Very nice but not as typical as I'd like. California fruit comes to the fore!

Flowers, spices, herbs, and perfume. Fruity and dry on the palate. Delicious! Group of eight people shared!

Softer with age, but one of the best Syrahs from Hug. Everyone loved it.

Easily the WOTN. Luscious, layered, delicious. One person declared best Pinot he'd ever tasted. Gorgeous wine, coming into its own.

I KNEW it was a Cab when I stuck my nose in the glass. I KNEW it was a Cab when I sipped it. It was as close to what a Cabernet Sauvignon should be as any I've had. Ever. Delicious. Bought three extra bottles to hoard. My budget is decidedly unhappy, but I could stand to lose a few pounds. Food is an option.

Killer white wine! Surprising fruit, structure, viscosity, nose. Much better than it was in the winery. Will save my second bottle for a special occasion!

Just a few months later, evolved into something magical. Ready to drink, great fruit, body, mouthfeel, dense, almost Petit Sirah-like in color.

I need to figure out a way to just let the final bottle rest, but this is soooo very good! Cherries!! Beautiful mouthfeel, very satisfying Pinot. I will try very hard not to open up the last bottle. Or just bite the bullet and buy more!

I thought it was an okay Pinot when I first received it, and I had one bottle just sleeping. I decided to drink it and was stunned by the evolution from a good wine to one that's nearly great. It tastes three times what I paid for it. A purist's Pinot. Drinking beautifully now.

Strawberry shortcake, raspberries on nose. Beautifully dry finish, fruity dryness on palate. Very pleasant, tasty wine. Must get more!

Coming into its own. More of a food Zin (seasoned meats) rather than jammy, drink-to-get-drunk Zin. Really like it.

I gave it such a high score of 50 because it has (allegedly) Zinfandel in it. But as I wrote on my blog, it tasted like cherry soda that had passed by a wine barrel while picking up nuances of Skittles. And the finish? What finish? You mean that nasty sweet musty aftertaste thing that it left in my mouth? That finish? In a word, awful.

I hate to add a score to a wine that was obviously once wonderful. Wasn't on my Cellartracker list, so when I found it, I opened it immediately. Pop and pour, air in the glass, then trying to decant - all couldn't bring the fruit back. Earth elements fully intact, nose was wonderful and it was beautiful to look at. It wasn't a bad drink, but its core is gone. {{{sigh}}}

I want to say that I waited too long to open and drink it. We both thought that it was muted in both aroma and flavor, and that it had passed its prime. Next time I'm in Paso, I hope to taste it in the winery since I remember it being much better than this. And no, the bottle was not flawed.

Still an infant. The cherry rocketed out of the bottle as soon as it was opened. There was no question about "which fruit" this was. Wow. Creamy character, beautiful color. This time, I'm *really* going to hold on to my remaining bottles. Can't wait to see how this matures.

Absolutely gorgeous in color - beautiful red which was totally unexpected ten years after vintage. Nose - plums, chocolate, allspice, touch of cherry. Great legs. Flavor reflected the nose. Outstanding - can't believe I only paid twenty bucks for it. It's that good. One more thing - the fruit was still there and I expected it to be muted. It wasn't. As always, YMMV.

Eight years after vintage, it's rich, and a textbook version of a California
CS. Drink or hold. This can go the distance.

Several things struck me when I tasted this wine - big black cherry, big raspberry, some smoke, and (especially for a Pinot), creamy mouthfeel. Almost unctuous. If it's this decadent now, I can't imagine how it'll be as it ages. So I got two more bottles to be safe. It is still very much a baby. :-)

Why oh why did I open this bottle?!? It's been a couple of weeks, but man! This is the textbook example of what Merlot should be. Plum, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, smoothness, lusciousness (I know, I know, but what else could I call it?!?). The 2003 was so-so, and I thought I'd sip on this while relaxing. Wish I'd waited! Delicious wine - if you have one, don't open it yet. If you do, you won't be disappointed. I'm saving the bottle.

Definitely old world, which I love! The flavors were all there, but because of the age, they were muted. If you have a bottle, I recommend drinking it now!

Tasted at Khoury's in Henderson, NV. The Gewurtz and two Pinots were there along with the Chard. I had planned on purchasing a Pinot, but the Chard is outstanding. It's just the type of Chard that I like, butter on a Louisville Slugger, but with a beautiful crispness and balanced acidity. For me, the ABC drinker, it's ideal.

Big, rich, luscious wine that still has firm tannins and an amazing finish. Dark fruit, cocoa, espresso, spice, tobacco, and an amazing, food friendly acidity. Still has a lot of fruit and could have rested for another two years. My last bottle, better than the others which I finished about three years ago. Dammit.

Made the mistake of drinking this after enjoying a 2002 Robert Young Estate Scion, which was otherworldly. A couple of hours later, this is okay, but nothing to write home about. That being said, I would probably buy it again because away from the Scion, it's a good wine.

Had this last night with friends during a blind tasting (this was not blind). Seven years out of vintage, it is still big, rich, juicy, and massive. Acts and tastes like a much younger Zin - we could have probably waited a couple years and been just as pleased. Drink now or whenever.

Luscious! Even 11 years after vintage, this wine is wonderful. Well-aged, with all the typical traits you'd find in a Napa Cab: berry, coffee, cassis, a bit of earth, wood, and smoke from age. Lots of sediment, so it needs careful decanting. Ready to drink, or can hold for another year or two. The color screams young, age ring negligible.

Without going into detail, I have to say that this bottle is better than the last bottle, and it's consistently good. Lots of berries, juicy, with wonderful mouthfeel and terrific with my "famous" smoked brisket. The Syrah is the star in this blend and makes this wine a great summer/bbq red. Love it!

Amazing - inky black and youthful looking. Berries, currants and chocolate on the nose and palate. More fruit than I expected. Tamer than a previous bottle opened a couple of years ago, but can still lay down for a while. Better in the glass after swirling and waiting. In a word, yummy.

Soft, as would be expected from a Zin of this age. The quality of the wine shows - it is now a good food wine as well as wonderful for drinking. All the characteristics you'd expect from an old-vin Zin. Just all grown up.

Classic "needs to be decanted" red wine. Luscious and juicy once the pre-decanting "Eww" stage passes. It really is pretty funky out of the bottle, but turns into a meat-lovers wine once it's decanted. Sorry it was my only bottle.

Nice Sangiovese, although because it's a Cali wine, there was a lot more fruit than earth. Still tasty, I think it can go another couple of years.
