Not surprisingly past prime. Fruit and acid are both lacking. Not terrible upon first opening, but after a glass I was done with it.

Very good, definite California Chardonnay in style, but well balanced and enjoyable. Drink now.

Delicious! This was a 'spare' bottle that was opened at the end of the night when all the others in the lineup were dry. Ideally, this could have used some time more to open up but it was post midnight so it was a pop and pour. Big but elegant, specifics escape me beyond that after the late night.

Paired well with a dark chocolate mousse. Needed some air time to open up.

This was a forgotten bottle in my cellar. I'd removed it as lost/presumed drunk at least twice in the past before stumbling across it sometime later each time. It's held up very well, though it fades pretty quickly after opening. Some acidity left along with peachy fruit flavors, floral and honeysuckle notes. Drink it if you have it, but it was a good example of the unexpected longevity that can be found in wines by good producers.

Open from magnum alongside a magnum of the 2015. Decanted about half of both bottles about 1pm, then compared the two vintages both decanted and straight from the recorked bottles starting about 8pm. Both vintages showed quite a bit better from the bottle having just been reopened than they did from the decanter. I would say maybe 30-60 minute decant is good for both, or if they'll be out longer just let them breath in the bottle.

The 2014 from the bottle was the winner of the four glasses for both tasters. This vintage had 20% Grenache blended in which really seemed to bolster the Syrah from a weaker vintage. This displayed lush ripe strawberry and blackberry characteristics with just a hint of tart cranberry on the finish that wasn't unpleasant.

The 2015 had some funk on the nose at first that did blow off, but was a little out of balance in general, with a little more tart fruit acidity than should have been prominent. Reading the WS vintage report, it looks like Syrah had a hard time ripening for many in this area, and that seems a likely reason for the acidity. Some barnyard funk remained throughout.

Both vintages are ones to drink soon, even from magnum.

Very enjoyable lighter style Chardonnay. Good acidity with some straw notes, the finish had a good length with notes of lemon. This is the kind of wine you want when it's hot out, or you're having a meal outside and can serve it chilled. For around $15 retail, it's a great QPR.

Wanting a glass or two of wine while prepping some food for the week, I pulled this one to clear it out of the cellar as much as anything. I'd received it as part of a lot of wines a while back and had written it off as over the hill. Upon opening, it was over the hill, but for all that had held up surprisingly well. The structure is still there, with butteriness that doesn't totally dominate some remaining fruit. I'm glad I didn't serve it to guests, but I'm glad I got to enjoy a couple of glasses.

This is what I'd call picnic wine. Light in color and weight, on the fruitier side with a little blackberry tartness. A bit better on the cooler side and with a screw cap, this is a good one to put in the ice chest for a summer cookout. Very enjoyable for the style!

Good, solid wine with dark fruit notes and a subtle hint of dark chocolate on the front and mid palate. Medium finish where the chocolate comes through more with just a little tropical fruit.

Very good bottle. Not decanted, but opened and enjoyed over 3+ hours. It could have used more air exposure though, as it was still evolving when it was finished. Very, very little sediment which was surprising.

A little funk with some lemon notes at first, but those both fade over the first half hour and the wine took on a sherry like nutty quality. Fruit re-emerges after a while alongside the nuttiness. Overall it’s well past prime but very interesting and enjoyable.

Very sadly my last bottle of this. I haven’t had this wine in several years and this may be my favorite of the half case I bought. Much better than I anticipated given its age. Good notes of tart cherry, ripe strawberry, a little dirt, with a nice lingering finish. Good pairing for roasted chicken. I wish I’d opened it when I could share it with others as it’s always fun to bring a ringer to the table.

About ten years over the hill. I often like older wines, even if they're too old, but this one wasn't built to age at all. I bought it from a clearance bin knowing a good friend is a big K Vinters fan, only to get a good laugh when he told me it was the same bottling he'd told me about that he called 'pickle wine'. This one wasn't pickley, but it wasn't good either.

This needed a couple of hours to really open up (in open bottle, not a decanter) but it just got more and more enjoyable as it did. Longer finish and the secondary characteristics were fleshed out with some lush fruit. It was what good, mature Cali Cab can be.

This was an older (2004-2011 range based on label and lack of ID) half bottle. While little effervescence remained, common in older half sparklers as I understand it, all the flavors were there and I can now say that Krug makes a damn good still wine!

