Magnum, still good. Some what dry, lots of fruit, about what you'd expect. Decanting may have helped slightly.

68 was corked. It had a cheesy taste. 78 was less foul to me but others dissented. 88 was really oxidized and was like drinking flat coke. the 58 was everyone's "WOTN".

Drank 58, 68, 78 and 88 all together (8/23/14). The 58 was the only one that was clearly not flawed. It was good, extremely mellow for chianti. We followed on with some 2011 (of a different maker) for comparison.

Loads of vanilla. This seemed on the sweeter end of the pinot spectrum (after at Clos de Tart). But we opened near the transition to dessert. so that was fine.

Herby with plenty of alcohol and acidity. Good with food. Not exceedingly complex. Prefered this to the poggio salvi with the pizzas from the outdoor oven tonight.

On the sweet side, barely, but a really balanced bouquet. Delicious!

Not sure what the fuss is about. Nice, still young, and aging well. But it is not complex to merit the ratings here.

Probably past prime. Still tasty after an hour decant. Light body, red fruit, some earth, not complex.

Decanted 90 mins. Red fruit! Still very acidic. Got some time left.

Dry, menthol, tobacco, currant, spicy cayenne on the finish. After an hour of decanting, dark chocolate exploded in mouthfeel. This wine could go great with desserts, esp chocolate. A delicious wine with a great dark character though perhaps lacking sufficient complexity to get even more points.

A big wine with complexity to match. More complexity than I can describe two days later. Moved towards red fruit as it breathed. It was still good the next day, though much drier.
It's still good to drink.

it must be past its prime. it's still tasty and easy drinking, but would come at a much lower cost for the complexity i'm experiencing.

flavors definitely developed over 2 hours. now getting red currant, cassis, licorice, anise hints due to strong alcohol. no oak left. jammy. nice in the mouth however.

decanted 3 hours before drinking (largely based on previous tasting notes, thanks). that was a good call, the acidity calmed and the flavors developed.

this bottle has great flavors (red/black fruit with mineral spirits) and warmth (dried wood) and definitely the elegance of a good burgundy. my only complaint is that the mouth feel was totally lacking, it was really watery which made it difficult to savor the great flavors.

hard to say if it's really past peak. I'm sure it will be tasty and drinkable for at least a few more years, but I would suggest drinking within a year (mid 2015).
