I have had the pleasure of drinking many high rated wines. Some live up to my expectations, some don't. This one not only lived up to my expectations but exceeded it. Brooding, deep color with intense fruit flavor, smokey, hint of tobacco and a never ending finish. Five people drank it with Osso Bucco and all were blown away. Incredible wine!

structure falling apart. still a hint of what it was in it's prime, but I'm enjoying what it had been rather than what it was.

down to two bottles, after buying a half a dozen from the winery upon release. This wine has hit it's stride. Incredible wine drinking experience. Perfect balance of acidity, tannin, and bold fruit, with subtle terroir, the flavor lingering interminably. Wow. I just found ten more and bought them because I don't want to be without this in my cellar.

Right out of the bottle, incredibly impressive. Bold red fruit flavors, subtle minerals, balanced, incredible nose. I can't underestimate how much I enjoyed this first experience with this wine. I'm so glad I have the rest of a case waiting. Blows many more expensive pinots out of the water. 94

Drank starting an hour after decanting, stretching into three hours for the bottle. Tight, unbalanced to started, unwinding to reveal layers of iron, sweet fruit, leather as we finished the bottle. Next time I'll decant for three hours before consuming. Wonderful amarone, but can easily spend another decade in the bottle.

wonderful after three hours of decanting. Bold but not too bold tanins, mineral, leather, strong but not overwhelming fruit. Fragrant nose of terroir and structure. Impressive with it's resemblance to it's big brother, Sassicaia. Wonderful paired with lamb chops. 92

tremendous terroir, minerals on the nose and wonderfully integrated taste. subtle tannins. I decanted for three hours, and in retrospect, that was probably too much, with a bit of the zest of the wine dissipating. 92

Very tight, though wonderful smell of terroir on the nose. After the first hour the tannins mellowed, terroir became well integrated, and the robust flavor of leather, fruit, earth, and graphite rounded out this wonderful wine. Next time I'll decant it for two hours before trying it. Wonderful wine.

2004 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
This deep ruby wine smells of blackberry, and cassis. The full body is complemented by a strong under structure, with a hint of pepper. Earthy terroir lasts lingering on the palate.

Almost overpowering, right out of the bottle, without any decanting time. Much better the second night, with distinct taste of both cab and shiraz. Bolder than Carnival of Love or other products in their line, but completely enjoyable.

Drank back to back with a nice California pinot. Hands down, all five drinkers found this more elegant, complex, earthy, exhibiting far more terroir and overall enjoyment.