Surprisingly fresh and enjoyable for a ten year old Moscato! Looking for a pairing for orange tart with cranberries, this was the best thing we had that looked to compliment both flavors, but a 23 year old Auslese was brought as a backup. The Moscato was by far the better pairing, still having the freshness and effervescence seen in much younger examples.

Lacking in almost all acidity, but some decent soft apple and pear notes. I'd pair it more with dessert, though it wasn't sweet. It was a total fail with the Thai Carrot Ginger Bisque that I'd pulled it for, not having the acidity to cut the creaminess of the bisque.

Decanted for about 90 minutes before rebottling for our blind tasting, but it could have used another couple of hours decanting (or another five years in bottle). Very tannic and big enough to easily be mistaken for a younger Napa Cab when tasted blind. Great wine with years left on it.

Drinking very well right now, with time to spare. I decanted about two hours before a friends birthday party (Pacific Northwest theme for wines) then reopened upon arrival. Lush fruits that didn't fade for the two hours before it was empty (it was towards the end of the lineup). Wish I had more of these on hand to enjoy!

Lacking in acidity, but other than that a very enjoyable wine. The cork was saturated and leaky, and when attempting the ah-so it slipped right down into the bottle, so it wasn't aged as well as it could have been. Still, a fun bottle.

This is still very enjoyable with some nice green apple notes, but it's lost some of it's acidity and so comes across a little out of balance. Still, I wouldn't turn it down. Drink now.

The '67 CK was clearly an older Napa Cab, but after about 20 minutes it was very good. Not quite up to the '67 BV, but close. It was enjoyable for a good hour once it hit the sweet spot, with some solid dried fruits, and the expected cedar, spice and tobacco notes you'd expect. I was very pleased with how it had held up and happy to have two more bottles waiting to be enjoyed!

I'd purchased this bottle along with 2 bottles of 2001 WS Sonoma Coast PN, both of which were typical of a 15yo bottle of that type... nice, but tasting of an older wine that needs to be consumed rather quickly after opening. I fully expected that from this bottle, but was shocked at how good it was! Full, rich fruit flavors from the moment it was opened. I can't say how long it held up after opening, as with six of us it didn't last long. The only sign of age was that it needed no air to open up, where I prefer the younger WS PNs after they've had some breathing time. If I can find any more, I'd happily grab more of these.

This bottle had held up very well. Opened side by side with a bottle of 1977. This bottle was expressing some secondary notes: cedar, tobacco, some graphite, but it was still showing some decent fruit as well. It wasn't one to keep on the table long as after about 30 minutes it began to fade, but that wasn't a problem with seven participants.

Decanted for just over two hours, but it could have used more as some swirling brought out some more aromas and flavors. I'll sit on my second bottle for another few years I think.

Excellent bottle for midnight at New Years! This did benefit from about 20-30 minutes of air to open up. Glad I have one more, but I don't think it'll be one that will benefit from any more age.

This bottle was very enjoyable, with very nice fruit on the nose and palate still holding up well. These are varying a lot bottle to bottle though, as it was a vast improvement over an identical bottle purchased at the same time and opened just before, which was no fruit and all past prime secondary notes. Open it now and hope for the best!

This could have used a few more years of bottle time, but in lieu of that it could have used a few more hours of decanter time. It was decanted and first tasted about half an hour later, but when it was finished about four hours later it was just really starting to open up. The aromas started showing fruit after an hour or so, opening up in a way that hinted what flavors would follow a few hours later. On the palate, at the 3-4 hour point, the dusty earthy notes were starting to show more dry berry notes, with just a hint of lushness. Still, a very tasty and enjoyable wine.

375ml. This wine is in a very good spot. It's aged well and lost the cloying level of sweetness typical of younger Sauternes. Still sweet though, the apricot and honeysuckle notes come through on the palate. I wish I had a few more of these!

Opened two bottles. The first was clearly oxidized from the outset, though not totally gone, with the second presenting much fresher characteristics upon opening. The first blew off some funk after a bit, but both fell apart after a couple of hours. We decanted both so the color could more easily be examined (the two were very, very close in color with the first just a bare shade darker) though this certainly contributed to the short life after opening. Still enjoyable to try, but this isn't one to hold. I would have loved to try this wine five years ago.

Excellent bottle, and well worth the wait. Smooth, full, soft fruit flavors. Very silky. Decanted for about 90 minutes. It was agreed by all this wouldn't have gotten any better.
