Great showing. Similar to a Southern Rhône with elements of a Northern Rhône. Dusty tannins. Enjoyed with beef stew.
Red
Young Brunello. Opened a little tight and acidic but fruit and spice came forward with air and good Italian food. I had beef medallions in a wine sauce. Perfect. Shared with friends at an Italian restaurant in San Diego.

Dark color, berry and spice on the nose. Then, wow. Big taste for a Syrah at 13.8 ABV. Reminiscent of a Northern Rhone. I get that iron pipe sensation. Day two shows more blackberry and spice. Cabot Syrah never fail to disappoint my palate.

Last of seven bottles. This one was showing its age. Color was showing a bit of brown tinge. Clear. Good floral notes on the nose. A bit subdued. Hint of acidity on the finish. Drink up if you have any left.
White - Off-dry
Very enjoyable Riesling Spatlese with homemade Asian inspired chicken and vegetables in a spicy sauce. The sweet element overpowers the acidity at this point, however it is not out of balance. Pear and spice notes emerge.

Dark and clear in the glass, but there was considerable sediment in the bottle. Still a good nose of Pinot fruit. On the dark side. Terrific balance with resolved tannins and acidity. Not flabby or candied as some big Pinots might exhibit. Long finish. Exceeded expectations for a wine many say drink within 3 years.

Fragrant fruit jumped out with the cork. Gave it an hour or so decant and enjoyed this lovely wine with prime rib eye steaks. Good spice and oh, that fruit.

Big wine. Dark color with black fruit and a well integrated finish.

Dark color on pouring; lots of fruit on the nose. Some funk initially that blew off after 30 or so minutes. Drank well with grilled beef filet, but we stored half of the bottle under the screw cap in the fridge and saved for day two.

Day two shows a more rounded wine with big fruit, balanced finish. Good job, Larry.

Dark color in the glass with dark kirsch cherry fruit on the palate and charred oak notes on the finish. Tannins are in the background. Popular style in the day.

The wine opened with sour rhubarb / cherry notes. Color deepened and there are more fruit and spice elements a couple hours after opening. We enjoyed it with roasted pork tenderloin with a dry rub. I'm saving a couple ounces for later or tomorrow if I can stop pouring.

Amazing how ripe the fruit tastes without the typical alcohol finish in similarly ripe wines that have a higher ABV. This is most likely a result of stem inclusion. The wine has a long finish with fruit, spice and acidity in balance.

2006 Château Duhart-Milon Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Opened a couple hours before consuming. Fair amount of sediment. Dark color, nice blackberry and cassis on the nose. This wine is still young, however it is drinking well at this point. A hint of cedar on the palate with the dark fruit and spice. Fairly long finish with balanced tannins. It paired well with pan seared filet mignon finished in the oven served with a wine reduction sauce that included shallots and crimini mushrooms.

This was the first of three bottles purchased in 2007.

Cork crumbled upon opening so we had our fears. Nice fruit and a hint of petrol with a decent finish. Yes, it could use a touch more acidity but the wine paired so well with shrimp curry that it put a smile on my face. Bottle was drained by the two of us very quickly. Last bottle of two.

Dark color, spice and fruit on the nose, cedar and cinnamon on the palate. This wine belies the 15.1% ABV. Youthful but smooth and balanced. We have three more waiting in the wings.
