Top shoulder...cork badly infected for about 90%, was not expecting much...
however, after about 45 minutes in the decanter....great nose of prunes, figs, provencal herbs. Medium body, sweetness on the palate, 12% alc. Great joy to drink with leg of lamb stewed for a number of hours in the Tagine. What an unexpected pleasure!
If you have bottles in better condition than my description this wine may last a few more years, but why wait?

Happy new year! Great showing for this wine. Gorgeous nose, full of figgs, prunes, spices, leather. Indeed resembling older vintages of chateau Musar (e.g. 1988!) . Medium body, tannins completely softened, mouthwatering acidity making it a wine to drink with food. Even better than our last bottle opened 2 years ago, seems to be able to last 5+ more years. Cork completely saturated, lots of sediment, 1 hour decant.

From memory, beautiful classic cabernet nose, mature, soft and elegant. Top class Saint Julien, still holding up. As the wine gained body after about 2 hours, this vintage of Talbot may continue to shine for several more years (?). Decanting necessary, lots of sediment. Cork completeley saturated.

Double decanted for 2 hours. Delicious nose of provencal herbs, spices and black fruits; has developed fine variety. Medium to full bodied, lots of power but overall well packed. Seems ready for drinking but may gain some complexity still. Good acidity level to match the amount of alcoholWill last for a long time. Excellent Bandol.

fabulous example of Madiran! very deep color, almost black in appearance. complex nose of black and red fruit, double decanted for 2 hours. medium to full bodied, a bit sturdy in character but that is exactly what a Madiran should be. great vintage from mature ripe Tannat-grapes.
It seems this wine is able to last for much longer, although I have to presume it is at peak, but will keep for a number of years.
lots of sediment, cork saturated for 3/4.

Going through my notes on our previous bottle (3 years ago) I decided to give the wine a double decant for 1 1/2 hours. That worked very well. Upon opening the wine tasted thin, watery and high in acid. After one hour this changed completely and it turned into a beautiful example of Chave's Hermitage, full of smoked bacon on the nose, leather, bloody, tertiary aroma's; gaining sweetness over time ( to match the somewhat high acid levels), medium bodied on the palate, at absolute peak for a number of years already. Give it enough air after opening and you will enjoy an outstanding example of Hermitage de Jean Louis Chave. Seems to be able to last for several years more.

Mature brick red color; double decanted for 2 hours. Lost of sediment. Absolutely terrific nose of classic CNdP, mourvedre, grenache and Syrah fighting it out, with the mourvedre gaining the upperhand after about 2 hours. Leather thyme Provencal herbs, game, smooth as silk on the palate, medium weight only, alcohol hardly noticeable. Delicious to enjoy over dinner. All in all a great beaucastel , the nose of which is beginning to develop complexities like the , all time great , 1967 Beaucastel had developed in the past (although this is from memory).
Is there something to comment? hmm, the palate is very smooth but doesn't match the gorgeous nose. Anyhow , a real treat!

Happy new year!
Double decanted for 2 hours (wine could use even more air). Color showing its age by now. Beautiful nose, kept developing over time. Delicious subtle nuances, leather, tertiary aromas, underbrush, wine has softened completely and shed its lofty tannins. Delicious but , based on previous performances, at least this bottle seemed a little tired. I woud rate the nose 95 and the taste on the palate 89 , so overall i stay somewhere in between. Delicious , but could be going downhill. This bottle was preserved for many years under good conditions.

Great and classic Chianti. Dark cherry color, nose of leather and flowers, good acidity to match the food. Beautiful expression of Chianti. Double decanted for 2 hours, but should have decanted earlier as the nose kept developing more nuances. Bottle emptied quickly and appreciated by all.

New years eve dinner; great way to finish a fine meal. Nice mature looking color. Brick red. Double decanted for 6 hours, which enabled the port to blossom. Delicious fragrance of roses and violets on the nose, "smooth as silk" on the palate, not much power but great overall balance, at absolute peak.

powerfull expression of Bandol, but somehow lacking complexity of wines like Tempier; a very nice glass nevertheless. good acidity levels and not too high levels of alcohol provide the necessary balance. at peak but will keep for some years. I recommend decanting for up to 2 hours in advance. lots of sediment. cork in good shape.

Quite a nice surprise to us. Never tasted this wine before. Reminded us of a southern Rhône wine like CNdP. Nice acidity gives the wine a lift, medium aftertaste. Really very good. Didn't decant, just pnp, which worked well, this time at least.

My first experience with this wine, after having purchased several bottles of the ' 04 and ' 05 vintage. Hmm, I have to confess that I was not overwhelmed. There was so much oak, struggling with the primary dark fruit, there wasn't much harmony. I didn't decant the wine but just pnp. Not sure if that is the right way. I hope the '04 turns out better.

Beautiful nose of Syrah and mourvedre expression, some old grenache. Silky on the palate with enough acidity; very good glass of Cotes du Rhône, or I should say CNdP als it has not much to do with generic CdR. Our last but one bottle , out of two dozen. (Cork in this bottle had small sign of seepage). 3 years ago this wine showed even better. I presume it is going downhill slowly or may be this was a less good example. Still a great pleasure, no heat or alcohol showing through.

Still purple along the rim , at age 12! First bottle from a case. Opened about 1 and 1/2 hour in advance. Nice dark fruit on the nose, taste is remarkably fresh, but with classic sturdiness and still some tannin , but not drying. Lovely drink, with a nice bite to it. Even better than expected, with a long life to it I guess. Outstanding example of classic Cahors.

Might benefit from a few more years still. Will last 10 more years. Needs 2 hour decant. Use large glasses! Enjoy this wine in combination with food, eg rack of lamb, because of the wine's higher than usual acidity level. Fine bottle!

I have been a fan of Trevallon's red wines for many years; this is my first tasting of their white wine.
Outstanding bottle! golden coloured, great impression of fruit on the nose, honey, acacia, citrus, flowers, oriental spices; delicious! keeps developing lots of nuances over several hours. medium bodied on the palate, alcohol nicely packed in between the refreshing acidity and impressions of fruit. very long and lasting on the palate. will keep for long, I think. glad I have several more bottles of this vintage. amazing.
remember not to drink this wine too chilled, otherwise it becomes flat. (13-14 degrees celsius seems very fine, so serve this bottle "fresh , NOT cold")
