Decent lenght but nothing like the 2014 version. All in all a decent drinker but expect a lot more from this adress and this price point. Pop'n pour. Last sips had a touch more nerve so perhaps som vigorous decanting can help out?

    8/11/18, 8:55 AM - How strange that they picked early. It was surprisingly flabby. I have been positively surprised by some white 15's in Burgundy but this Lamy was certainly not among those. It is a cuvee I enjoy in other vintages. Perhaps their style is more suited to colder vintages?

Similar in style to the Pierrieres, if but a little more oxidative and woody. This Maillons exhibited the usual crisp, low dosage profile of a boutique Extra Brut Pinot Meunier, kicking out some sherry and quince notes to compliment the rustic and smokey sea salt and earthy notes.

I slightly favor the Pierrieres, as it shows a better integration of its flavors at present. I would give this Maillons another couple of years in bottle to better integrate. 92 points for now.

Vinstokkene har nå blitt over 20 år, men de lager fortsatt denne vinen med 100% druer fra den legendariske vinmarken Chambertin.

Vinen kommer overraskende stram og mørk opp av glasset med en flott konsentrasjon på nesen med lett modne kirsebær, noe søtere modne bringebær, mørkere kaffetoner og noe melkesjokolade. Dette var en merkbar kompleks nese!

På paletten er vinen fyldig og ganske bred uten at den blir altfor maskulin, men den tar nok vel mye plass slik at de elegante uttrykkene kommer litt i bakgrunn. Dype mørke skogsbærtoner, solbær, på kanten bjørnebær og et flott preg av jordbunn. Her er det åpenbart faste tanniner og høy syre, men såpass må det være for å kunne holde styr på den ville frukten. Wine number three at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Beas River Country Club Boutique Mastery Champagne Dinner. Touted by the merchant for the winemaker's prior fame working at Krug, we had big expectations. Sadly, they were not achieved. Nothing wrong, but nothing special. Solid, party bubble blend, but at USD50 per bottle (price at Club), we can find many a competitor far more interesting to sip. Simply speaking, average QPR for a good, far from the excellence the merchant claimed, bubble.

Schäfer-Fröhlich Felseneck GG 2011 (400kr)

Vinhuset styres av Tim Frohlich som arvet dette av sine foreldre. Felseneck kan vel regnes som husets juvel. En bratt vinmark på 8,8 hektar, sør-sørvestvendt i 200-300 meters høyde. Frohlich kjøpte hele vinmarken slik at han er nå eneste eier her. Vinene til Schafer-Frohlich er laget med spontan fermentering. Min første 2011 fra S-F.

Lys sitrongul. Noe lukket nese, men svært tiltalende. For meg et typisk «silo-preg» som jeg finner i denne vinen. Pære, helt antydningsvis mandarin, Svært konsentrert, en vin der kun noen dråper er nok for å fylle munnen med smak.
Tight gulfrukt, frisk, og med en del salt mineralitet som best beskrives som «hockeypulver». Mineraliteten er voldsom. Svært lang. En times luft er ikke nok. Denne trenger mye mer. Litt ubalansert første kveld. Ganske fremtredende bitterhet i avslutningen som ødelegger litt av morroa. Den har en helt vanvittig fylde som jeg ikke har smakt tidligere i en GG, den er perfekt frisk og den varer og varer. Frukten har ikke kommet riktig ut i dag.

Dag 2

Frukten har lagt seg ut. Vinen er mer balansert. Nydelig frukt i utgangen som i går var mer preget av bittertoner. Ekstremt mineralsk, men mindre «salt»i dag.

Dag 3
Fortsatt en relativt beskjeden duft. Preges av pære og lovnader om mineralitet på smak. Perfekt balansert i dag. Voldsom mineralitet, friskhet og en svært konsentrert frukt.

Dag 5
I dag er vinen glimrende med modne gule epler som primærfrukt. Pære. På nesen noe parfymert, ala tuttifrutti. Uendelig lang.

Konklusjon: GG på toppnivå. Litt kantete med bittertoner som fra kjernen i et umodent eple, spesielt de første dagene. Vinen er svært ung, og vil ha godt av noen år for å nå sitt potensiale. Skal du drikke denne før om noen år kan du trygt åpne den dagen i forveien. Åpner neste om 3 år.

Served this beside the 2005 at an island day-time summer party. Gorgeous Champagne - dry, minerally, bright and totally smooth. To my taste a tiny edge over the 2005, but this may just be the consequence of an additional bottle year...

Aromas a panadería, mantequilla, cítricos, minerales y manzanas. Deliciosa pero casi todo se basa en la nariz. La boca no está lista, ácida y corta aunque cremosa y abundante. Con identidad y profundidad pero queda claro que lo mejor está por llegar. Mi siguiente botella para el próximo 2026.
Acompañando una caballa con naranja, un cruasán con mortadela Tavola y un rissoto con bianchetto.

Found a very local source for these, at pretty good pricing, so I thought I'd go ahead and crack another of the older batch I had left…..06 disgorgement from 2000 base…….this bottle seems fresher than the last 2…..golden yellow pitted fruit, crisp apple……fresh squeezed lemon, ginger, little grapefruit tang……but plenty of classic Krug fresh oxidativeness that integrates perfectly! Hazelnut butter, ginger ale, crushed minerals….tiny intense popping bubbles, creamy airy mousse…..tasty on a early Monday eve!

Tett, mørk sort-lilla. Ikke så duftintens som jeg ser andre har beskrevet - hoppet ikke ut av glasset, men føles snarere forsiktig aromatisk med søtlig bær- og lakrispreg. Men smaken, derimot... Første lille slurk, så sparker den fra noe så inn i granskauen, tror ikke jeg har smakt noe så konsentrert og eksplosivt. Full pakke med et tonn med svarte bær, saftige plommer, lakris... Voldsom munnfølelse, men tross sin unge alder smaker den bare helt nydelig. Tanninene pent pakket inn i denne fruktige kraftpakken, syren ligger og lurer under overflaten, og ettersmaken er fløyelsmyk og uendelig lang. I will drink a Taylor the coming Saturday and will decant 50% 24 hours ahead of the actual drinking and keep the rest in the (vacumed) bottle. I expect that the non decanted wine will be a lot more primary and raw in its expression.

Fete de Champagne Grand Tasting (Astor Center, NYC.): Disgorged 12-23-13, a blend of wine from 02, 03, and 04. 1.5% dosage. Classic Selosse nose - pears, lemon peel, cidery - ox, minerals, chalk, spicy, soaring, green apple, pear. Huge and gripping on the palate with apple, pear, spice, chalk, and a touch of vanilla. Great showing for the Inital. Better, IMO, than the 02 Salon I just had before this. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 18/20.

Pronounced smell of apricots and green raisins. Sweet and clear tasting. Very good balance with decent breadth. Underlying acidity. Missing somewhat in length but this is a very fine sweet white wine from Alsace and one of my top three producers there.

    7/13/14, 12:33 AM - All reviews have stated 2010 will need time in the bottle before drinking. Hence they are all currently quite closed. Wait 6 years or more before you enjoy the next one and buy more immediately accessible vintages from Bordeaux while you wait.
