunellos IMO.
2/26/21, 11:01 AM - Just picked up some of the 2015. I have 2010, 2012 and 2013 all laying down. Have you had any of these recently?
1/14/21, 7:34 AM - I gave this a 93. I thought it was awesome too!
12/9/20, 10:30 AM - I was about to ask if you were from Wichita, but I see that you are! Classic.
11/26/20, 7:46 AM - I am climbing in on this today. Thanks for your notes. Anxious to try!
10/17/20, 1:46 PM - Ciacci Pianrosso was top. Costanti was number 2. Both of these were outstanding and in 5-10 will be even better.
8/12/20, 7:14 PM - Ha ha. Thanks for the note. I was shocked by this wine and I’ll have to climb into Oregon Pinot Gris.
7/10/20, 5:28 PM - Thanks for sharing. Hopefully your other bottles are good. Bottle 2 of my 3 was undrinkable. 3rd one was the best.
6/29/20, 6:18 PM - Yea, crazy right. For some reason this vintage must’ve had something weird going on.
6/11/20, 11:15 AM - Great notes. I have 3 of these and have not tried yet. I found the tannins quite formidable in the Produttori, but it was so delicious I fought thru it. What did you think of the Produttori?
3/31/20, 10:58 AM - Eric--Do you find this approachable now with a decant? Thanks!
3/31/20, 1:51 PM - Seems like holding this is best approach at this point...
2/8/20, 4:28 AM - It did yep. With 10 years of age, I liked this a lot.
2/27/18, 7:49 AM - Are you able to find this at $31 still? If so, where? Thanks!
5/10/17, 1:41 PM - I had the same experience with this.
1/27/17, 10:25 AM - I bought this in July 2015 and popped one as soon as it arrived and had similar thoughts. I am probably going to wait another year before I crack another.
11/7/16, 7:03 AM - I found this a bit on the lighter side--more so than I expected. Maybe it needs more time? I have 3 more of these and suspect I will wait before diving in again.
8/17/16, 1:33 PM - Agree. I bought 4 of these and tried one a few weeks back. Seems like it needs to sit a year or two
4/28/15, 6:02 PM - Same sentiment here. I think I will wait on my others as well. I just picked up some 2010's--dying to try one just to see.
