Beautiful garnet color with bricking on the edges. Bright fruit nose with mocha, coffee and red currants on the palate. A long, dry finish. Nice structure as the tannins are still spirited but harmonious and balanced. Nice wine.

Another excellent wine in the Christmas Eve line up. Dark purple color with black cassis and tar on the palate. Big wine despite all of the merlot that has a long, full bodied finish. Nice tannins that are smooth but tight. Nice wine.

This is a beauty. Dark, rich color for an older vintage with cedar, cassis and mocha taste. Wonderful complexity and balance. Would not call it silky...still plenty of tannins and structure here. Another great achievement by Phelps.

This is an impressive offering from Shafer. Dark, brooding color actually gives way to a very approachable, juicy wine with superb fruit and medium body. This wine won't break the complexity sound barrier, but it sure is fun.

Bright nose of cassis and cedar. Earthy, dark mocha overtones with big tannins and spice on the taste. High acidity with good balance. Medium finish.

Pop and pour is the right description. This wine came out of the bottle ready to go with racey, juicy black fruit and a lots of spice and leather. Long, firm finish with a lot left in the tank. Enough acidity and structure to last a while. Nice, older Shiraz.

Tasted alongside 2004 Far Niente for a horizontal smackdown between new world and old. Big nose with olive and fig overtones. Dark, earthy fruit with great structure and balance. Very long, dry finish. Wine really opened up by the end. Q liked Far Niente better (fruit lover). I liked the complexity and layers of the La Fleur.

Christmas wine that followed an awesome 1992 Mondavi Rsv. Tresor had a big,spicy nose with a huge amount of jammy, lip smacking fruit up front.
A little tight, medium length with black currants and cedar wood. A big cab lovers wine.
