An exceptionally nice inexpensive Bordeaux and that is a rarity. Good fruit, very fine tannins and a decent structure. For $17 a winner for an every day wine.

Worthless. Herbaceous, tart and stemmy. What little fruit there is falls off at the end and all you are left with is alcohol. There is nothing worse than lousy Bordeaux.

Contrary to my note from three years ago, this wine was really tight. 2-hour decant and then after two more hours was just showing its stuff. Great potential but needs another 3-5 years for the tannins to dissipate and the fruit to come forward.

The tannins have been well integrated since drinking this four years ago. It still needs a bit more time to bring out the tertiary elements but there is no harm drinking it now. 2 hour decant and paired with roasted duck with lingonberry sauce. Lovely.

A little too ripe for me and fairly one dimensional. Just OK.

A lovely little wine that is just what it should be. Nice bright fruit, a touch of sweetness and a bit of acidity. Perfect with duck confit cassoulet for Thanksgiving.

Good structure and nice red fruits. A competent effort, but nothing out of the ordinary. Ready to drink without decanting.

First day great aromatics and sweet black fruits. Second day a little more complexity. Really needs another 3-5 years to blossom. Great stuff.

Tasted twice over the past month. Fruit has diminished and there is a lack of acidity. Tannins present but fine. A lackluster effort from this Chateau even considering the vintage.

Second bottle of 27. Maybe it will get “better” with age but it is sure terrific now. Racy acidity and superb length.

Having read Papies’ previous note, I decided to open my last 750 from 750s and magnums bought on release. Decanted around two hours ahead of dinner, a small taste convinced me to put this right back in the bottle. It was definitely ready to go. The 90 is at its peak with nothing more to be gained. In fact, holding it longer might be a risk as the previius review noted. That being said, this was just an all out great bottle of CdeP. A thrill to drnk but sad there are no more in the cellar.

One of the finest white Rhones in my experience. Huge depth of flavors, great tension and notes of honeysuckle, apricots and more. Mounir is a brillant winemaker...Burgs, Rhones or Beaujolais...are terrific in just about any vintage.

Decanted four hours and still tight. Very fine now, but in 3-5 years should be terrific. Very much in the style of Mounir’s Burgundies.

Three hour decant. Excellent right from the get-go in the classic Togni style. Rich, dark fruit, very light dusting of tannins with excellent depth. After two more hours, the wine tightened up a bit but showed more of the tertiary characteristics of an older wine that broadened its appeal. Long life ahead.

A two-hour decant wasn't enough. The wine felt a bit heavy, slightly alcoholic and metallic. After four hours, these "negatives" fell away and the wine began to drink beautifully paired with a New York strip. Tempier really is the "First Growth" of Bandol/Provence. The 97 has a long way to go as does the 98. Bravo to Daniel Ravier and Company.

Everything is there for greatness, but the wine is still mostly fruit. Needs more time time to bring out those tertiary elements. Pristine bottle bought on release.

Took about four hours for this wine to really show its beauty. Paired against a 1998 Beaucastel which, of course, was much more open. Surprisingly, these showed very similar after that time, with deep rich fruit and hints of tobacco, red meat and a bit of forest floor. Mounir is a genius winemaker and is pushing the quality envelope here just as he does in Burgundy.

This was hitting on all cylinders right out of the gate. A huge Burgundian nose seemed to leap out of the glass when first opened. Drinking well now but has many more years of life ahead.

This wine was truly awful. It started out being highly acidic with weird notes of old lemon. After an hour, the predominant taste was burnt sulphur. I used to buy cases of Kistler Chardonnay back in the mid-90s, and recently decided to try them again. The reason I liked them was because they were the only California Chardonnays at the time that could remotely compete with white Burgundy. Today, there was no comparison. Either my palate changed or Kistler's winemaker did over the years. I still have one left, so will try again in a while and hope this was just an off bottle.

Not showing much of anything after a one-hour decant. Fruit is dissipating leaving acid and wood. The 07 village tried a month later was much worse.

Superlative. Like a great Burgundy, “power without weight,” especially for Grenache. Everything in balance with notes of plum and other black fruits. Long finish with no evidence of high alcohol. I believe this has 10-15 years remaining. What a wine!

Deep red fruits. Terrific structure with crisp acidity that gave the wine great tension. Took on more weight after being opened several hours. Drinkable now but with 10+ years to go. Lovely effort in a slightly more modern style.
