Tasted at Château Léoville Poyferré itself. Drank side by side with vertical vintage 2010, 2011 and 2012.

2012 have 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot
2011 have 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc.
2010 have 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc.

All are youthful and exhibit similar nose of cassis, black fruits, toast, spices. High tannin. 2010 tasted the best.

Last bottle; these have been pretty good over the years. Still a ruby to garnet in color and drinking well. Smells like black cherry, plum, smoke, black tea, iodine, orange peel, and a touch of floral. Medium (+) body, acid, and finish, with flavors of black cherry, plum, red apple skin, black tea, orange peel, lemon, and notable spiciness that lingers. Really solid with a miso glazed salmon tonight, and probably a few years left in the tank if you have any more. Nice job, Brandon. 👍
