My first red from Ireland and my first time trying the grape variety Rondo. Light red strawberry color. Good flowery and fruity nose, raspberries, fresh cherries. Very light on the palate, fresh cherry, some mint and dark pepper. Not very complex and missing some structure, nice acidity though. Short and rather uninteresting finish. I’m not a fan of this type of wine and I probably never will become a fan, but it was drinking way better than I hoped. All in all an interesting wine and amazing to see what can be achieved on the island of Ireland.

Lots of herbal notes and spices, some strawberry. Very light, nice acidity. A little short, but overall an interesting wine from a rare grape variety.

Beautiful lightly aged Spätburgunder. Light notes of red berries and green spices on the palate, some mushrooms and fresh pepper. Light body but a great structure - nice mineral notes. A very elegant and fine wine. Medium-long finish. In a great drinking condition right now!

An excellent example for the small plot of Traiser Bastei. It’s nearly possible to feel the heat and the sun reflected from the steep rocks. Great mineral notes with a lot of fruit, orange zest, lychee and some nutty notes (almond) on the palate. Medium intense body and a great structure. Could use just a tiny bit more acidity, but an absolute amazing dry Riesling. Really enjoyable right now - will be interesting to see this evolving in the next couple of years.

Great Syrah Merlot blend from Lebanon. Dark ruby and a little violet color. Very concentrated but not overdone. Ripe plum, dark cherries, chocolate and some licorice on the palate. Tannins very dominant, missing some more character and finesse. Still a little young, I would wait until 2022 before opening the next bottle.

A friend of mine recommended this wine to me. An absolutely amazing Pomerol - sure, quite young right now but already really enjoyable. A lot of red berries in the nose. Unripe cherry and berry notes on the palate, some green notes and bell pepper too - tannins very strong right now, let it breathe for at least two hours. Long juicy and mouthwatering finish. This wine has all a great Pomerol needs, it’s not overdone but it has all the flavors and depth you’re looking for in a great wine. Once again a great Bordeaux from the 2016 vintage. This will stay beautiful over the next 15 years.

Lovely Weissburgunder, very complex but great freshness at the same time. Still very young, needs 2-3 more years to show its full potential.

Needs at least 2 hours in the decanter, quite closed and harsh after uncorking. Becomes beautifully soft with nicely integrated tannins and ripe dark berries on the palate. Never expected this to taste so good - well done.

Had this bottle in my cellar since 2013 - glad to have a few more left, this is drinking beautiful right now. Great nose with dark berries and ripe cherries. Nice but not overdone fruits on the palate. Ripe cherries, blackberries and a great kind of tin in the background. Long and savory finish. Perfect now but in my opinion this will even evolve in the next 5-8 years.

Personally not my style but quite interesting and amazing too see that even in countries like Namibia it is possible to produce proper wine.
Confusing but interesting nose - orange peel, gooseberry and wet clay in the nose. Great freshness with a nice - maybe a little to low - acidity. Green lime, some eucalyptus bonbons and orange on the palate.
Medium-long not very elegant finish. Would I buy another bottle - no, cause I live in Germany and can get my hands on a bottle from all Ober the world. But I can imagine me drinking it while sitting on my patio in Namibia.

From vines planted in 1865 - produced just in exceptional years, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Just 2,300 bottles produced for the 2012 vintage.
Deep red color. Beautiful nose with dark plums and toasty oak. A lot of things going on on the palate. Black berries, plum and liquorice - lovely spices and some vanilla in the back. Very concentrated but not overdone - very linear and precise. An absolute lovely example of an amazing deeply structured Australian Shiraz. I decanted it for a few hours which was a good decision. Drink now with a few hours of decanting or until 2030.

Interesting nose, a mixture between lime and cinnamon or cinnamon cookies to be exactly. Lime and peach on the palate, nearly no acidity - that’s the main problem imo. I guess botrytis was a problem in 2014. Already enjoyable but I don’t know if this will age gracefully...I would drink it now or as I will do, sell the rest of my bottles. All in all a good wine but quite disappointing for this wine, I had beautiful vintages with great complexity before.

Massive fruit on the palate - dark cherries, blackberries and plum. Tight body, firm tannins, nice long and juicy finish. Not a typical St. Emilion imo but interesting and very well made.
Way too young in the moment, needs at least another 5 years in the cellar. 4 hours after decanting it started to soften a bit.
Will be interesting too see this one develop in the future.

A lot of aged notes with some overripe red berries, Asian spices and leather in the nose.
Quite different on the palate - ripe cherries, black currant and some tobacco. Full bodied and deep but in a very classic way. Nicely integrated tannins and a long juicy finish - great stuff!
It needed some air after uncorking, not much, just let it stay open for 20min or so, do not decant here.

Tasted it side by side with the 2012 vintage, I liked the 2012 vintage a little more, but this vintage is amazing too. Complex and structured body, a little creamy and a great freshness at the same time. Just lovely! Glad to have some more bottles of both vintages in my cellar to see how they will evolve.

Amazing Riesling with a lot of complexity and beautiful starting aging notes! Not an easy drinker, but a lovely very structured body, heavy and kind of creamy but not in a bad way. Tasted it side by side with the 2015 vintage which is amazing too, but missing a little depth.

Beautiful dark fruits and floral notes in the nose.
Black cherries, plum, mocha and some smoked aromas on the palate. Very complex body with great structure and stiff tannins - not too heavy, just perfect.
It is aged for 14 month in French barriques.
It is just my second vintage of this wine after trying the 2009 a few years ago. I rated the 2009 with 91 points but the 2010 is even better! It is perfect now but will gain complexity over the next couple years and will be perfect around 2021.
Great price tag for this quality too in my opinion. If you see it in a restaurant or a wine store give it a try! Just 2,200 cases produced in 2010.

WOW - bottle was in perfect condition, bought at an auction a few years ago. Beautiful ripe nose with red fruits and some forest floor. Silk and soft on the palate. Ripe cherries, blackberries and blueberries, some wet forest floor in the back. Very elegant and a great deep structure, tannins integrated beautifully! Long and succulent finish - amazing! In perfect drinking condition right now, no need to wait imo - just let it breathe for an hour.

2016 Pettenthal Kabinett Auction - WOW, one of the best Kabinett I ever had. Beautiful fresh fruit on the palate, soft citrus, kumquat and light pear. Great minerality, slate and limestone notes. Fine acidity, not too much, just perfect balanced. Still too young and a little closed will even be better in 10 years. An amazing Kabinett, will try to get my hands on some more bottles.
