2006 Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT Sangiovese

Unfortunately, I found this wine did not live up to expectations. Still dark and youthful-looking, but perhaps it's now in its "dormant" phase. Pretty aromas of crushed dark berries, flowers and spice. Full-bodied, but not as rich or powerful as I had expected - though not as tannic either. Offers a subtle, layered palate of sour cherry and blackberry fruit, along with notes of spice and a moderate acidity. Nicely balanced, with a long, dry finish that features velvety tannins - but also a noticeable amount of oak. A very elegant and polished Sangiovese, but not quite the great wine we were expecting. I have three of these left and am hoping that this one was perhaps just slightly "off".

one of the greatest dry rieslings ever made from a huge natural vintage this wine will cellar for another 40 years and is not ready to drink for another 5 -8 years if drinking now give a 24 hour decant , outstanding and multi layered
i expect this and the schaefer frohlich felseneck grosses g dry cru 2009 to be 99-100 point wines in 5-10 years time these are grand cru wines from the grape that lives for ever if you own this rare wine you are very lucky-VERY GREAT !! will go to 2050 underground

2008 Château Sénéjac Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

Beautiful scent and character, it reminds you just how special and classy inexpensive Bordeaux can be. The fruit is perhaps beginning to fade a little, the integration and balance unravel. But 2008 Senejac still offers great pleasure as well as outstanding QPR.

My e-mail wouldn't let me send a response for some reason so i did it this way

No I don't think it was a dodgy bottle. I am always a fan of isole e olena but found the 2011 chianti lacking structure and mouthfeel & too much fruit. 2010 was great but this fell short for me.
Sometimes it can take a little while to settle so maybe will improve with a some time.
For what its worth for the same price I would recommend the Fontodi 2010 cc its really good.
Both wines can be bought from the wine society if you are a member.
    Good luck

not a lot to get excited about . fairly simple bourgogne . have given these a chance to evolve in the past and has normally paid off but not sure this is going to get any better. poor vintage for this wine

12/9/13, 4:13 AM - In all honesty i don't think so. i have 10 bottles left . will look to drink most of them over the next year or so. in the past this wine has evolved nicely with age but i don't think thats going to be the case with 2009. hopefully I'm wrong !
