Very pretty magenta with a bright rim and solid viscosity. I’m getting cool smoky herbs behind sweet fruit and olives on the nose. The palate brings some dusty cocoa black cherry and currant with a mineraly grip. The high ABV is well concealed in this quaffable juice.

Massively fruity with supporting smokey mineral notes. The nose is assertive and welcoming perfectly implying what’s about to overwhelm your palate. There’s no sediment and you’ll need to shine a light through your glass to see the activity going on it there.

Looks stunning and flawless, brighter than the 2014 Dragon vyd I just had. Nose is sharply focused with fennel blossoms and sweet dark fruit. Palate is huge up front, slick in the middle and round and plush on the finish with perfectly balanced acidity and mineral tingle. Phenomenal!

Remarkably fragrant nose with flowers and concentrated berries. Looks pretty and solid. Rich and assertive on the palate with a robust finish.

Opaque black ruby with a bright rim, gorgeous. The expressive nose gives up blackberry pie, mocha and sweet coffee with some faint floral tones. Rich and lush dark fruit with a long juicy finish. There’s a small amount of sediment so recommend filtering.

Wow! Night 2 with this and still phenomenal! Drinking from a Bordeaux glass and the nose is intense and so inviting. Temperature is 66 degrees and perfect.

Was a bit rough the first hour last night but came around with some air time. The Mourvèdre is front and center with big plump structure. Lots of savory fruit and smoky earth. Needs time, years.

So quaffable I almost forgot to take a note. From the saved half bottle night two: beautiful with ripe fruit and subtle floral hints. Palate is rich with a brilliant coupling of sweet and savory. Didn’t check or think about exactly what I was drinking but it became apprarant after a few sips it was something extraordinary.

Beautiful appearance with some dusty Cabernet defining the nose. There’s plenty of Bordeaux inspired niceness for the palate. Tannins are plush and integrated. Don’t see it improving or going south anytime soon.

I poured the first half into a half bottle for night two before filling night one’s glass. There was cloudy sediment that didn’t filter out completely after a couple trys. Nice color and smelled inviting. Tasted pleasant but kinda washed out. The texture of the sediment was bothersome though. Overall disappointing. Night two was better, sediment was very minimal and appearance was remarkably better. Nose was tight and focused and the grip of the Grenache came through on thie finish. Should’ve drank years ago. At $65, terrible value.

Sexy blushing absolutely gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Remarkably pretty. Very focused blue to black fruit cone. Lots of fruit salad perfume and very sleek on the palate with some chalky minerals before cooling to the crisp 49’F out here. Drinking the other one this year.

Dark and pretty, excellent clarity. Getting some florals on the nose with the usual bramble and pepper, starts soft and fluffy and gains focus. Nice round mouthfeel that's plump and juicy, bringing back the nose.

Drank over 2 nights and thought its a Zin built to last. On the darker, richer side for Zinfandel.
Red
Didn't take any notes, but remember that it was a lighter style with peppery / spicy notes and good acid.

Can they do that with Zinfandel? Looks like they did! Brooding and thick, absolutely gorgeous and just goes on and on. Versatile, respect!

Calmed down since last taste 5 years ago. Still looking gorgeous with a reticent but inviting nose. Viognier taking over the month-feel properly. Smoky fat, olives and cherries define the flavor profile. Getting better with time in a big glass.

Nose has a nice perfume of red fruit & some floral stuff. Looks pretty and viscous with slow forming legs that are tight and perfectly spaced. Hits the palate hard with dark smoky black fruit and peppery, earthy herbs. The finish is long and shifty going from charcuterie to creamy raspberry.

My dad tried to open with a corkscrew and shredded the cork, but I saved it then filtered and decanted; surprisingly little sediment. Didn't take / remember any formal notes but the wine was extraordinarily bright and lively, everyone really enjoyed. I have another bottle that I'm in no hurry to drink now.

Barely getting into it’s drinking window this rich and gravely beauty has a rather sharp nose of charred herbs and smoky game. The palate is coarsely textural with dark fruits and tarry olive mintiness. The finish is robust and lingering.

Extracted the soft cork with a DeVine opener and it still broke in half then decanted to find absolutely no sediment. The color is a sexy black ruby and looks fantastic. The nose has earthy, cedary, dark fruit focus with hedonistic extracted ripe Cabernet underpinnings. The palate is rich and luscious with plum and blackberry fruit and notes of sweet tobacco, dark chocolate baking spice. In great shape and could age for 5 more years.

Note is from reserved half bottle on night 2. Dark and opaque with some sugar showing on the side of the glass. Nose is concentrated with spicy smoked game and berry liquor. Palate is rich and full, generously alcoholic giving sweet dark fruit.

Year in and year out the Montafi zinfandel from Carlisle is one of my favorite wines so drinking one for my birthday dinner. The color shows deep pomegranate with a soft and rich glow. There’s a nice woodsy pitch to the nose with bramble and spice. The palate is unctuous with layers of dark sugary fruits and a peppery snap before a long mineral laden finish.

Decanted and filtered, most of the 1/2 tsp if heavy sediment remained in the bottle with some residual sugar sneaking through. A completely opaque ox blood that you literally cannot see the fucking sun through with some fine sediment cycling on the miniscus. The nose is sharply focused on campfire and German blackberry liquor with hints of light floral notes. The palate has smoky bramble candy, lamb fat, sweet tobacco, blueberry and dark chocolate. There’s a nice lift on the finish revealing chalky and floral olive with bay leaf. The alcohol is well resolved but still hitting hard.

There's a considerable amount of fine sediment that wasn't caught by 2 passes through a strainer and a small amount of larger sediment that was caught. It looked like a mess in the glass. The nose had a bit of funk with herbs and dark savory fruit. I think it was too old. I reserved a half-bottle and got to it on night 3 and there was some improvement with the fine sediment settling somewhere and the funk from the nose evolved to the dark smoky fruit. Meh.

Decanted unfiltered to reveal a considerable amount of sediment. Didn't read my previous note, i guess. I saved a half bottle for day 2 and it was really nice and looked prettier.

the saved half bottle was better on night 2, tasted more French than US.

Looks inviting though nondescript. The nose is offering up some tar, dirt and tightly focused unsweetened black currant jam. There's a nice mushroomy-earthiness on the palate with olives and currant. An acid spine holds it together making it go really well with food.

What a sexy wine! The weight, viscosity and clarity are absolutely gorgeous. The nose starts with a dusty blackberry compote with pork smoke and that glue that kids sniff to get high. The attack comes on with dry mineral laden bramble dusted in cocoa. The finish brings black figs and sweet tobacco wrapped in a juicy blanket of mushroomy earthiness that dries up nicely after 45 seconds.
