Not a bad wine but nothing particularly exciting about it. Red fruit and cassis on the nose. Light/med body on the palate. Needs to gain a little more weight. I'm all for a restrained Cab but this felt somewhat hollow on the mid palate. Was hoping it would gain weight over the course of the evening. Med length finish with good balance, but I would venture a guess to drink near term rather than long term.

Man, this was great! Bought this years ago and will look to buy more. Still on the young side but not shut down at all. Cigar / dark fruit / smoke / wet cement on the nose. Full bodied on the palate with a little green coming through (but not in a bad way at all.) Tannins very prevalent on the finish but not harsh at all. Acidity on point. Makes for a very well made and well -balanced wine. This easily has 10 years life left on it. Still feels young and primary almost but not overly so. In a great spot and will be for a long time.

2015 J. Rochioli Sauvignon Blanc Russian River Valley
14.5% alcohol. Nearly clear color. This is a tart, crisp version of this wine that definitely trends to the leaner-minerally side. Grapefruit, minerality, and tartness, with strong acidity rule the day. It's juicy and darn good. I like this style a lot. A-

medium to full body with thick textured layers of black raspberry, Black Forest cake, and slight hints of mocha. A little too sweet following the 2010 Cain Five. Not too much depth of flavor or finish, lacking intellectual stimulation

This was freaking great. Wife loved it as well. No specific notes (as this is all by memory) but the wine has really hit its stride. Really enjoyable and still fairly young. Would love to offer more insight to the wine but was too busy actually enjoying it!

2/8/16, 8:18 AM - Was a good weekend. Wish I wrote down notes at all the other wineries as well! To answer your question, yes they tasted us on a couple of the 12's and 13's. It was a laid back fun tasting with some great wine...

as with the Maybach's I had this at Cristal2000's house. Honestly, this was more of an afterthought at first (which is weird to say.) But after drinking those wines and a bottle of Sea Smoke, we were pretty much done. On a whim, we decided to open this and give it a whirl...

I mean...Listen, this wine is something else. Pop and pour and it was singing right out of the gate. The complexity on the nose cant even be described, though i'll try: Black Olive, a touch of oak, cassis, blackberries. Gorgeous on the palate. just beautiful in every way. Full bodied wine but not over-the-top whatsoever. Just amazing. Super long finish with ample backbone to it. I NEVER rate wines, but if I were - out of the gate - this would easily be 97-98. One of the best wines I've had this year and up there with some of the best I've ever had. In a few out!!!

Translucent color. Gorgeous nose of cranberry, earth, rose, violets and earth

Medium bodied on the palate. Cranberry/vanilla. Lively and juicy. Acid keeps this fresh on the back end. Not much in the way of tannin. Looooong finish. Has really mellowed. Perfect to drink now. Don't think this will get better with any more aging.

2005 Pax Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch Russian River Valley
Just a fabulous wine. Was pretty much ready to go right out of the bottle. Not much decanting needed with it at all. Deep, dark purple color. Nose of bacon, mocha, dark fruit, licorice and oak. Gorgeous nose. Full bodied wine with the mocha and dark fruit absolutely shining. Loooong finish that was perfectly in balance. Not over the top whatsoever. A pleasure to drink.

12/27/12, 5:01 PM - Frank! Hope you've been well! I haven't been on WB much lately as work/kids etc are taking up my time, but I would love to come to Falltacular! I'll sign up over there and PM you. As for the wine, It definitely has a few years left. Though I didn't decant, it got a touch better in the second hour. In my absolutely unprofessional opinion, I say give it about 2 years and it will be gorgeous.
