Double decanted and let sit in bottle for 8 hours, after so much air the nose turned to the raisin side which off-put some, but the intensity and balance of this wine is crazy good, dark blackberry, blueberry, vanilla, licorice, ink, toast, and a finish that goes on for 1 minute. This is very good and will also another 20 years.

11/19/17, 3:56 AM - I've found on fabulous Veeder wines like this, that when the raisin comes out, the wine's on it's way to opening, but needs even more air to bring out the beauty of the wine. I use a wide decanter & swirling to break through. This one is a youngster!

Red
2004 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 337 Rutherford

Killer nose, ripe currant, straight-forward cabernet fruit, sweet tobacco. On the palate this is classic California cabernet with soft edges, good complexity and relaxed but present structure. We tasted this wine next to an '05 Quilceda Creek and that made me realize why I liked this wine so much in the past, this wine is very well balanced, not overly intense and provides you a long time to revel in the experience without blasting you with alcohol or structure. This is really good, classic-ly styled cabernet. Super delicious. I wish I had more.

2/20/15, 9:47 PM - Diageo's thewineshop.com is selling this now at a very good price. This will probably be the last time it is available from the winery. Just popped open a bottle I received and I agree with your comments. :-)
