Tannins have resolved nicely, but no noticeable change from prior bottle. Nice.

7/5/17, 10:10 AM - @wineotim, this was purchase directly from Ridge. They first offered the 2013, but they also have the '14 and '15.

Despite VM's note, this bottle was popped and poured at his request for Lady VM after a night of many bottles. It was pretty fruit forward for a Kutch and could have used a short decant.

12/1/16, 9:53 AM - That was the '09 WesMar Hellenthal. I don't think you had any as there was only a small bit left and Allred finished it. The Varner Chardonnay was also left from the prior night, but I don't think we were able to talk you into trying that one.

I think the ink was still dry on the label. Delivered in the morning, into the ice bucket as soon as I got home. After a few hours, pop and pour. Beautiful golden color. Citrus nose of lemon, lime and some apple. Similar palate with no noticeable oak. A beautiful SCM Chard.

10/31/16, 4:25 PM - No sharing, but I think he would like it. :) Very out of character for me, but I made an exception in this case. Obviously no hurry here, and I'll probably hold my remaining bottles for a few years if I can keep my hands off.

Opened by Allred at Anvil. I thought this bottle was in a beautiful place and really opened nicely during dinner as it warmed a bit. I'm a sucker for Roussanne. 92+

10/22/16, 4:01 PM - There seems to be bottle variation here Bill. The good bottles have been very good, and the off bottles not so good. Hopefully your remaining bottle is good.

Opened by Anwar. This was from a bottle that was opened 2 years ago and kept in the fridge. Lacking in acidity. Nice fruit but did not have the depth I would expect from a SQN dessert wine. 85 points.

1/24/16, 1:02 PM - Is this a typing error, or did you really expect something from a bottle that was "opened 2 years ago and kept in the fridge"?

Opened by Allred at Anvil. 2nd bottle in last 7 months, and it is apparent that the last bottle was flawed in some way. This had a waxy melon quality that morphed into a caramel corn finish. It was like liquid Cracker Jack.
  • thelostverse commented:

11/3/14, 5:35 PM - Bill, both bottles were opened by Allred. Not sure where he got them, but the first one was obviously off.

Opened on VM's screen-porch after making the drive from A town. Similar citrus and brioche notes as previous bottles. Big fan of this bottling.

8/20/14, 10:15 AM - L626406 02385. This was consumed with Allred, and he has the disgorgement info in his note.

Second Sunday Group: 2001 CA cabs (Anvil Club): Decanted. Aromas of stone and apple. Good weight on the palate. Flavors of apple, mineral and stone. Balanced; develops a subtle nutty/blanched almond character.

Guesses were mixed between CA Chard and Meursault.
  • thelostverse commented:

6/18/14, 10:22 AM - The guesses being mixed between CA Chard and Meursault will make Don and Claude happy.

Opened by someone (Rich?) at 4th Saturday Group. Only noticeable trait was some sweetness. Otherwise, this was completely muted. Had no guess. Not sure if this was a flawed bottle or perhaps just shut down.
  • thelostverse commented:

4/27/14, 11:54 AM - I have no idea if it was decanted or not. It was brought to a blind tasting by another contributor.

Opened by xhoser at Praga offline. This was my WOTN by far. Black fruits with mocha and cassis, with tannins still in your face. This really sang with the food, as the fat of the pork chop cut the tannins beautifully. Love to try this again in 10 years.
  • thelostverse commented:

3/24/14, 10:01 AM - Sunny, this was not my wine, but was brought to an offline by a friend. It was opened upon his arrival, and certainly changed throughout the night. This was a very controversial wine as a few of us liked this best, while others not so much. If you check the notes, there seems to have been a lot of bottle variation for this wine, with some palates that I respect very much scoring this wine extremely low. I would certainly open and decant a few hours early if you can. Even better, if it were my bottle, I would hold it another five years. Hope it shows well for you and that you enjoy it.

Dinner at Anvil. 2012 disgorge. Similar to previous bottle with beautiful yeasty brioche.

2/14/14, 1:49 PM - Are you asking me if I'm having one tonight, or are you telling me you're having one tonight? I'm having one with dinner tonight if you're asking. If you're having one too - great minds...

Gourmet IV opened by Allred. I'm not generally a Kistler PN fan, but this was a beauty. Cherry and red fruits with nicely integrated tannins and velvety mouthfeel.
  • thelostverse commented:

11/5/13, 7:21 AM - I guess he should know. I will change my note.

Tasted at Anvil from a bottle Allred opened 7 days earlier. Still showing tremendous depth of flavor with smoky mocha, black fruits and liqueur. Just lovely.

Opened by Bill at Bill's house. This was nice, but probably would score a touch higher for me without the barnyard. Notes of black fruits, spice and pepper. This seems to be holding well.
  • thelostverse commented:

    2/4/13, 6:45 PM - Corrected. Sorry Bill.
